  • The only thing I learned from George's instructional videos was that I should stick to the ramones.

  • what is the song at the start of the video i cant find it any where!

  • If you don't know how to tune to Eb, you shouldn't be watching a George Lynch instructional video.

  • "So, you're the famous Max Norman."

    "What?"

    "I said, so you're the famous -"

    "Speak up a bit!"

heeheh This was when Lynch was playing cool and his tone was great. He didn't try to overthink it and prove anything.

  • Does anybody have the Tabs for the tuning

  • Ok, I'm throwing my guitar in the trash now.

  • The intro riff and soloing already set the tone of Lynch's style of playing, sound and lesson, BALLSY like you never got, a level of testosterone like a 100 bull cluster, maximum guts playing ! THe intro make your ball explode, even your guitar neck got jizzed after that dude !!

  • Practiced this lesson for the past 3 hours. I now have an ice bag on my hand F U for being so stellar Mr. lynch!

  • This is rad

  • "In this next section, we're going to be discussing shapes, which make up an important part of my playing... But enough about my hairstyle, let's play some guitar... " (on a serious note, Lynch is indeed awesome though)

  • God he chokes his pick up so high you cant even see it

  • lost me on the tune to Eb...

  • I also can't stand these videos, he always tries to show you useless impossible licks. I just want to learn his alternatives to the blues scales...

  • He needs to go back to this setup with the Soldanos, his tone blows now...

  • Did anyone get that first bit he went through?

  • It's the hair. If it wasn't for the hair, he couldn't play at all.

  • it's not a sitar

  • George Lynch isn't doing this to teach you..if anything, you should understand the amount of work and practice it takes to get that good..let alone apptitude, which can't be learned or taught..get over it ! lol

  • I'd love to see this guy in a guitar store asking.."Does this amp work?" ;>

  • me and george are freinds on facebook

  • Lynch was better with Dokken.imoThe hunter is one of the best metal riffs.

  • Is that Sarah Connor on the mixing desk?

  • @BigOldToe ahahaha legend

  • i just meet him yesterday what a great guy and an all around amazing guitar player!

  • damn that 40 year old lesbian producer can make the highs sing on this track

  • the only thing i've learned from this, is that i will never be able to play like him

  • @chapametal08 You could practice...

  • @austinfailz i do..., i do... every fukin day xD

  • @chapametal08 ROFL

  • lesson number one: George lynch is GOD

  • to bad Max Norman doesnt produce records anymore

  • Fuck he plays with his left hand so lightly

  • In every video of Lynch he´s got too much of the f***´in reverb -.-

    But love his playing

  • Bow before Sensei Lynch !

  • Wankity wank wank wank!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • I WANT THAT TONE!

  • I bought this when it first came out , still have it on vhs, met george 4 times since, still my inspiration for picking up the guitar every day btw i have 4 kids and Im 42 years old..

  • the sound guy looks like he's getting a BJ under the bench.

  • @brysonz "the sound guy" is Max Norman, the producer. Just thought I'd clear that up ;-).

  • @432b86ed Oh was that you under the bench? Sorry! J/k ;)

  • Comment removed

  • you guys got to be aware this video came with a tablature book of all the licks he played so thats why he doesn't really breakdown much of the licks

  • 6:23-6:32....chills

  • how is it possible to remember that whole solo

  • I could watch him doing solo all day ;D

  • I could watch him solo all day

  • Van Halen plays, Lynch Kills!!

  • Only George Lynch Can Say he's giving a lesson and Keep people Watching For 7 Minutes before He Shows you anything Other Than His Badass Jamming its like he's Saying You will never Be this good in some Psychotic Guitar Morse Code

  • @jacobamado ROFL well its true , he is one of the very best and personally I consider him the Best for the rock era music. I love steve vie but he isnt all rock.

  • @megadethmofo Hahahaha! So true...

  • one of my favourite guitarists, i saw him at the wembley guitar show in the late naughties, gosh he looked like a tramp, burnt out with so much drugs, i assume.

  • Holy Fucking Shit!!!!

    this guy is A.M.A.Z.I.N.G.!

the 80's metal is the best, Period!!

i really love the instrumental rock

is underrated, but is a kick ass

check the works of Vinnie Moore and Jason Becker!!

    awesome stuff there

    Regards!!

  • seeing lynch in the Guitar Bible vid and now watching this makes me think that he was high on soemthing while doing this video

  • this is before george hit the juice, sustanon 250/deca durabolin

  • @Bang4URBux and you know he specifically used the ole' Tijuana Combo".....???...that was funny

  • @JTFSIX his days of travelling over the border, he got the combo right

  • george has become at same era of van halen and randy roads,,and a interview released to randy at early 80,s he said that he admired too much this new guy george lynch, and he saw more prespective position that edward van halen on his playing for the new era,,,and so..

  • I have always wanted to have hair like that.

  • Not only is this guy a magor force in guitar, but I've met him twice...he's a great guy, very kind and generous. It was great to talk a bit of guitar with Goerge.

  • Crazy how good he is.The guy is a machine.

  • Inspiring to say the least.

  • Total power!!

  • I wish you idiots would stop with your "My fave guitarist, is better then your fave guitarist contests." I mean grow the fuck up. Ask yourselves why you all suck and will never be good? Because you're too busy whining and crying and complaining. Shut the fuck up and go practice.

  • GLASS BREAKING LICK!!!

  • i want that background track

  • tumbs up if you agree thats fucking insane and you want his babies... :O

  • Eddies my second fav and love his work, but hammer tapping and the whammy bar became used alot, like I feel Yngwie uses arppegios alot and I love their stuff don't get me wrong, but I love George because yes he taps, but not as much and yes he has arpeegiated, but not that much and uses the whammy bar,but doesn't wear it out because his best vibrato comes straight from his hand and not a bar!

  • @z1g You are right and my bad,and I do love Malmsteen and he is like 5th in my top ten and he does play with feeling and to be 5th on my list must mean he is very good!..Just after a while the arpeggiating thing etc I just sorta don't listen to him like I once did and just listen to a few songs now and then these days and got my fix....It's preference and opinion yanno?..Just like I thought Eddie Van was my fav for a while, but then felt in the late 80's he got whammy bar happy.A good thing but!

  • @MrPetie2 "to be 5th on my list must mean he is very good!.." bwahahaha!!!! you floppin tit!!!!

  • Insane shredding at 3:01

  • The way he's talking reminds me of Martha Stewart..

  • why do all guitarists have delay on when they do an instructional dvd?

  • @HiImJerry8 Everything had a delay on in the 80s ;)

  • George Lynch... legend... no doubt.

  • this guy is the shit

  • this is like a poor version of surfing with the alien =P-

  • how come he has the shitty floyd rose ?

  • @algor123 Well, maybe he likes it -.-

    I sure do.

  • @algor123 this was in the 90's...the version he has in this vid might have been the latest and greatest. or maybe he is partial to this model...just a guess

  • @algor123 shitty floyd rose? that keepys the gitar in tune when he shreds like that...

  • @metalhead6777777 shut up you dont even know what your talking about, the better floyd roses wammy bar stays in places instead of being really lose, and its for when he does dive bombs

  • @algor123 You do know that you can adjust that right?

  • @algor123 cause george lynch don't give a fuck haha

  • god guys, just enjoy the music. if you dont like it, watch something else and dont comment. jesus. stop fighting. nobody wants to see that shit.

  • Hahahaha! I love you too, xTr0nx !

  • Was lucky enough to get a chance to meet him at a clinic. Nice guy.

  • Boring...

  • @xTr0nx you spelled sight wrong

  • @Samvrag yepp good tech but very boring....im a big fan of tech.but it needs soul aswell...

  • Comment removed

  • @Samvrag exact..cool ur not afraid to say it =)

i think he is a OVER OVER OVER rated gp

in the intro if you look close he's repeating the same patterns over and over again.

  • @guitarralaraja: Hey you...before you make a comments...make sure you know how to play a guitar rather than making a comments that you know nothing...and post your own technique or skills in playing a guitar...

    regards

  • @guitarralaraja what a child comment man haha your the child yet you dont like this guy but you spend your time on his video

  • @dokken447 i dont have to answer a subjective guy with anickname dokken =s.

    that says all.

  • @guitarralaraja alright thats fine with me :)

  • @guitarralaraja

Nah- the most over-rated player these days is Alexi Laiho.

  • @TimeLordGuitar that's true as well-...but you cannot say that lynch is a guitar god, that's not true,, there are 1000000000 better than him.. he doesnt play bad at all.. but he's over rated.

  • @guitarralaraja you got that right, he's really overrated, no taste no feel.. warren is a much better player........

  • @Guitarwannabee if anything, george is extremely underated compared to many guitar players out there that get a whole lot more credit than he does. and Warren was heavily influenced my George and has stolen many licks from George like the finger vibrato's that he does. so that doesnt make any sense

  • @guitarralaraja

George's vibrato and phrasing are what I enjoy most about his playing.

He's certainly not the most gifted "technician" around. Technically advanced players usually have poor vibrato, zero phrasing skills and awful rhythm-guitar skills. (There are exceptions of course...but not a whole hell of a lot.) Players that are great at the more ornamental elements of guitar playing such as vibrato/phrasing are often lacking in technical ability...and vice-versa.

  • @TimeLordGuitar

    So true

  • @guitarralaraja Youre crazy dude. You can say that there are 100000000000 better than him, but that's subjective. IMO he has the best phrasing Ive ever heard, and his style is 1 of a kind. I would rather listen to george play than anyone but eric johnson. End of story.

  • @DethByMyIbanezAxe you tell me crazy and you are putting george and eric in the same "leagues".. ohhhhhh cannot beleive it...

after your words im completly sure im not the crazy one,,,, YOU ARE MAN!!..

  • he is amazeing ;)

  • I love this soloing over his tracks. God George is good.

  • george lynch is my new hero xD

  • Max Norman, the dude sitting down, engineered/produced the Ozzy/Rhoads album Diary of a Madman.

  • it sounds good but i cant watch him play, it grosses me out, looks like his hands are in a current state of being cramped up Oo

  • Stop Bitchn and just enjoy the ride!!!

  • KristoferDahl is shite, whats happened to America?

  • Don't waste your time seeing this sucker. Is this the dvd 'Things to play when you suck'?Just click right to the related videos the Malmsteen lessons to see how real shredding looks like. if you still think that lynch is better than malmsteen then you have some real serious issues with your brain....

  • @DimiCOB Why because Malmsteen learned to sweep?...Yawn that style got boring!...Yes repetitiive and he over did it and yawn Malmsteen is not all that and could do more like Lynch and use more open scaling and playing outside a repetitive box and maybe add some feeling other than ...ugh um arpeggiating!..I like Malmsteen, but after like 20 minutes it bores me!...I have serious issues with my brain because Malmsteen cannot compare!...Go listen to Impelliteri and see what I mean...Reptitive scales!

  • @Petie1

First of all Lynch can't shred. What's the difference between some1 who plays guitar about two years and this sucker? All his songs suck his improvisations are the most rediculous one's i've ever seen and he plays line a beginner. Malmsteen is the first shredder before him no1 could sweep or play fast. All and i mean all the shredders have been strongly influenced by Malmsteen. He brought guitar to a different level. Before him shredding simply didn't existed.

  • @DimiCOB Apparently you never heard of Al Di Meola.

  • @janderson2000

Of course i know him and i know paco de lucia too dumbass.I simly can't write down all the great guitarists

  • @DimiCOB Well, then clearly YOU are the dumbass to not know that yngwie did NOTHING new except for ripping off Al Di Meola, Uli Jon roth, Allan Holdsworth, and Ritchie Blackmore.

  • @DimiCOB Lynch did bring some things to the table, maybe not with so much drama like Malmsteen, but he showed how 80s L.A. guitar metal should sound like. His tone was widely desired back in those days. His combination of legato and alternate picking gave him a very "slippery" sound that set him apart from pure shredders like Gilbert. He was all over the guitar magazines back then. Malmsteen is definitely one of the best shredders; comparing him to Lynch is apples and oranges.

  • @Petie1

Paul Gilbert,Jason Becker,Michael Romeo,John Petrucci,Michael Angelo Batio,Jeff Loomis... wouldn't exist(as guitar players) if Malmsteen didnt exist.Have you seen him playing at the age of 18,19?it's like comparing a ferrari Enzo with a lada.Lynch has offered nothing to guitar playing and no1 will remember him.Malmsteen is the biggest influence.Hendrix and Malmsteen are the most "innovative"guitarists and Malmsteen is one of the greatest composers and best shredders.

  • @DimiCOB all those guys wouldnt exist if malmsteen didnt??!! DO YOU PROMISE??!!! cause if so i need to get cracking on a time machine and go back and kill that mother f*&ker so that i dont have to read comments from pre pubesant, "shredding" obsessed wankers like you!!! "oh look i can sweep pick a thousand times through arpeggios in every key at the speed of light and then add a few taps at the end!!""who cares if it has less soul than lindsey lohans eyes and sounds like shit!!"

  • @Petie1 its a shame because im a huge malmsteen fan, but its true. I can listen to his playing for ages but it does start getting a bit like "yeah, ok we get it". and impelliteri... god i dont know man, i listened to 17th cetury chicken picken, thats all ive listened to by him because after about 1:30 i cant take it. great for finger excersises, shit for musicianship.

  • Who is this guy and what band does he play for????

  • @chopperharris100 im asking myself the same thing lol. i like his playing tho

  • @K3NxRaiNsxBl00d I found out in the end he plays for some 80s hair metal band called dokken

  • @chopperharris100 haha oh. i found out on the esp guitars website

  • @chopperharris100 lynch mob, dokken and some others i dont know. check out Dokken

  • Look at the fingers on his right hand. They are all detecting water:) Or trolls.. You decide!

  • which DVd is this from?

  • @trafficjam10 its from his 1st instructional video from REH. It was originally on tape, came out in the late early 90s i believe. I think you may be able to find it on dvd somewhere, not too sure though

  • Re: Navyxsealxguy. Back at you, buddy. Handle it.

  • Excellent player with incredible chops and unique style, but I have to agree that his tone on this video isn't great. Presence heavy, a bit shrill and laden with too much reverb/delay at times. Lych still rules, though.

  • Always loved the sustained bends. Huge part of his style and what makes him one of my all time favorites.

  • The tone was AWESOME for the time period!!! This is the sound a lot of us were trying to get in the late 80's/early 90's. I think some of you are too young and have been pre-conditioned by the last 16 years of modern guitar tone. Mind you, I can appreciate what "today" is considered great guitar tone, but I remember this time period well. Appreciate it for what it was.... and not try to apply modern standards to everything.

  • Really good guitar player, but his tone sucks! WAAY to much reverb. Sounds muddled and plastic. But as I said, he's a great player.

  • @LABorden That's because his guitar body was all made of Maple that's why his tone has so much treble

  • Re: YAZ I am not "watching it," in fact; however, I get a kick out of reading the silly commentary.

  • @MegaBoogity get the fuck outa hear queer u can envy Lynch all u want

  • What a bunch of crap

  • @MegaBoogity y r u watching it?

  • Best tone period, listen to that groove, damn its so shredding damn is all i can say cant wait to see you in Seattle George

  • @sklallam1 Dude the tone sucks, too much delay, you cant even hear what he's playing

  • i like the engineer sitting, smiling and rocking in his underwear ;-)

  • coool

  • Spokanes really know how to rock!

  • Heavy metal is awesome.

  • He has had a heavy influence on my playing. And I sincerely thank him for that. Playing the way he does in this video just kicks ass. Slippery fretting mixed with random pinch harmonics and vibrato, and hot tone. Nice.

  • @QuantumStates he is the reason i picked up guitar

  • Does anyone know what song that is in the intro, or is that just improv? That's a great riff.

  • @LAKAIGUY27 I'm pretty sure it's a shredding solo he came up with just for the intro of his DVD

  • most cool

  • 00:57

  • I remember when guitar was fun and you theory fucktards hadn't ruined it yet. Way to go, dipshits. Theory is used to have an intelligent conversation with another guitarist you don't use it to write material or you might as well be doing math homework.
