I found great pleasure in reading the discussion between Christisking4all and you readmuch. I studied the bible from the 3rd grade through school. I see c4all's point and see yours as well. You shouldn't argue. You both are right imho. I personally am a gnostic believer, The bible had to "hide" certian knowledge "parable" so they would not be removed. @jesuriah Metaphysics as defined by this video yes, but real metaphysics as it is practiced in philosophy departments. Just google it, some of the worlds most recognized intellectualls are into metaphysics, continentalists such as Derrida, Heidegger, Husserl and americans like Richard Rorty or Hillary Putham.
I doubt there will be a time when 100% are born enlightened. One can't really appreciate the end goal he didn't work for. The sport of climbing wouldn't just disappear because we found a technology that places men on Mt. Everest effortlessly.

The closest thing I could contemplate to an alternate fundamental greater reality and existence to what we're experiencing right now, is that we might all be collectively part of a quantum soup where time has no meaning.

yes people have used "Metaphysics" to view the universe and the fabric of the cosmos to develop a certain view or perspective towards our existence(that I do not dispute), "Metaphysics" is actually a term coined from the perspective of "Western" science. However in the "East" particularly in China, what Westerners call metaphysics, Easterners call "Qigong" or "Cultivation Practice" and they have a much greater insight into this matter from a more simpler but higher perspective.
if you wish to research further into this, you should try so from the Eastern holistic perspective, Western science is quite limited because they take the route of studying the substance itself from the most superficial and materialistic perspective rather then observing the substance from the vantage point of Nature, Life and the Universe itself, so they usually understand these things better and with greater intimacy from a very spiritual standpoint, being that the Cosmos is all-encompassing

wow it looks like Metacool416 proved you wrong, I looked at his link and researched Falun Dafa for myself, quite impressive, it seems that there are approximately 350 million people worldwide in over 120 countries practicing Falun Gong, and this Falun Dafa was made public in 1992, so that means it was right in front our eyes this entire time for 19 years, however the form it assumed is a very subtle and peaceful one. This practice is as close as you'll ever get to metaphysics.

What I have learned and experienced to be true is that a critical thinking and a demand for evidence is what brings us closer to a correct view of the world and our lives. Since I haven't encountered any evidence, supporting the belief in a soul, I can't accept any theory that takes it for granted. I need the premises to be proven before I can accept a conclusion based upon them.

It was a baned book from 1919 of/by an author on the cutting edge at the time who wrote of topics that the media and science even then would not discuss (hence the title). There is also philosophy he wrote of which is really thought provoking even today.

I doubt there will be a time when 100% are born enlightened. One can't really appreciate the end goal he didn't work for. The sport of climbing wouldn't just disappear because we found a technology that places men on Mt. Everest effortlessly.
And is it really necessary that everyone to be enlightened? Isn't it enough that we have a certain percentage of enlightened beings for our world to thrive?
Think of the tremendous positive influence a being like Gandhi could exert on the rest of us.

The closest thing I could contemplate to an alternate fundamental greater reality and existence to what we're experiencing right now, is that we might all be collectively part of a quantum soup where time has no meaning.

you misunderstand, Christianity is just but ONE cultivation system out of thousands and thousands of other systems out there which exists. Religion is only one form of metaphysics and it is NOT the only form. If you could find a genuine Master of an orthodox or upright cultivation school then I'd say you are most fortunate.

yes people have used "Metaphysics" to view the universe and the fabric of the cosmos to develop a certain view or perspective towards our existence(that I do not dispute), "Metaphysics" is actually a term coined from the perspective of "Western" science. However in the "East" particularly in China, what Westerners call metaphysics, Easterners call "Qigong" or "Cultivation Practice" and they have a much greater insight into this matter from a more simpler but higher perspective.

if you wish to research further into this, you should try so from the Eastern holistic perspective, Western science is quite limited because they take the route of studying the substance itself from the most superficial and materialistic perspective rather then observing the substance from the vantage point of Nature, Life and the Universe itself, so they usually understand these things better and with greater intimacy from a very spiritual standpoint, being that the Cosmos is all-encompassing

wow it looks like Metacool416 proved you wrong, I looked at his link and researched Falun Dafa for myself, quite impressive, it seems that there are approximately 350 million people worldwide in over 120 countries practicing Falun Gong, and this Falun Dafa was made public in 1992, so that means it was right in front our eyes this entire time for 19 years, however the form it assumed is a very subtle and peaceful one. This practice is as close as you'll ever get to metaphysics.

I just recently went downtown to a Tianti Book store and bought both the "Falun Gong" book and "Zhuan Falun", with all the time I had to myself I finished the "Falun Gong" book in about 2 days and Iam now in the middle of Zhuan Falun, the theories,principles and concepts expressed in the book are quite profound, and I see what Metacool416 was saying,"metaphysics" is a western term and concept.Higher dimensions the electrical transformation of the human body is what the East calls "cultivation"

I've looked up alot on metaphsyics but could only find superficial explanations that always went "around the bush" sorta speaking from the western perspective. You've said you used to practice Falun Gong? what made you stop?
when reading Zhaun Falun I've already had unusual but very positive experiences, I see much knowledge and inner wisdom in the practice.

@readmuch To yourself, I'd guess. Since faith is believing without evidence, it is irrelevant to any metaphysical theory. And why you need to justify it? Because you owe it to yourself, not to fool yourself just because it makes life seem more valuable. I'm not saying that that is what you're doing.
But to have a ontological theory that involves a eternal being and an epistemology about the same, without being able to explaing why it is neccessary makes it a rather weak position.

What I have learned and experienced to be true is that a critical thinking and a demand for evidence is what brings us closer to a correct view of the world and our lives. Since I haven't encountered any evidence, supporting the belief in a soul, I can't accept any theory that takes it for granted. I need the premises to be proven before I can accept a conclusion based upon them.

What I heard about that time was that it was the time Homo Erectus were at the end of their evalution and becoming human like? 4 yourself it is a matter from my understanding to really listen to life in all it's wonder.
As quoted many times " stop and smell the roses"
We are kept in a busy life style that keeps us all from that symplicity in life retarding our very experience while trying to live in the NOW!

Great video I approve of ALOT of what you said. In fact I am trembling at the sight of observing this video the next day after last night when I spoke of the "spirit world" and getting back to our God like status of power via our mind, b/c the physical world is only a matrix illusion- so life is like a test of character- and the entities are nothing but parts of our shadown self, the physchie which is what makes up our entire living universe connecting it throught Zero Point Field of infinacy...

There are books! Like - The book of the Damned by Charles Fort it will show in part how much is covered up over the past couple of centuries.
Metaphysics to me is information in books alsoexperiences as well as what my heart tells me is true

I don't know why.
It was a baned book from 1919 of/by an author on the cutting edge at the time who wrote of topics that the media and science even then would not discuss (hence the title). There is also philosophy he wrote of which is really thought provoking even today.
Great literature!
Read Much is my title on here pronounced incorrectly as reed much by some so I separate it. Readmuch is my handle because I have and it fit at the time and does still.
Valoric Fire is my current read.

i agreed with everything he said. iinterestingly its all the beliefs i have held, well mainly in the last 5 years, influenced by learning about buddhism, meditaion and eastern philosophy.
