No, the way Alex Cox tells it in the DVD commentary, it was story told to him "as truth" by a guy called Swatty in Venice who owned a company called Arrow Mirror and Glass. "Swatty" told Cox that he went to install the mirrors and Wayne came to the door in a dress and was flirting with the Mexican labourers. "Swatty" died later from a brain tumour.

OOOHHH!!! After watching this movie 8 million times, I finally understand Miller's story. I always thought Miller was SPYING on John Wayne, and that he secretly installed two-way mirrors so he could see what Wayne was doing. Now I understand it! Wayne HIRED Miller to install the mirrors, so WAYNE could WATCH HIS BUDDIES FUCK! Oly's response makes sense now too!
(Although that doesn't explain the dress! Maybe it was a Marlon Brando muumuu?)

I first saw this movie at the midnight movies. We rotated every week between Rocky Horror, Pink Floyd, Holy Grail, and Dawn of the Dead. Repo Man was the first non-standard midnight movie they ever showed.
