  • @MaxBassBoost The Coup's song came out years before Method Man's. Method Man even used Boots's flow since it was on the same beat.

  • @FunkFight1 I'd don't know about "meth" using the same flow as boots but, I definitely agree with you that this beat was used for this song way before it was used on Red and Meth's Serial Killer....

  • The structure of this song is fantastic. Its like an essay.

  • @PureGeanyis This was a pure classic from it's inception. Even Boots probably didn't know how good this was when he was writing it. Dope!

  • holy shit, this blew my mind

  • This was directed by Robert Caruso.

  • MURDERMURDERMURDER KILLKILLKILL!

  • That old white dude rapping is the best part of the vid hahaha

  • Haha i don't understand why he's a communist if he is a hustla, how's comunism gonna work like that? Anyways the ending is kinda like he cares about the comunity, but it also seems like he wants to know how to hustle in bigger ways and that is capitalism.

  • @ThaReaalness You fail to recognize the need for hustling under a capitalist system. It is a necessity under the current economic pressures that form the need to hustle.

  • @impermanentrage well i don't fail to recognize it, i acknowledge it. The rules are what they are and i personally am aware of the way the economic struggle works. That doesn't mean that people that are on the lower half of capitalism would accept communism specially if they are fond of hustling since it's a way of life you can't get rid of your habits that easily.

  • @ThaReaalness You miss the point. The idea of communism is about fairness, an equal share for all. If you're stuck in a system that promotes unfairness and inequality, you better learn about it for if 1. you want your fair slice or 2. you're interested in bringing the system down. "I'm getting hustled only knowin' half the game." Research the Federal Reserve, then talk to me about hustlin'.

  • @aceholepictures Cummunism and socialism in theory works, in practice it doesnt. We are in a society that tells us global corporate-nation monopolies exsisting in the same zip code as minimum wage that forces people to be on government support is good, and that the concept of anyone willing to work 40hrs a week should not have to struggle to live is bad. Screw America, screw the world. Its all done for a reason, and its not just bad politics.

  • @AndrewKH85 Communism has never been put into practice. I'm not sure what you are trying to tell me. Less of the 'we' please I don't live in your bullshit country.

  • This my shit, was 95 in H-TOWN bumpin this shit, and some frys a be hella nice

  • major props on the post....

  • damn this fool can spit.

fucken gets down at the end.

  • Absolutely bomb! Does anyone know the significance (if any) of "It reads macaroni on my birth certificate" at 4:14 ? That line just sounded so tight I was curious.

  • This is the only video on YouTube that I legitimately feel comfortable saying:

    "That's straight up dope."

  • I used to rep this song hard on the meeean streets of annaville in my 88' gmc jimmy.

  • True old school!

  • Aint seen or heard this since freshman year in highschool. Damn 1995.

  • this song's the shit

  • slept on because they arent about bullshit

  • Classic Shit.....so underated...so dope. This is what hip hop is about!

  • I am just now discovering The Coup. I had heard some of their songs like once before and liked them, but now I'm seeing how ingenious they are. They have social commentary, beats and they're hood. Usually you only get one or 2 of those at a time.

  • Get Down Get Down Get Down..

I Am Getting Down To This !

    Believe THAT !

  • Genius!!!

  • Boots is just the fucking best. Way different style than most other so called conscious rappers. And the music is great too! Love this shit so much.

  • this is REAL rap, not the crap that comes out today

  • @Dillbob1 - DAMN right mate!

  • @Dillbob1 There is plenty of great rap coming out today. Don't be ignorant.

  • @AliG4life Name me one good hip hop artist (or more if you can) that delivers such clean and original performances as that or other things from the 90s.

  • @LpW1LL Blackalicious (Gift of Gab), Blu & Exile, Sean Price, Evidence, Reef the lost Cauze, Immortal Technique, Dilated Peoples, Jedi Mind Tricks, Army of the Pharaohs, etc.

Some of these started in the 90s, but didn't break through till after 2000.

  • @Dillbob1 - @Dillbob1 - Learn a lesson, my friend, K-Os, Little Brother, Nyle, Shad, Asheru, The Cool Kids, MF Doom, Blu, Outasight, 9th Wonder, Murs, TiRon...just to name a few. There's a shit load of good hip-hop out there. Open those ears, and see some shows.

  • prefer this to cereal killer

  • DO YOU UNDERSTAND!?!?!?

  • boots you are a god on the boom bap spit

  • This should be mandatory listening to all of us being held captive in the U.S. by the powers that be.

  • Damn gotta miss Bay Area rap at it's prime

  • bahaha

  • im diggin the bassline

  • Solid gold classic hip hop. Should be taught in schools.

  • @CoolAidGTO now the funny thing about your comment is at my high school there is a hip hop class called interdisciplinary poetics, and guess what song we all listened to one day.

  • man cereal killer from method man and redman is much better but it's still good.

  • her breath's like murdah that shits funny!

  • what song is that reggae part in the beggining from?

  • post fixation

  • Great lyrics, although this cleaned-up version is a little less edgy than the original.

  • I HATE RAP.....because you don't hear stuff like THIS anymore! This is old school hip hop at it's best. He actually has more to say than just talking about his rims, money, or bitches. To all other aspiring rappers out there: pay attention to this group. Take notes. When you get done, make it obvious that you actually put some thought into your lyrics. Thanks for posting this sirdynozxiv!

  • @jeffdaddy752 you should check out mos def.

  • @jeffdaddy752 Agreed Those Faggots like Lil Wayne and Soulja Boy Fukin Posers

  • @jeffdaddy752

Pay attention, take notes, and remain obscure, because your message doesn't blunt or deflect rage from where it belongs.

  • @jeffdaddy752

It's a conspiracy man.. hip hop got cointelpro'd when it started threatening the establishment. You won't get a major record deal if it isn't dumbing down people. They want us stupid, docile and drugged up.

  • @jeffdaddy752 Boots Riley is still making music man. The Coup has a new album coming out soon and he has collaborated with Tom Morello to start Street Sweeper Social Club.

  • @jeffdaddy752 Word

  • @jeffdaddy752 its not there fault (other rappers )the coup (hip hop)are "independent"

  • @jeffdaddy752 AMEN!

  • God, this song is so great. I'm plotting how I can make my coworkers and people in my life watch it ALL the way.
