Yeah T-mobile definitely had the vision with andoird tech before a lot of other service providers, as I myself had a G1, but the droid on verizon's 3G services with it's few little quirks I'll deal with rather then deal with crappy 3G service on T-mobile.

But, now that it's been revealed that the Droid will be getting live wallpapers with the 2.1 update (and if you're rooted like me, you already have them), the only thing that the N1 has over the Droid is a faster processor and some hardware differences. So, just like you say the Droid is barely better than the G1, I say the N1 is barely better than the Droid =)

Its the Droid's CPU that is really holding it back.

It can't compete with new phone's packing the Snapdragon CPU.

Snapdragon is so over rated, the current version in the Nexus isnt even running at 1ghz its like 660mhz or something like that and the Droid does actually do some things faster than the Nexus and yes the GPU does actually help.

Ask any developer, writer/blogger. They will tell you the Nexus One and its SnapDragon processor KILLS the Droid's. Its a FACT. Backed up with benchmarks.

Droid has two "processors" one is the main processor for the computing if you will but also has a GPU to work with the screen, so in its self make the Droid much more faster than the G1.

i doubt t-mobile is going to get the G1 After its release of the MOterola CLick and the Mytouch. I agree that the keyboard isent as big as the G1s but i got used to the droids Keyboard in 1 day. Im not huge on wigets so the High def screen dosent bother me when it comes to the layout of the icons. the G1 Still laggs and freezes sometimes randomly wile the Droid is Flying buy. Hardwear on the Droid is 10 times better then the G1s, It feels solid and strong, wile the G1 dosent

@EmoGamer you need to learn more about mobile processors before you comment on them. The HTC G1 uses an ARM 11 while the Driod uses an ARM Cortex A8 which is far more powerful clock for clock. Your comparison is like saying a 2.4GHz Pentium 4 is as fast as a 2.4GHz Core 2 Quad. They run at the same clock speed but the Core 2 Quad is many times faster. Android 2.0 was a bit clunky on certain movements but is much better with the 2.01 update leading me to believe this is more of a software issue.

But we're talking about Android here.

Android doesn't need multicore processors and all that. It needs simple computing.

You don't do the same things with Android as on a comp. Its not needed.

GPU is only for 3D games.

The CPU is weak on the Droid and although its more powerful and can handle complicated taks, Fart apps are hardly complicated.

That being said, Qualcomm's Snapdragon CPU is LEAPS AND BOUNDS better than the Droid's A8. Plain and simple =)

Nice, you have just proven how ignorant you are! The CPU/GPU is fine it's the code that needs to be improved to take advantage of the hardware. People who compare CPU's by MHz alone make me LOL. Also the screen rez on the droid is more than double the G1 or iPhone for that matter and that can require more CPU/GPU depending on the app. Also I'm not talking about the SnapDragon, I'm commenting on your mislead statement that the G1 is comparable in speed to the Droid.

Quite the contrary... The speed you see in opening an app is the direct result of said app still being open in the background.

Now I do believe the OMAP CPU has a lot to do with running tasks and being able to compute lots of info from different sources, or running a really heavy app (like Navigation) smoothly.

Its the RAM that is keeping all these apps open in the background so that you can return to them quickly.

But what do I know... I'm just a kid =p
