There actually is a 7th 8th and 9th, its called the Expanded universe. Lucas gave up on making them into movies because he got too old.

nope. ep 7-9 were surposed to be made in the late 80s early 90s. but Lucas was qoute ''sick of Starwars'' and cancelled the 'sequel trilogy' round 1987. after some books were popluar in the early 90s Lucas saw there was stil a massive fanbase so he made the special editions and prequels.

he still said in the 90s that starwars had 9 parts, but now he said it was always surposed to be 6. if you asked him in the 70s he would have said 3 :P.
