  • Well, its technically not a halogen bulb then. You've probably got a GU10. We've got 5 of them in our bathroom(2 3W and 3 2W)

  • LEDs are suitable for traffic lights and maybe head lights. Not house light.

  • @noreaga12326 we use LED Halogen replacements in our house and, though they are a bit more expensive than halogen, they are just as bright and have a warm temperature. they are made by Sylvania. they are the ultra LEDs. we love them.

  • @jamalogist

Just looking into LED's. They look cold. Where can I get warmer LED's? Thanks for help!

  • Don't they have warm white colours? Hmm.

  • halogen bulbs are now illegal in the UK, this is why the hostel is using them.

  • @gratex are they really, they are not illegal were i am living and im the uk

  • just got led halogen replacements, they would seem brighter if they didn't give me a 60fps view of my room. I swear they're just wired in series or something.

  • LEDs will flicker at 60hz (50hz for Europe) unless powered by well filtered DC.

My kitchen counter LEDs are powered by a retired notebook power adapter. No detectable strobing.

  • led's consumption is very low so with a simple 4-diode rectifier and some 3000uf capacitor will be more then enough

  • You cannot compare a 100W LED with a 100W incandescent bulb.

    LED's have about 75lm/W, incandescents about 15lm/W.

This means a 100W LED light is as bright as a 500W incandescent.

  • i dont get it. Why doesnt everyone sell those instead of CFL bulbs. LED are less watts.

  • They are quite expensive and the technology has not developed enough to produce enough light to light a room without a huge bulb. You can buy them at most hardware stores but they are mostly just reading lights.

  • uhhhh they have led lights that are up to 100w and only 4 inch but yes they are expensive around 100 bucks for the 100w

  • They're not yet mainstream in the U.K, but they will be. You can get them in warm/white, too, if you look. They also contain NO mercury, use less energy than the other types of bulbs on the market.

+ It emits a natural, constant light. Currenty CFL lights contain mercury and flash rapidly and can cause migraines. They're derived from neon sign technology -- and I hate them. Boo.

LED = Amazing, new and useful.

  • I already replaced my halogens with 4 watt CREE led lamps. Check out my video of my led lamps on my channel. We need to spread the word we need to use more LED lamps. Leds save the planet!!!

  • where did you buy those lamps? are they bright and white/warm as halogens?

  • maybe the light of the future... maybe theyll make a lens to put over it to get a normal color like the halogens.. halogens are costing me way to much a month on my electric bill.. leds would save me alot of money i think..

    nice video

  • Your Led light has an efficency of about 50 Lumen per Watt. It is therefore 2-3x more efficient than Halogen Lamps.

Nevertheless the light color ,subjectively, and the CRI , color rendering index is much worse.

  • Nice video - I am thinking of replacing some Halogens with LED lights in my girlfriends shop.

  • Cool.
