I have been a die-hard fan of the Williams F1 Team all my life! I am watching these videos from the past glory of the Williams team and I wonder: Why we couldn't make it with the BMW engine? Will Renault help Williams to score the team's first win since 2004? Will Williams start to be competitive again? It is a shame to watch the beautiful blue and whit cars battling out with teams that have not even half the experience that the Williams has! One thing is certain:I will forever be a Williams fan
@darthbandon10 And he could win a another race during the 1997 saison, but for some problems, he gave the lead to Villeneuve ... 1998 was like frenchs call it the "chant du signe", his last victory at Spa.
This should have been on BBC Sport's website in the classic F1 section as chosen by Nico Rosberg, but the BBC couldn't put this race up due to "insufficient coverage". So its great to relive this fabulous race. Even if Villeneuve had retired from this race, Schumacher should have been disqualified from the championship for his dirty assault on Villeneuve.
@wak4life please, michael is still entitled to take the corner but villeneuve drove him wide, just at the same time when michael was turning in. Stewarts surely would relate this to adelaide 1994 collision with damon hill and punish michael for cheating. This is in part confirmation bias. In todays context, this will be dealt with as a racing incident. Villeneuve actually outbraked himself and would not have made it had schumacher not hit him. That helped to slow the williams rd the corner.

@Diablotindechap4 It was very common for Hill to qualify well in 97 but fall off in the race due to technical problems.
