Man I know people have told me that Dime's stuff is'nt that hard to learn, but it intimidates the hell out of me,when I try to learn anything from his crazy scalar riffs, let alone the squeals. I've bought books, cds videos, and even a Dime signature guitar to learn with, but I'm still stupified by the scalar riff stuff. If anyone would have any tips on where I may find more info, it would greatly help. His lead is just untouchable to me. That's why he was one of the best though, I guess.

You can learn Dime's music the same as other guitar players. The level of difficulty depends on your ability to learn. Let's face it, with guitar some people have to work harder than others. You can have Dimes sheet music or tab right in front of you. Learning it note for note. Doesn't mean you can play it. Example Cemetery Gates. Without his passion or the feel. You'll never pitch your bends or pulls correctly. Gene Simmons said it best.. Play guitar with your dick not your head. Good luck.

well what is hardest for ya man? most people when saying his stuff was simple only looked at the rhythm lay downs or had never seen him live, the man could burn up a fret board better then many want to admit, his crazy stretches are what got me. but all i can tell ya man is learn the riffs slow, take a chunk from one of his solos and practice and practice then move to another chunk....cause if ya look at a whole solo dime made your like..god damn..i cant play this..but ya can, just takes time

I saw him live with Pantera at family arena, & know I'll never do that stuff he did. My goal right now, is to work on the "stretching" thing,like you said, and I'm also trying to learn sweeps. I already know how to bend notes pretty good , but I have no speed or real right hand technique going on,when it comes to squeals,harmonics, or proper palm muting. I basically can play scales up and down the neck, but my fingers get tangled up. I'll try to learn little chunks slower,like you said. Thanks!
