DUDE finally someone who i can agree with! i am joining the marines in a few years so i got myself into the habit of calling weapons, parts of weapons, etc. by their ACTUAL names! and it drives me nuts when people have no idea what their talking about and call it the wrong thing. if it sounds like im flaming your video im not im agreeing with it. nice vid man.
Pretty sure that it's just some, but perhaps all are as someone said for cleaning and maintenance and what not.
Went to a gun show this weekend (God bless America) and they were selling enfield magazines. Never seen em' for sale before! Interesting people still bring this up, I thought of that when I saw them.
Great video man, hopefully people will start taking your advice when posting videos. Also, for a fixed/internal magazine specifically for airsoft would be the cheap walmart rifles/SMG's that feed through the gravity well. Once again, thanks for the video and your video has been favorited!
you have a misconception yourself because in 01:46 you showed a .303 lee enfield smle to show and example of a fixed magazine but that particular rifle has a romovable 10 round magazine. many people think that it is fixed because you can top it up with stripper clips but this is not the case because you can actually load it by topping up the magazine with a srtipper clip while the magazine is still inserted into the rifle or you can replace the magazine with another full magazine
Actually the Lee-Enfield did have the capability of a removable magazine which could be seated into the rifle with ammunition in it, although it was rare and normally detached for cleaning purposes only.
Manypersons is unfortunately correct, it is detatchable. However it was found very expensive to give soldiers mags when you could give them simple stripper clips, so thats how it worked
There actually are "rifled barrels" in airsoft. The Tanio Koba Twist barrels technically have rifling in them, though they do not impart spin on the bb like real rifling. You can look them up you wanna no more about them, cause I don"t feel like elaborating. Just thought I'd add that.
Anyways, very good job. All the noobs need to see this. haha.

ive seen less injuries in airsoft than any other sport ive ever played. the worst ive seen was a friend of mine from the younger crowd (13 years old) get two pretty nice welts to the neck. he sucked it up like a champ and fought on! =] go jake!
i treat any airsoft gun as if it is a real steel weapon, i always treat it as if its loaded and never point it at anything im not intending to shoot...it is only dangerous if you dont follow the cardinal rules of firearms safety.
I was going to give you 4 stars because you didn't mention the ever glorious M14... but on the other hand you did mention the M1 so I have you 5... Just don't leave out the M14 again or I'll take YOUR first born.

THANK YOU!! I am sick of hearing pepole call wepons, guns. I always end up explaining that we dont have guns, the navy and the army artillry devision have guns, we have rifles
haha that was me like a year ago at my friend andrews house...i said it looked like a speederbike from star wars or something. and he was like "wtf how do you figure" so i showed him and my gf at the time got a pic of me without me knowing. i fail =[
you should actually name this "common firearm misconceptions", because if it was titled that, people wouldnt know the differece, except for the airsoft review part.
Yep, got that right. I'm not necessarily into airsoft, but i shoot AR-15's all the time along with Glock 40's. And I didn't find one thing that you said in there wrong. ;)
not sure exactly what you mean by this, but its used to make sure the bolt is fully seated forward, meaning to ensure the round is fully seated in the chamber. sometimes when you charge the weapon, the bolt wont slam all the way home.
Another thing that pisses me off.... 7 year olds with guns. they make a review of their shitty little crosman gun, say it's pretty good and shoots hard. then i go ape on them, someone comes and says "hey man, hes just a kid". well, thats my point. it says right on the box 18+. people should at least do a little research before reviewing a POS.
it can be annoying, but these are the future veterans of our beloved milsim activity...theyll eventually figure things out, and get to our position, and hopefully have a little more humility and patience than people like you and me for the noobs of their time =P
yea that pisses me off. even though im not 18.. but at least I don't play with airsoft guns at my back yard lol.. and the parents are buying airsoft guns to 7 year olds.. *sigh*
Surpressors are devices that silence the muzzle report in firearms. Airsoft guns are pretty quiet in that respect, so there aren't any surpressors for them, they are fake. Airsoft noise comes from the internal workings that cant be silenced.
a howitser is not a gun. a howitser is an artillary piece use to hurle a small explosive charge a a very steep angle. a gun or cannon shots it at a strait angle. such as a navel gun. yes there r some ships that use howitsers it hurle strait throgh the deck. and yes there r rifled airsoft guns. they arent allowed cause the kill.
aha! good call. i was thinking naval gun when i made this, but i just typed in "artillery" on google images and that was one of the ones that came up. i wasnt thinking right...very good point bud, thanks for posting and righting a wrong.
They did and still do sell rifled barrels for Airsoft. But they don't apply the same spin on the bullet like a real steel rifle. A airsoft rifled barrel creates a cushion around the BB, preventing it from hitting the sides of the barrel. Making it more accurate. But if your gun shoots over 350 FPS, then you really shouldn't be using it.
Nice vid. one glitch a clip is used to feed a mag like a striper clip feeds an internal mag or an M1 clip feeds the mag. but for the most part love the vid good for people to know this stuff.
gun- a weapon consisting of a metal tube, with mechanical attachments, from which projectiles are shot by the force of an explosive; a piece of ordnance. **by this definition a SPRING, as i am not sure if an explosion of any size is used in a green gas or electric type, airsoft "gun" is not a gun. Furthermore, if u continue to look around towards the definition of FIREARM you find no material to be used in convicting an AIRSOFT "marker" as a gun. I did a paper on it in school. u are correct. :)
Technically, a rifle is just any firearm with rifling in the barrel. In military terms, a rifle is an individual's weapon. A gun is either a machine gun or artillery piece.
And Psych Ops...thats good stuff! I dont know much about them but from what Ive gathered they do psychological operations to demoralize the enemy and uplift local populations to be pro-American and what not, and I believe for a couple units you HAVE to be airborne qualified? Would you be able to fill me in here? And Ill check out your site in a little bit if I remember---remind me!
Well, for Psych Ops, my cousin had to complete a few tests on things like Communication with the local population, and effective use of propaganda. I don't think he had to be airborne qualified. He, I believe, is stationed in a town near Kuwait and working with the locals. I don't know much else; apparently Psych Ops likes to keep some of their stuff private. I can see why, haha.
haha yea thats understandable. im sure its a great job that has direct civilian counterpart jobs in public relations or law enforcement...perhaps even CIA
Eh? I have to fight you on one point. The SKS can have a mag. Though with the mag you use a 5.56 and it's cheap ass hell. And you missed some ak varients (lol I was JK about that it's like impossible to name them all). Great video though.
@1:46, the "fixed" magazine bolt-action rifles you are referring to are British Lee-Enfield No. 1 MkIII SMLE's in .303 British (They just so happen to have detachable box magazines). Might want to change your picture to better reflect your commentary (with like a mosin nagant, which has an internal, fixed magazine).
And stop playing with toys, exercise your rights and buy the real thing already.
pretty sure the SMLE's do not have "Detachable" box magazines. and by the way, id love to exercise my rights, but im 17. im in the army but i cant be trusted with a privately owned firearm for another few months apparently =P
They do have detachable box mags (10 rounds); though, more commonly troops would use stripper clips to load them from the top rather than carry spare box mags themselves.
Heck, even the Indian Commonwealth 2-A SMLE Enfields in .308 Win have detachable box mags.
As for exercising your rights, jump on it as soon as you can: prices will never go any lower and availability probably won't get any higher. Turn 18 soon :P and buy,buy,buy....
man that was hilarious. its not a cocky thing, its a charging handle lol. agree 100percent, spot on video mate. 'so you can stop sounding like an idiot' lol so true!
hehe true that man! yeah my dad is buying me either a springfield xd 9mm or a glock 19 when i turn 18. its legal in my state to own one at 18, you just cant buy it from a licensed dealer, it has to be bought for you or given to you.
my dads also buying me an AR15 with my money when i get back from training in august. i figure if the shit hits the fan, i gotta have a weapon to get me to an armory when the commies invade, right? ;)
that was great i really hope some idiots learn something i learned new things about magazines and clips lol the one thing that bugged me about your "lingo"is how you said carbine it is not car-bean like you pronounce its carbine
Also, when people call their AR15 an M16(which implies atleast some limited form of automatic capabilities as are present in military rifles) it pisses me off a little. It would annoy me more if military designations weren't so jacked up.
while the gun-rifle thing is technically true... most military folk will not rip you a new one for it. It is more commonly referred to as your weapon, your best friend, your life, or, occasionally by numerical designation or by her individual name (i.e. the M16A2 I was equipped with for my most recent Army BRM is Sasha, 153-20). Magazine-clip makes me want to gouge out eyes and most the other comments are why i mock most airsoft people and posers who have no idea what they are talking about.
my M15A4 shoots on average around 250 fps with .2g and i use .25 and i still get great range and accuracy. would be interesting to see if a rifled barrel would improve that if 250 is low enough
i might check that out. hows the price on it and where can i find it?
im looking at getting a TB barrel, but this might be better. oh yeah, thats if i can crack my friggin M15A4 open. why did classic army have to make it so difficult? why cant it be like every other AR15 type AEG where it breaks down like the real steel? jeez louise.
very easy jest take out the 2 pins on the side oh and i belive its around 30-50 ...pretty pricy but its way more expencive if u buy a twist barrel like u want..
DONT PULL UP!! make sure your battery connections are diconected and slide forward. Its suppose to be hard to pull forward tho because of the tight fit around the gear box..
couldnt get the upper more than maybe 1/2 an inch forward of the lower---couldnt even get to disconnect the batteries lol. ill give it a good ramming =P
mhmm. weve established already in previous comments that there are aftermarket barrels you can get for your AEG that have rifling in the barrel, though the additional stability granted is questionable as the projectile itself is round.
i suggest this video be removed or edited for the reason that you say and i quote i suggest you start using this lingo or i will take your first born end quote i find this offensive as i have kids and this video has been reported
shasta rools it annoys me when noobs call magazines clips you should do a video showing people how to sand when shooting cos it annoys me when people get that wrong too
thank you. you gave a few to many gun examples but this guide was perfect. theres nothing more annoying than a 12 year old who just got a gun and starts blabbing randomly when your looking for an honest helpful review of a gun
first off. good stuff in the video. second off people dont really care if it is totally correct. language and slang terms differ from area to area. so great job. your very intelligent. but im sad to say. most people will not care. at all.
overall its correct vocab. but you show a picture of the m 777 howitzer. a medium muzzle velocity, medium trajectory artillery piece. a gun is a high muzzle velocity, low trajectory artillery piece.
First of all, I'm sorry to say this, but your wrong about the Magazine/Clip Topic. I did some research on it to confirm my info and according to the History Channel (Mail Call), The host (Former Marine) & a Brigidaer General: A magazine is the part that contains the clip & the rounds. The clip is the mechanism that feeds the rounds into the chamber. Hence, in a airsoft magazine, the spring is the clip and the tube and loader is part of the magazine.
"A magazine is the part that contains the clip & the rounds. The clip is the mechanism that feeds the rounds into the chamber."
The magazine is in fact the house of the ammunition. A clip feeds ammunition into the magazine, or stores it in the magazine. A spring is just that---a spring.
yes but the tanio wont let you use the hop up, causing great loss of range which is where you want the accuracy in the first place because with any barrel thats is reasonable clean can accurately hit a target at 75 (rough estimate) which is this barrels limit without hop up so unless you at a range and have 5 hours to line up your shot, this barrel becomes useless and still it does not have dead on accuracy so imo just get a tightbore(half the price) and excel bb's
it also annoys the living fuck out of me when people call assault rifles "machine guns"

this is true. i dont think i mentioned that in the video, but that is very true

The term GUN, doesnt only refer to artillery - Machine guns such as the Minimi, or the GPMG are also guns. Also most LSW's such as the L96, are also GUNS, due to their higher cyclic rate, and greater barrel length.
Also, the terms charging handle and cocking handle can be used interchangeably

hmm...perhaps in other countries it can be used interchangeably, i wouldnt go as far as to say it is in the US. i think if i referred to the charging handle as a cocking handle an NCO would slap me. sounds like youre from the UK?
shastadude13 3 years ago
One thing, whilst a RIFLE is not a gun, certain variants of machine gun ARE.
Take, for example, the British army:
L85 - IW, standard issue rifle, this is NOT a gun.
L86 - LSW, a light support weapon, due to having a larger barrel, larger weight of fire, and higher cyclic rate, this IS a gun.
GMPG - standard issue machine gun practically across the world, this IS a GUN.
Also, the charging handle, can interchangeably be called the cocking handle.
Other than that, good point.

I dont know much about them but from what Ive gathered they do psychological operations to demoralize the enemy and uplift local populations to be pro-American and what not, and I believe for a couple units you HAVE to be airborne qualified? Would you be able to fill me in here? And Ill check out your site in a little bit if I remember---remind me!
shastadude13 3 years ago
Well, for Psych Ops, my cousin had to complete a few tests on things like Communication with the local population, and effective use of propaganda. I don't think he had to be airborne qualified. He, I believe, is stationed in a town near Kuwait and working with the locals. I don't know much else; apparently Psych Ops likes to keep some of their stuff private. I can see why, haha.

haha yea thats understandable. im sure its a great job that has direct civilian counterpart jobs in public relations or law enforcement...perhaps even CIA

And yes, I meant to say 'remember you.'
Or maybe I'm just sleepy and can't type correctly at the moment. :P

Hey Shasta! I just thought of something!!
*Reminder to follow the link on my profile page!*
Lol. Yes, a crude way to remember you, but it works.
ShrapnullDrawing 3 years ago

And stop playing with toys, exercise your rights and buy the real thing already.
mjeilson 3 years ago
pretty sure the SMLE's do not have "Detachable" box magazines. and by the way, id love to exercise my rights, but im 17. im in the army but i cant be trusted with a privately owned firearm for another few months apparently =P
shastadude13 3 years ago
They do have detachable box mags (10 rounds); though, more commonly troops would use stripper clips to load them from the top rather than carry spare box mags themselves.
Heck, even the Indian Commonwealth 2-A SMLE Enfields in .308 Win have detachable box mags.
As for exercising your rights, jump on it as soon as you can: prices will never go any lower and availability probably won't get any higher. Turn 18 soon :P and buy,buy,buy....
mjeilson 3 years ago
man that was hilarious. its not a cocky thing, its a charging handle lol. agree 100percent, spot on video mate. 'so you can stop sounding like an idiot' lol so true!

hehe thanks man. happy hunting =]
shastadude13 3 years ago
hehe true that man! yeah my dad is buying me either a springfield xd 9mm or a glock 19 when i turn 18. its legal in my state to own one at 18, you just cant buy it from a licensed dealer, it has to be bought for you or given to you.
my dads also buying me an AR15 with my money when i get back from training in august. i figure if the shit hits the fan, i gotta have a weapon to get me to an armory when the commies invade, right? ;)

that was great i really hope some idiots learn something i learned new things about magazines and clips lol the one thing that bugged me about your "lingo"is how you said carbine it is not car-bean like you pronounce its carbine
alginplumkin 3 years ago
you're about the third person to mention that about carbine...its pronounced either way, personal preference.

Also, when people call their AR15 an M16(which implies atleast some limited form of automatic capabilities as are present in military rifles) it pisses me off a little. It would annoy me more if military designations weren't so jacked up.
ysayell 3 years ago
while the gun-rifle thing is technically true... most military folk will not rip you a new one for it. It is more commonly referred to as your weapon, your best friend, your life, or, occasionally by numerical designation or by her individual name (i.e. the M16A2 I was equipped with for my most recent Army BRM is Sasha, 153-20). Magazine-clip makes me want to gouge out eyes and most the other comments are why i mock most airsoft people and posers who have no idea what they are talking about.
ysayell 3 years ago
haha good post. whats your MOS?
shastadude13 3 years ago
God Bless you, call it a carbine not carbyne and magazine not clip someone undestands thank god

about how low?
my M15A4 shoots on average around 250 fps with .2g and i use .25 and i still get great range and accuracy. would be interesting to see if a rifled barrel would improve that if 250 is low enough
shastadude13 3 years ago
310 FPS
uwanaugoda 3 years ago
i might check that out. hows the price on it and where can i find it?
im looking at getting a TB barrel, but this might be better. oh yeah, thats if i can crack my friggin M15A4 open. why did classic army have to make it so difficult? why cant it be like every other AR15 type AEG where it breaks down like the real steel? jeez louise.
shastadude13 3 years ago
very easy jest take out the 2 pins on the side oh and i belive its around 30-50 ...pretty pricy but its way more expencive if u buy a twist barrel like u want..
uwanaugoda 3 years ago
i got the pins out, couldnt slide apart the upper and lower. it was stuck and i didnt wanna force it.
shastadude13 3 years ago
DONT PULL UP!! make sure your battery connections are diconected and slide forward. Its suppose to be hard to pull forward tho because of the tight fit around the gear box..
uwanaugoda 3 years ago
couldnt get the upper more than maybe 1/2 an inch forward of the lower---couldnt even get to disconnect the batteries lol. ill give it a good ramming =P
shastadude13 3 years ago
ok but there are basic steps...
1.dissconect the battery
2.take out both pins forward and back
3.slide upper reciver forward
4.take out all body pins
5.take out the handle with motor
6.take out rear screw in stock
7.take out gearbox and work on it
8.same steps but in reverce
uwanaugoda 3 years ago
i thought you meant the connectors inside the AEG, my bad. idk what i was thinking with battery connections lol
shastadude13 3 years ago
JUST PUSH HARD TRUST ME....
uwanaugoda 3 years ago
THERE IS RIFELING IN SOME BARELLS
uwanaugoda 3 years ago
mhmm. weve established already in previous comments that there are aftermarket barrels you can get for your AEG that have rifling in the barrel, though the additional stability granted is questionable as the projectile itself is round.
shastadude13 3 years ago
actually the "foward assist" on a real m16/ar-15 varriants is a gas release button

thank you. you gave a few to many gun examples but this guide was perfect. theres nothing more annoying than a 12 year old who just got a gun and starts blabbing randomly when your looking for an honest helpful review of a gun

first off. good stuff in the video. second off people dont really care if it is totally correct. language and slang terms differ from area to area. so great job. your very intelligent. but im sad to say. most people will not care. at all.
rocketskateboard 4 years ago
overall its correct vocab. but you show a picture of the m 777 howitzer. a medium muzzle velocity, medium trajectory artillery piece. a gun is a high muzzle velocity, low trajectory artillery piece.

IamaEuropean 4 years ago
First of all, I'm sorry to say this, but your wrong about the Magazine/Clip Topic. I did some research on it to confirm my info and according to the History Channel (Mail Call), The host (Former Marine) & a Brigidaer General: A magazine is the part that contains the clip & the rounds. The clip is the mechanism that feeds the rounds into the chamber. Hence, in a airsoft magazine, the spring is the clip and the tube and loader is part of the magazine.
fearnoevil22 4 years ago
"A magazine is the part that contains the clip & the rounds. The clip is the mechanism that feeds the rounds into the chamber."
The magazine is in fact the house of the ammunition. A clip feeds ammunition into the magazine, or stores it in the magazine. A spring is just that---a spring.
shastadude13 4 years ago
yes but the tanio wont let you use the hop up, causing great loss of range which is where you want the accuracy in the first place because with any barrel thats is reasonable clean can accurately hit a target at 75 (rough estimate) which is this barrels limit without hop up so unless you at a range and have 5 hours to line up your shot, this barrel becomes useless and still it does not have dead on accuracy so imo just get a tightbore(half the price) and excel bb's
goxsv 4 years ago
dude theres a rifled airsoft barrel its called the tanio koba twist barrel
iamspecial101 4 years ago
hmm awesome! msrp? and would it have any effect? the projectile is round so i wouldnt think that it would increase accuracy or stability
shastadude13 4 years ago
i think there is a video on it they put it in a tm m14 and it increases the accuracy very well
