@squirtle92, watch the clip and you will see him swerve. buses are fitted with CCTV and Drive-well systems. You can trust or not trust as much as you like. All I will say is Rogerhotuk is lucky he did not end up in hospital and should be thanking these drivers instead of being a ignorant, opinionated fool who puts people at risk. I cannot say why the driver did not use his horn, but can say there would have been a risk of the cyclist falling off at the sudden sound of a horn.
@Toby01976 "... you will see him swerve" - See the bus swerve? Yeah, I see the bus pull in front of the cyclist!
"The sudden sound of the horn might cause a cyclist to fall of their bike"?! Please! A cyclist might be startled by a horn, but they're not bloody opossums. I guess the same thing applies to motorcyclists and pedestrians? And what if it startles a fellow motorist?! They might fall out of their car! OMG!!!!!1!!!!
@squirtle92 Trust me the bus was slowing down behind the cyclist, who then pulled into the left, then suddenly out again into the buses path. The bus nearly rear ends the bike and is forced round him therefore saving the cyclist from injury and prevents injury to his passengers. He does not accelerate pass him nor bake suddenly as he was using his retarder brake during the whole "pointless" manoeuvre caused by the cyclist. The White van in front was also forced to do the same by this cyclist
@squirtle92 and @rogerhotuk but it is ok for the cyclist to cut in front of other road users including cyclists? watch the clip properly he is in a left lane showing a left direction arrow and he goes straight ahead. he is right over the white line in the bus lane. he should have been behind the cyclist he is passing when the bus pulls up along side him having had to slow down as he pulled out in front of him making the bus swerve. to avoid rear ending him.
"DO NOT overtake where you might come into conflict with other road users.
For example approaching or at a road junction on either side of the road
where traffic is queuing at junctions or road works when you would force another road user to swerve or slow down"
You answer your own question right there in your own comment ........... I have spoken to someone who has seen this episode from the CCTV on the bus. They also were not impressed with your road skills.
@squirtle92 You would rather he ran into the back of the car, as the free gap he required was then blocked by a cyclist making an illegal overtaking manoeuvre. I showed this clip to a London United trainer who said the bus lane change was legal, but made dangerous by the cyclist.
Apparently the CCTV on the bus showed the bus nearly hit a white van that had to brake suddenly to avoid the cyclists who pulled out to pass other cyclists with out a signal or looking again lack of observation.
@Toby01976 So the bus couldn't have stayed behind the cyclist for a mere two more seconds? You can clearly see a red light ahead. Who in there right mind overtakes when there is a red light ahead?
The bus accelerates pass the cyclist, cuts him off, then brakes hard, only to have the cyclist pass him again. Hence, the maneuver was completely useless. Why couldn't the bus have waited to overtake the cyclist later, instead of executing a dangerous and useless maneuver?
get out the fucking way then you tit not like you cant fucking see it if i was driving the bus i would have moved you out the way with the bus.... get a car or a motorbike
@squirttle92 what was the bus supposed to do in the bus lane??? sit behind the cyclist even when it is safe to pass?? the cyclists are supposed to keep to single file in bus lanes as buses are going to pass them. I am sure if you were 20+ mins late for an appointment due to the bus being held up by a cyclist hogging the bus lane you would be pretty pissed at the driver.
@Toby01976 No, I never suggested that the bus should sit behind the cyclist. However, the bus should have not cut in front of the cyclist like that. That's kinda the whole point of the video...
@squirttle92 yes, that is exactly the point. some people have great difficulty in grasping this. Good luck in trying to convince @Toby01976, he's quite clearly an idiot
Give way to buses and coaches pulling off bus stops,
Cyclists beware of large vehicles
Cyclists do not pass large vehicles on the nearside
There are four re bus priority and two regarding cyclists and large vehicles off the top of my. head. What is the saying .... if you can no see my mirrors I cannot see you, also have you seen the new posters?
@johncas1 you are absolutely right driving a 15 meter band bus with a 2 meter trailer across London whilst someone is in the shower and someone else is making breakfast using boiling water and as you pull away from traffic lights on the Embankment, only to have cyclists come up your nearside and offside out of your blind spots and cut across in front of you is nothing like driving a 9 meter service bus. Where do most PCV drivers start? On service buses and you do see cyclists all across Europe
@Toby01976 Sorry what I mean is if I was driving a coach accross the alps like you was I would not expect to see a cycle yes in the city but not on the main road accross the alps
I teach kids to ride bikes and weaving in and out of the traffic expecially on a 3 lane road is not recomended stay in one lane unless you need to change lane to take another road thats how accidents happen and driving pop band buses or do you mean coach is nothing like driving a London bus most pop groups use execuitive coaches designed for the job and how many cycleists do you see going accross the alps
@arronfoster17 We do pay tax you twat councill tax which is used maintain local roads we pay it so we have the right to use the roads you twats don't realise road tax is used to maintain motorways and A Roads roads like the A1 A42 which we don't cycle on anyway any council tax payer has the right to use any council owned road I pay council tax so will cycle on a city road I pay to maintain it why pay road tax to maintain the M1 I cant cycle on it
@rogerhotuk " bus was empty. but you wouldn't know that would you?" Go get your PCV then you can look at such stupid comments as this. I agree with ataraxiaAponia comment "You're an idiot and should be banned from cycling on public roads" You have shown you are a liability and with your attitude you are the only risk to yourself and tragically to the other road users, but wait ....... it is their fault not yours.
@rogerhotuk. I did respond to your comment re Rule 133.I can see that there was plenty of room for the bus as the other cyclist did not see the need to react, It appears you did not slow down until you confronted the driver and the bus pulled in slowing and stopping in a smooth manor. His first priority is the comfort and safety of his passenger, which on a bus are not secured and often are standing and are more venerable than a cyclist who is smaller more manoeuvrable and can stop easier.
Id take a look at those hand picked ones, you are completely wrong. Everyday as a Cyclist and Motorcyclist there is at least one incident of another road user that causes a dangerous situation by lack of patience.
@shaddaz1 Clearly you need your eyes testing along with others. The bus was not behind the cyclist he was changing lanes pulling in front, the cyclist at his own admission was illegally overtaking other cyclists. The bus had loads of room to pull in and safely stop at the junction, the cyclist in front had no problems as he was also in the correct position. BTW bus mirrors are crap and have terrible bind spots, Cyclists need to take some responsibility for their own safety.
You are clearly obstructi.g the bus.. as u are overtaking d other cyclist .. as a cyclist u are supposed to stay in line .. wether or not the one in front of u is slow .. d bus did not do anything wrong here.. and also u are hogging d bus lane.. when u are overtaking it earlier...
@rogerhotuk To be honest I have better things to do with my time than keep posting on here. Face it just like the bus driver I am far more qualified on this matter and have a NVQ in PCV driving and have been a driving assessor, have driven 15 meter coaches across the alps and have driven restaurant coaches and pop band buses across Europe. And I ride a bike. Remember as a cyclist you need to make sure you can be seen and buses carry the most precious cargo n the world,.......human life!
@roherhotuk thre is plenty of room for that bus, no one else was forced out of the way and to be honest there was a good two to three feet between you and the bus. Face it you were in the wrong and have made a mountain out of a mole hill. Look through the posts a good 90 per cent of comments say the same.
@natesass hummm look at it again as there are cyclists WAY over the stop line and moving when the light is red. No one pays pavement tax you do not get it. But I am not only a coach/bus driver I also have my tier 2 BML (commercial boat masters licence) and on the river ALL vessels have to pay the equivalent of river tax be it a inflatable one man canoe, static house boat, or a triple deck passenger boat, one rule for all. when a bike skids and leaves rubber on the road that is pollution!
@rogerhotuk had you checked over your shoulder you would have seen the bus signalling to enter the lane, which you can see he had plenty of room to enter, therefore reinforcing you should not have been overtaking in the first place as stated in rule 167. You can see how much space there is because the sensible cyclist in yellow passes him and the white van with ease. Glad you are reading your highway code hope it helps you for the future.
@Toby01976 I am going to ignore most of your crap bus driver was behind cycle there fore bus driver wrong for pushing another road user out the way
does not matter what was happening in the lane with the other cycle the bus was behind and should have stayed that way and not pushed in if you was in a car you would be playing hell up over it
@rogerhotuk and what were you doing?? ......... in your own words.........overtaking! The bus was changing lanes not overtaking, therefore as you so beautifully have pointed out. You came into conflict with another road user who was clearly moving into a space to take his correct position at a junction. And later we see how you caused the bus driver to slow and swerve as you once again came into conflict when overtaking other cyclists. Hence you have just demonstrated your own fault.
@Toby01976 okay, how about Rule 133? This one is concerns lane discipline
"If you need to change lane, first use your mirrors and if necessary take a quick sideways glance to make sure you will not force another road user to change course or speed.
When it is safe to do so, signal to indicate your intentions to other road users and when clear, move over."
@rogerhotuk are you serious? Overtaking other vehicles of any description causing a potential obstruction is a manoeuvre! and you should have checked over your shoulder for potential hazards before passing the cyclists, and again as you passed. The hazards created here were your own doing and no-one else put yourself and the other cyclists at risk. If there was another cyclist on your inside when the bus was pulling in as you approached the junction, the you should not have been there SIMPLE
@rogerhotuk On the camera ur clearly over taking fellow cyclist's? Where as the majority of them are all in a line near the pavement.. I just watned to know :) It seems ur a fast paced cyclist but still why are you allowed to zoom past them all? whilst there going at a slow more relaxed pace?
Face it rogerhotuk look at the posts, you were in the wrong and you caused the whole situation that day. You failed to use adequate observation and failed to show consideration to your fellow road users. There is no anti cyclists going on here just anti bad road use.
It is people like you cycling like this that give cyclists a bad name.
We all love sensible cyclists who give way, wait behind stop lines, and signal there manoeuvres letting other road users know what they are intending to do.
@rogerhotuk Thats the whole problem here. You seem to think that only cars etc have to indicate when over taking, and use the mirror, signal, manoeuvre rule.
I KNOW you were not changing lanes, not that your appalling road position and lane discipline shows that, BUT you made a manoeuvre. Had you looked over your shoulder then the car drivers would/should expect you to do something, and YOU would have seen the bus indicating and should have pulled in to your proper road position to the left
@natesass "The bus forced this cyclist out of his lane almost into the line of the lady in the blue jacket... He lucky he didnt force at least two cyclists into traffic. TWAT!"
The cyclist should NOT have been passing, had he looked before overtaking the other cyclists he would have seen the bus indicating and should have pulled in therefore preventing the whole incident .. how did you lovingly put it...... "TWAT!"
@natesass "He stays in the same lane the whole time! Yes in the middle, but that's because they're overtaking other cyclists. not a crime or against the CODE."
But can only be done if safe to do so, Not when another vehicle is entering the lane.
You put yourself at an unnecessary risk by cycling too fast in congested areas, and failing to keep leftmost while in lane. I know cyclists have a real hard time, but I don't know why some insist on positioning square in the middle of lanes.
@Katrini89 this junction is located in central London and is pretty much unavoidable if I want to travel to work by bike. The problem with keeping left is that the lanes are very narrow through this section.
The lane simply isn't wide enough to fit a bike and car, never mind a bike and bus.
Taking a primary position here is designed to prevent drivers attempting a close overtake or squeezing you out of the lane (as in this video)
@ rogerhotuk "he had his indicator on." A brilliant argument. However, you seem to be forgetting the mirror bit in, 'mirror, signal, manoeuvre.' Time for some more driving lessons?" Really he was pulling in behind you, but YOU did not "look over your shoulder" (i.e mirror) or signal (we would see your arm as you look back to check again) before and as you passed the other cyclists (manoeuvre) so pot kettle black, the bus would have seen you as you should have seen him as you "looked".
What is so funny is watching I do not know if he is changing lane or where he is going his lane discipline and road positioning is that erratic, how was anyone else supposed to read his road actions?? If you drove a car the way he cycles you would be pulled over and tested for alcohol, yet he has the nerve to complain about a professional driver whos only error was assume the he would give way and take a legal and safe position and show care and consideration to the other road users.
@kie7077 Cyclists who have their C P know they should use the gutter and cycle lanes which this guy does not, and are told not hog the road causing other road users to go round them, which he does.
Had this cyclist looked over his shoulder he would have seen the bus indicating and there for should held back and not have been passing other cyclists forcing the bus to take evasive action, putting him and other cyclists at risk, not once but twice.
@rogerhotuk When you learn to control ANY road vehicle of ANY size you ARE taught, DO NOT take up more room THAN is necessary. On a BUSY LONDON street YOU had NO business NON AT ALL to be in the CENTRE of the lane, BUT should have been to the LEFT giving room to BIGGER vehicles, IF there was another cyclist there then you should NOT have passed UNLESS safe to do so. The ONLY mistake that bus driver made was assuming that YOU would GIVE WAY TO THE BUS as A RULE given in the HIGHWAY CODE.
Sorry but you're an epic fail. As a cyclist and a Coach driver you are in the wrong. The bus driver had his indicator on, and you were in the middle of the lane. Simples!
@superbike1981 "he had his indicator on." A brilliant argument. However, you seem to be forgetting the mirror bit in, 'mirror, signal, manoeuvre.' Time for some more driving lessons?
Cyclists do damage the road and cause pollution simply by holding back other vehicles because like the guy in the clip you do not give room for other road users and use more room than you need. Also you hardly ever signal, go wrong way along one way streets and jump lights causing accidents and then blame the other drivers. I cycle, drive cars and have driven all over Europe in coaches and band buses. I consider my fellow road users and simply put ALL vehicles on the road should pay road tax!
LOL you guys are funny. "Get exercise" Well I cycle to work and cycle ten times better than demonstrated in this video as I do not pass red lights, I signal my manoeuvres and do not put myself in a position of danger nor my fellow road users. I have trained both car and bus drivers and have done driver assessments. you not only once put yourself in danger from this bus but twice. The bus has passengers on board and they are his priority and he needed that lane you were badly positioned.
@kie7077 no shit, but its the attitude you all seem to have with it, you take the WHOLE lane to your selves, just a question, you ride for exercise right? when you hear a car coming, how about you ride onto the grass and really work those legs? that's what i did when i rode and i managed fine and kept the car drivers happy and me alive.
@suzukiholdenman We're supposed to take the whole lane, to cycle between lanes with fast moving traffic would be exceedingly dangerous, We'd prefer to be at the side of the road but that wouldn't lead to the exit we need would it. Grass!!!! is that what you're on.
When you cyclists have completed you car theory, hazard perception and practical test. Then go on to the HARDER PCV theory, hazard perception and practical test (where if you brush the curb you fail) then the PCV CPC course which gets renewed every 5 years or you loose your entitlement. And when you have seen the pictures and met the friends of those that have killed cyclists due you the cyclist undercutting the bus or lorry. then you can criticize other road users!
@superbike1981 of course there are different license requirements for driving different vehicles. the point i was trying to make was that cyclists are often drivers too.
@Toby01976 Are you a complete idiot, this bus tried to drive into a space in which there is already another road user, you can't do that, how can you not see and understand that?
Have you cared to notice you short sighted drivers, that when the cyclist is cut up, there are multiple cyclists in that lane because they're going STRAIGHT into the bike lane in about 50m. Much smarter riding taking the lane rather than having to cut across two in peak hour! Plus it was leading to a red light, so not like they were holding any dirvers up in the slightest... oooh quick, let's get to the red light faster! Cyclists have rights too you prejudiced tools!
@Natesass Fine then obey the highway code by not going the wrong way along one way streets, stop at red lights and pay road tax, register your bikes and lets have cycling as part of the DVLA licence also MOT your bikes and have lights.
@Toby01976 Ummm, they WERE stopped at the red light, if we should pay road tax, then should pedestrians pay footpath tax? We dont damage the roads and nor do we cause noise and air pollution by the tonne. Should we just tax everyone for every mode of transport because we're using land?! Go get some exercise you pent up extravagant!
Also how long had the bus been held up by the cyclist?? Note the bus was signalling, the cyclist was hogging the lane and at 2.33 ....... is that seriously sensible road use????
WATCH the video CAREFULLY. You will notice the cyclist DID NOT look over their shoulder if he had he would have seen the bus. NOR DID the cyclist at ANY point of the film signal their proposed manoeuvre therefore NOT letting the bus know they were changing lane. HENCE the cyclist was forced over. ALL RULES OF THE HIGHWAY CODE FOR CYCLISTS
ALSO in the highway code it states .................... THE BUS HAS PRIORITY.
@Toby01976 I did not see the bus as the driver was in the offside lane. This lane also goes straight on at the first junction and so the traffic doesn't need to merge into a single lane.
BTW, how can you tell if I was signalling or not? My hands / arms are out of sight from the cameras' field of vision... Oh, I get it, you are just making things up....
@rogerhotuk Well IF you signalled you would have looked OVER your shoulder not just to the left and when you looked left we would have seen your hand.
Busses USE the left hand lane so he NEEDED to come across as he also needed the up comming bus lane which is on ......... THE left. YOU had NO right being in the middle of the lane as cyclists are supposed to leave enough clearance for other vehicles bigger and more powerful than a bike.
@Toby01976 the bus didn't need to change lanes. the driver made a mistake by moving into a lane that was already occupied and failing to see the traffic stopping ahead.
@Toby01976 The cyclist DIDNT change lanes you complete fabricator!! If you cant see this in a video, how the hell did you get YOUR license?! He stays in the same lane the whole time! Yes in the middle, but that's because they're overtaking other cyclists... not a crime or against the CODE.
The bus forced this cyclist out of his lane almost into the line of the lady in the blue jacket... He lucky he didnt force at least two cyclists into traffic. TWAT!
@Natesass well said. its weird how some people seem to have viewed a completely different video. never expected it to cause so much controversy though!
The bus driver just cuts him up with blatant disregard for his safety and just expects him to give way. How can that be missed and the cyclist be blamed? he is making good progress not riding like a dick.
@emtildeath you pay out on Vehicle Excise Duty, not road tax, road maintenance and upkeep comes out of local and governmental taxes, which we All pay!
well, how antagonistic are you, knocking on the doors of the bus for some imagined "slight".
He has an very apparent mild temperament, which doesn't jive with your stupid comment, his passing was very well done, if anything the title should read "How stupid am I?" - if in face that was the case, i would have given a huge thumbs up, but as it it, its another dislike.
@AnarxKi uh-huh but this video isn't called "How angry is this bus driver?" its about a drivers inability to read the road ahead and perform a safe lane change when in charge of a large vehicle
I think you just mugged yourself off there mate. If you had to pass a test to ride a bike on the roads instead of making up your own rules to suit yourself you'd understand he did nothing wrong. He was in front , indicated then gently eased into the lane. I advise you not to knock on my truck or I'll knock on you head Lycra boy.
@tarrenteenwolf you might be surprised to find that lots of cyclists are also drivers - I've personally held a driving license for over 20 years. I don't know what rules you think I've made up or broken but I do know what this driver did wrong. If you watch it again its clear he was never in-front before changing lanes and failed to read the road ahead
As a coach Driver I can say the bus driver did nothing wrong. However you touched the bus and tried to get him to open his passenger doors onto on coming traffic to confront the driver. You then carried on in your reckless cycling by being up to three abreast, never looking over your shoulder when manoeuvring and also weaved in and out of the traffic and stayed out of the cycle lanes creating a hazard for the other road users, which then made you cross when you were spooked by your actions.
@Toby01976 I didn't "touch the bus" I banged (pretty hard) on the door. Oh, and overtaking other cyclists isn't riding three abreast. its overtaking over cyclists
@Toby01976 if you seriously are saying that bus driver did nothing wron actually pushing a biker from lane trying to squeez past them i just hope you loose your licence soon - we really don't need mentally disabled people on the road!
You want rights on the roads? Simple! (1) Pay road tax, so that you actually contribute to the upkeep of the roads you want to use. (2) Pay your insurance, so that any damage you cause to surrounding vehicles can be compensated for. And (3) Try to lose this ridiculous mindset that says you,as a vulnerable road user, somehow have the God-given right to ride badly enough to put your life at risk, whilst impeding the smooth progress of others who DO pay (1) and (2). Or failing that, catch a bus.
1) Road tax doesn't exist. Drivers pay V.E.D (car tax) but bikes are exempt (zero emissions). However, I do pay (a massive amount) tax which goes towards the roads.
2) I have insurance. This actually costs a fortune as bikes are quite expensive (and often stolen)
3) I value my life. However, I ride in a way which protects my safety. too bad if this inconveniences other road users
@rogerhotuk You ride like a dick, overtaking everyone, riding in the right hand side of the lane, often outside of YOUR designated lane (the cycle lane) and ignoring signage. If a car driver did this they would be given a fine. But you whinge because car and bus drivers have to make awkward maneuvers to get past you. Try driving a car or bus then you will appreciate that you are being an utter cunt.
@rogerhotuk Thanks, no problem. Coming from an utter cunt such as yourself, I'm glad you found my comment utter bollocks. You'd be used to making that mistake I suppose...
@ThemightymacDiesel truth be told, parts (1) and (2) of your comment are moot. The Highway Code gives cyclists the same rights on the road as motor vehicles. That's right, IT'S THE LAW. But rogerhotuk is also right, road tax doesn't exist, and cyclists often have insurance of their own.
Classic example which annoys me so much is when I drive in a car behind slow vehicle. I get to the junction and because there are two lanes before the junction which narrow to one just after the junction, it is the ONLY place where I could overtake this slow moving vehicle without causing any danger. And then I get group of bloody cyclists in front of me, which does not allow me to move off quickly enough to overtake slow vehicle. Why can't you see it and wait just 3 yards behind?
The bus overtook you and then moved back to his lane. You could have stopped behind him. The fact that you ride a bicycle does not give you a right to expect 'free flow' and a right to ride with a constant speed no matter what circumstances are around. Why do so many cyclists take this imaginary right for granted? Why can't you sometimes wait behind? Why do you always have to squeeze to the front and obstruct others?
@supergarnek the bus failed to perform a safe overtake or change of lane. He was barely half-way past before he started to move into the lane I was in.
@rogerhotuk - I have watched it closely again. It's hard to tell as we don't know what was happening on the right. Camera shows only the image of what was happening in front of you. Bus had to brake earlier to avoid hitting white van in front of him. You did not slow down your speed (as any car would do in the same position where you were) because you would carry on overtaking stationery vehicles. I know this junction very well and to be honest I wouldn't mind if taxpayers money...
... was spent on building either some sort of a bridge or tunnel for cyclists, or maybe a way along the Thames or something to avoid this horrible junction. It is dangerous enough for cars alone. If you add heavy rush hour traffic and cyclist who can't keep up with the speed of the cars - then sooner or later you will read about terrible accident there - I do not wish it to anyone though.
I dont care how much experience youve got its crazy riding in london. I wont go south go Finchely. When I ride I expect a very wide birth as vehicles over take. I do the same for them when driving even if it means I cant overtake for a while. If I dont recieve this courtesy they had better not let me catch them at the lights.
You are a fucking idiot. If I was the bus driver I would have ran over your fucking ass. Do us all a favour and get some fucking road tax and insurace you cock. I have seen you cockhead cyclists hit a car and the driver has no fucking comeback because you pricks have no insurance. You ahve no road sense whatsoever, so the best thing to do is stay the fuck off it.
@rogerhotuk Learn how to spel??? I had a typo in one word you prick. At least my grammar is not that poor that I would write such nonesense as "written on the internets" you fucking moron. But then again I expected no better from the likes of you. Now stop spouting shit and just fall under the bus next time for fuck sake you cunt.
it not so much cyclists! well done using bikes and not vehicles that is causing so much problems. it's cyclists who put videos on of people when the cyclist should be stayin out the way! they should have to do a test also to be on the road!
How stupid is this bus driver? Not very. How stupid are you? Very. Maybe if you'd kept left in your lane instead of keeping in the middle the bus moving over wouldn't have even affected you. I'm a coach driver and don't mind cyclists who use the road properly, but can't stand ones like you.
@rogerhotuk The other cyclists didn't seem to have a problem. Note how they're all as far left in the lane as they can be while you're two thirds of the way to the right. I'm a cyclist myself and I hate cyclists that shame us with this entitled behaviour. I agree with 99a3024.
@CptSchmidt entitled behaviour? get over yourself. taking a primary position through this junction follows best-practice advice. the other cyclists are taking a risk by riding too far to the left as there are vehicles passing on the nearside
@rogerhotuk Get over myself? If you can't accept criticism, you shouldn't allow comments. It seems that 486 people, plus the cyclists in your video, agree with me. You're telling me that all the cyclists keeping left, a good ten or more of them, plus the bus driver, were all in the wrong and you hadn't an ounce of wrongdoing yourself? Best practice is sharing the road, like the other cyclists were doing. You stopping to scold forced a cyclist to veer into the other lane, that's not entitlement?
@99a3024 There are 5 lanes there. Two going left and two going forwards and one going right. The bike was in the left of the lains going forwards. What other lain should he have taken? You have a HGV!!!!!!!!!
if i was the bus driver i would have chased you and made sure mt twin rear wheels went over you ya fucking dick,, youse fukers shouldnt be on the roads
maybe if bikers would all stay together on the road and not spread out across 4 lanes problems wouldnt happen..

@rogerhotuk I will try to get a copy of the cctv from the bus which is very enlightening.

Toby01976 1 day ago
@Toby01976 "... you will see him swerve" - See the bus swerve? Yeah, I see the bus pull in front of the cyclist!
"The sudden sound of the horn might cause a cyclist to fall of their bike"?! Please! A cyclist might be startled by a horn, but they're not bloody opossums. I guess the same thing applies to motorcyclists and pedestrians? And what if it startles a fellow motorist?! They might fall out of their car! OMG!!!!!1!!!!
Still waiting on that video...

Toby01976 1 day ago
@Toby01976 And how do you know that? Evidence please, because I'm not just going to trust you.
If the bus was slowing down behind the cyclist as you said, then why couldn't it continue to slow down?
And you're telling me the bus driver has never heard of a horn?

@squirtle92 and @rogerhotuk but it is ok for the cyclist to cut in front of other road users including cyclists? watch the clip properly he is in a left lane showing a left direction arrow and he goes straight ahead. he is right over the white line in the bus lane. he should have been behind the cyclist he is passing when the bus pulls up along side him having had to slow down as he pulled out in front of him making the bus swerve. to avoid rear ending him.

Toby01976 2 days ago
@Toby01976 how was this an illegal overtaking manoeuvre?
rogerhotuk 2 days ago
@Toby01976 So the bus couldn't have stayed behind the cyclist for a mere two more seconds? You can clearly see a red light ahead. Who in there right mind overtakes when there is a red light ahead?
The bus accelerates pass the cyclist, cuts him off, then brakes hard, only to have the cyclist pass him again. Hence, the maneuver was completely useless. Why couldn't the bus have waited to overtake the cyclist later, instead of executing a dangerous and useless maneuver?

get out the fucking way then you tit not like you cant fucking see it if i was driving the bus i would have moved you out the way with the bus.... get a car or a motorbike
iFKNKANED 3 days ago
@squirttle92 what was the bus supposed to do in the bus lane??? sit behind the cyclist even when it is safe to pass?? the cyclists are supposed to keep to single file in bus lanes as buses are going to pass them. I am sure if you were 20+ mins late for an appointment due to the bus being held up by a cyclist hogging the bus lane you would be pretty pissed at the driver.
Toby01976 3 days ago
@Toby01976 No, I never suggested that the bus should sit behind the cyclist. However, the bus should have not cut in front of the cyclist like that. That's kinda the whole point of the video...

@squirttle92 yes, that is exactly the point. some people have great difficulty in grasping this. Good luck in trying to convince @Toby01976, he's quite clearly an idiot

Give way to buses,
Buses and trams have priority at all times,
Give way to trams, buses, coaches.
Toby01976 3 days ago
@johncas1 you are absolutely right driving a 15 meter band bus with a 2 meter trailer across London whilst someone is in the shower and someone else is making breakfast using boiling water and as you pull away from traffic lights on the Embankment, only to have cyclists come up your nearside and offside out of your blind spots and cut across in front of you is nothing like driving a 9 meter service bus. Where do most PCV drivers start? On service buses and you do see cyclists all across Europe
Toby01976 3 days ago
@Toby01976 Sorry what I mean is if I was driving a coach accross the alps like you was I would not expect to see a cycle yes in the city but not on the main road accross the alps

I teach kids to ride bikes and weaving in and out of the traffic expecially on a 3 lane road is not recomended stay in one lane unless you need to change lane to take another road thats how accidents happen and driving pop band buses or do you mean coach is nothing like driving a London bus most pop groups use execuitive coaches designed for the job and how many cycleists do you see going accross the alps

160.4
162.3
163.1
167.6
Id take a look at those hand picked ones, you are completely wrong. Everyday as a Cyclist and Motorcyclist there is at least one incident of another road user that causes a dangerous situation by lack of patience.
1982Grrr 4 days ago
@shaddaz1 If I was driving a car I would not go mad as I would not have put myself in that position by illegally overtaking at a busy junction.
Toby01976 1 week ago
@shaddaz1 Clearly you need your eyes testing along with others. The bus was not behind the cyclist he was changing lanes pulling in front, the cyclist at his own admission was illegally overtaking other cyclists. The bus had loads of room to pull in and safely stop at the junction, the cyclist in front had no problems as he was also in the correct position. BTW bus mirrors are crap and have terrible bind spots, Cyclists need to take some responsibility for their own safety.
Toby01976 1 week ago
You are clearly obstructi.g the bus.. as u are overtaking d other cyclist .. as a cyclist u are supposed to stay in line .. wether or not the one in front of u is slow .. d bus did not do anything wrong here.. and also u are hogging d bus lane.. when u are overtaking it earlier...

That bus driver did not do anything wrong. Even as a cyclist that gets frustrated with stupid driving I cannot see anything amiss here.
paulstearne1 1 week ago
@natesass hummm look at it again as there are cyclists WAY over the stop line and moving when the light is red. No one pays pavement tax you do not get it. But I am not only a coach/bus driver I also have my tier 2 BML (commercial boat masters licence) and on the river ALL vessels have to pay the equivalent of river tax be it a inflatable one man canoe, static house boat, or a triple deck passenger boat, one rule for all. when a bike skids and leaves rubber on the road that is pollution!
Toby01976 1 week ago
@rogerhotuk had you checked over your shoulder you would have seen the bus signalling to enter the lane, which you can see he had plenty of room to enter, therefore reinforcing you should not have been overtaking in the first place as stated in rule 167. You can see how much space there is because the sensible cyclist in yellow passes him and the white van with ease. Glad you are reading your highway code hope it helps you for the future.
Toby01976 1 week ago

@Toby01976 I am going to ignore most of your crap bus driver was behind cycle there fore bus driver wrong for pushing another road user out the way
does not matter what was happening in the lane with the other cycle the bus was behind and should have stayed that way and not pushed in if you was in a car you would be playing hell up over it
Shaddaz1 1 week ago
what was the problem - I don't understand?
lsbrother 1 week ago
@rogerhotuk and what were you doing?? ......... in your own words.........overtaking! The bus was changing lanes not overtaking, therefore as you so beautifully have pointed out. You came into conflict with another road user who was clearly moving into a space to take his correct position at a junction. And later we see how you caused the bus driver to slow and swerve as you once again came into conflict when overtaking other cyclists. Hence you have just demonstrated your own fault.
Toby01976 1 week ago
@Toby01976 okay, how about Rule 133? This one is concerns lane discipline
"If you need to change lane, first use your mirrors and if necessary take a quick sideways glance to make sure you will not force another road user to change course or speed.
When it is safe to do so, signal to indicate your intentions to other road users and when clear, move over."
rogerhotuk 1 week ago
@rogerhotuk are you serious? Overtaking other vehicles of any description causing a potential obstruction is a manoeuvre! and you should have checked over your shoulder for potential hazards before passing the cyclists, and again as you passed. The hazards created here were your own doing and no-one else put yourself and the other cyclists at risk. If there was another cyclist on your inside when the bus was pulling in as you approached the junction, the you should not have been there SIMPLE
Toby01976 1 week ago
@Toby01976 I think Highway Code Rule 167 is pretty clear on why the driver was in the wrong
DO NOT overtake where you might come into conflict with other road users.
For example approaching or at a road junction on either side of the road
where traffic is queuing at junctions or road works
when you would force another road user to swerve or slow down
stay behind if you are following a cyclist approaching a roundabout or junction, and you intend to turn left
rogerhotuk 1 week ago
@rogerhotuk On the camera ur clearly over taking fellow cyclist's? Where as the majority of them are all in a line near the pavement.. I just watned to know :) It seems ur a fast paced cyclist but still why are you allowed to zoom past them all? whilst there going at a slow more relaxed pace?
Cloudy609 1 week ago
Face it rogerhotuk look at the posts, you were in the wrong and you caused the whole situation that day. You failed to use adequate observation and failed to show consideration to your fellow road users. There is no anti cyclists going on here just anti bad road use.
It is people like you cycling like this that give cyclists a bad name.
We all love sensible cyclists who give way, wait behind stop lines, and signal there manoeuvres letting other road users know what they are intending to do.
Toby01976 1 week ago
@rogerhotuk Thats the whole problem here. You seem to think that only cars etc have to indicate when over taking, and use the mirror, signal, manoeuvre rule.
I KNOW you were not changing lanes, not that your appalling road position and lane discipline shows that, BUT you made a manoeuvre. Had you looked over your shoulder then the car drivers would/should expect you to do something, and YOU would have seen the bus indicating and should have pulled in to your proper road position to the left
Toby01976 1 week ago
@Toby01976 which manoeuvre are you talking about?
rogerhotuk 1 week ago
@natesass "The bus forced this cyclist out of his lane almost into the line of the lady in the blue jacket... He lucky he didnt force at least two cyclists into traffic. TWAT!"
The cyclist should NOT have been passing, had he looked before overtaking the other cyclists he would have seen the bus indicating and should have pulled in therefore preventing the whole incident .. how did you lovingly put it...... "TWAT!"
Toby01976 1 week ago
Toby01976 okay, what do you think would've happened if I had "pulled in?"
rogerhotuk 1 week ago
@natesass "He stays in the same lane the whole time! Yes in the middle, but that's because they're overtaking other cyclists. not a crime or against the CODE."
But can only be done if safe to do so, Not when another vehicle is entering the lane.

rogerhotuk 1 week ago
You put yourself at an unnecessary risk by cycling too fast in congested areas, and failing to keep leftmost while in lane. I know cyclists have a real hard time, but I don't know why some insist on positioning square in the middle of lanes.
Katrini89 1 week ago
@Katrini89 this junction is located in central London and is pretty much unavoidable if I want to travel to work by bike. The problem with keeping left is that the lanes are very narrow through this section.
The lane simply isn't wide enough to fit a bike and car, never mind a bike and bus.
Taking a primary position here is designed to prevent drivers attempting a close overtake or squeezing you out of the lane (as in this video)
rogerhotuk 1 week ago
I am a bus driver and Iam a not stupid I could report you for this
cnyoung24 1 week ago

@ rogerhotuk "he had his indicator on." A brilliant argument. However, you seem to be forgetting the mirror bit in, 'mirror, signal, manoeuvre.' Time for some more driving lessons?" Really he was pulling in behind you, but YOU did not "look over your shoulder" (i.e mirror) or signal (we would see your arm as you look back to check again) before and as you passed the other cyclists (manoeuvre) so pot kettle black, the bus would have seen you as you should have seen him as you "looked".
Toby01976 1 week ago
@Toby01976 I wasn't changing lanes though. Its really not that difficult to understand
rogerhotuk 1 week ago
What is so funny is watching I do not know if he is changing lane or where he is going his lane discipline and road positioning is that erratic, how was anyone else supposed to read his road actions?? If you drove a car the way he cycles you would be pulled over and tested for alcohol, yet he has the nerve to complain about a professional driver whos only error was assume the he would give way and take a legal and safe position and show care and consideration to the other road users.
Toby01976 1 week ago
@kie7077 Cyclists who have their C P know they should use the gutter and cycle lanes which this guy does not, and are told not hog the road causing other road users to go round them, which he does.
Had this cyclist looked over his shoulder he would have seen the bus indicating and there for should held back and not have been passing other cyclists forcing the bus to take evasive action, putting him and other cyclists at risk, not once but twice.
Toby01976 1 week ago
Toby01976 1 week ago

Cyclists do damage the road and cause pollution simply by holding back other vehicles because like the guy in the clip you do not give room for other road users and use more room than you need. Also you hardly ever signal, go wrong way along one way streets and jump lights causing accidents and then blame the other drivers. I cycle, drive cars and have driven all over Europe in coaches and band buses. I consider my fellow road users and simply put ALL vehicles on the road should pay road tax!
Toby01976 2 weeks ago
LOL you guys are funny. "Get exercise" Well I cycle to work and cycle ten times better than demonstrated in this video as I do not pass red lights, I signal my manoeuvres and do not put myself in a position of danger nor my fellow road users. I have trained both car and bus drivers and have done driver assessments. you not only once put yourself in danger from this bus but twice. The bus has passengers on board and they are his priority and he needed that lane you were badly positioned.

suzukiholdenman 1 week ago
@suzukiholdenman We're supposed to take the whole lane, to cycle between lanes with fast moving traffic would be exceedingly dangerous, We'd prefer to be at the side of the road but that wouldn't lead to the exit we need would it. Grass!!!! is that what you're on.
kie7077 1 week ago
When you cyclists have completed you car theory, hazard perception and practical test. Then go on to the HARDER PCV theory, hazard perception and practical test (where if you brush the curb you fail) then the PCV CPC course which gets renewed every 5 years or you loose your entitlement. And when you have seen the pictures and met the friends of those that have killed cyclists due you the cyclist undercutting the bus or lorry. then you can criticize other road users!

Natesass 2 weeks ago
@Natesass Fine then obey the highway code by not going the wrong way along one way streets, stop at red lights and pay road tax, register your bikes and lets have cycling as part of the DVLA licence also MOT your bikes and have lights.
Toby01976 2 weeks ago
@Toby01976 Ummm, they WERE stopped at the red light, if we should pay road tax, then should pedestrians pay footpath tax? We dont damage the roads and nor do we cause noise and air pollution by the tonne. Should we just tax everyone for every mode of transport because we're using land?! Go get some exercise you pent up extravagant!
Natesass 2 weeks ago

WATCH the video CAREFULLY. You will notice the cyclist DID NOT look over their shoulder if he had he would have seen the bus. NOR DID the cyclist at ANY point of the film signal their proposed manoeuvre therefore NOT letting the bus know they were changing lane. HENCE the cyclist was forced over. ALL RULES OF THE HIGHWAY CODE FOR CYCLISTS
ALSO in the highway code it states .................... THE BUS HAS PRIORITY.
Toby01976 2 weeks ago
@Toby01976 I did not see the bus as the driver was in the offside lane. This lane also goes straight on at the first junction and so the traffic doesn't need to merge into a single lane.
BTW, how can you tell if I was signalling or not? My hands / arms are out of sight from the cameras' field of vision... Oh, I get it, you are just making things up....
rogerhotuk 2 weeks ago
@rogerhotuk Well IF you signalled you would have looked OVER your shoulder not just to the left and when you looked left we would have seen your hand.
Busses USE the left hand lane so he NEEDED to come across as he also needed the up comming bus lane which is on ......... THE left. YOU had NO right being in the middle of the lane as cyclists are supposed to leave enough clearance for other vehicles bigger and more powerful than a bike.
Toby01976 2 weeks ago
@Toby01976 the bus didn't need to change lanes. the driver made a mistake by moving into a lane that was already occupied and failing to see the traffic stopping ahead.

ThemightymacDiesel 3 weeks ago 6
@ThemightymacDiesel
4) I like buses. use them all the time
rogerhotuk 3 weeks ago
@rogerhotuk You ride like a dick, overtaking everyone, riding in the right hand side of the lane, often outside of YOUR designated lane (the cycle lane) and ignoring signage. Try driving a car or bus then you will appreciate that you are being an utter cunt.

@rogerhotuk Thanks, no problem. Coming from an utter cunt such as yourself, I'm glad you found my comment utter bollocks. You'd be used to making that mistake I suppose...
electrogear 2 weeks ago
@ThemightymacDiesel truth be told, parts (1) and (2) of your comment are moot. The Highway Code gives cyclists the same rights on the road as motor vehicles. That's right, IT'S THE LAW. But rogerhotuk is also right, road tax doesn't exist, and cyclists often have insurance of their own.
CycleNH 3 weeks ago
I think I know why... Because you can NOT afford normal vehicle and because of spite you do that to other road users.
supergarnek 3 weeks ago
Classic example which annoys me so much is when I drive in a car behind slow vehicle. I get to the junction and because there are two lanes before the junction which narrow to one just after the junction, it is the ONLY place where I could overtake this slow moving vehicle without causing any danger. And then I get group of bloody cyclists in front of me, which does not allow me to move off quickly enough to overtake slow vehicle. Why can't you see it and wait just 3 yards behind?
supergarnek 3 weeks ago
The bus overtook you and then moved back to his lane. You could have stopped behind him. The fact that you ride a bicycle does not give you a right to expect 'free flow' and a right to ride with a constant speed no matter what circumstances are around. Why do so many cyclists take this imaginary right for granted? Why can't you sometimes wait behind? Why do you always have to squeeze to the front and obstruct others?
supergarnek 3 weeks ago
@supergarnek the bus failed to perform a safe overtake or change of lane. He was barely half-way past before he started to move into the lane I was in.
rogerhotuk 3 weeks ago
@rogerhotuk - I have watched it closely again. It's hard to tell as we don't know what was happening on the right. Camera shows only the image of what was happening in front of you. Bus had to brake earlier to avoid hitting white van in front of him. You did not slow down your speed (as any car would do in the same position where you were) because you would carry on overtaking stationery vehicles. I know this junction very well and to be honest I wouldn't mind if taxpayers money...
supergarnek 3 weeks ago
... was spent on building either some sort of a bridge or tunnel for cyclists, or maybe a way along the Thames or something to avoid this horrible junction. It is dangerous enough for cars alone. If you add heavy rush hour traffic and cyclist who can't keep up with the speed of the cars - then sooner or later you will read about terrible accident there - I do not wish it to anyone though.

nothing wrong with bus driver you lot should shut the fuck up you pay fuck all to use the roads twat

You ahve no road sense whatsoever, so the best thing to do is stay the fuck off it.

it not so much cyclists! well done using bikes and not vehicles that is causing so much problems. it's cyclists who put videos on of people when the cyclist should be stayin out the way! they should have to do a test also to be on the road!

99a3024 1 month ago 22
@99a3024 taking the lane through this section is important as the lane isn't wide enough to accommodate a bike and bus.
rogerhotuk 1 month ago
@rogerhotuk The other cyclists didn't seem to have a problem. Note how they're all as far left in the lane as they can be while you're two thirds of the way to the right. I'm a cyclist myself and I hate cyclists that shame us with this entitled behaviour. I agree with 99a3024.
CptSchmidt 4 weeks ago
@CptSchmidt entitled behaviour? get over yourself. taking a primary position through this junction follows best-practice advice. the other cyclists are taking a risk by riding too far to the left as there are vehicles passing on the nearside
rogerhotuk 4 weeks ago
@rogerhotuk Get over myself? If you can't accept criticism, you shouldn't allow comments. It seems that 486 people, plus the cyclists in your video, agree with me. You're telling me that all the cyclists keeping left, a good ten or more of them, plus the bus driver, were all in the wrong and you hadn't an ounce of wrongdoing yourself? Best practice is sharing the road, like the other cyclists were doing. You stopping to scold forced a cyclist to veer into the other lane, that's not entitlement?
CptSchmidt 3 weeks ago 3
@99a3024 There are 5 lanes there. Two going left and two going forwards and one going right. The bike was in the left of the lains going forwards. What other lain should he have taken? You have a HGV!!!!!!!!!
