Fair play putting this video together at age 12, especially digging out a pre-synth New Order tune. Pretty arty video too considering I would have just been filming women with big tits or winding my bro up at that age.
Some one who digs this song at 12. Impressive. I'm 46, and have been a Joy Division fan since 1980. I hope you still feel the same about this music in 20 years.
@FabyoMty I discovered New Order when I was 12 in 1986! I was just thinking how sophisticated me and my little friends music taste were when we were so young compared to the kids I know now. I'm glad the younger people can get into this. New Order has always proven to be timeless!
@lucifurious23 You were a very cool 12 year old too. It's always nice to know young people can discover music like this, even tough you discovered them in 1986, I wasn't even born.
Great song, great band, I love the video, don't understand the haters, life aint all fast cars and hot girls, it just happens, sometimes its sombre, boring, time passing by, just watching and finding beauty in things that surround us. Trust me, that place is not that bad, we are all looking for a way out, I live in East London UK and would love some open space like that. Appreciate it for what it is and was at the time, memories, moments past that will never be the same, look around you sometime
I really appreciated the "student video" approach to this. It captured something of the essence of the ambience from the original Joy Division. This is one of my favorite New Order songs, and I love Bernard singing it. Ian gave it raw passion and I am so sad he is gone, but his artistry remains with us.
PS - the stupid kids posting on here should really develop some hobbies, or at least some manners.
@CVinNYC my sentiments exactly. I probably need to get a hobbie too though. Because Youtube seems to have contributed to at least one third of my upbringing. So the big bad world awaits ........
New Order did a great version of 'Ceremony', but they absolutely sucked at their attempt at 'In a Lonely Place'. Only Ian could sing that song and mean it.
@manicbabyshambles123 YES! i agree. i like theraw feel of the rehersal BUT if it was properly recorded, that would be some pretty powerful shit. I love JD so much. they are my top three
hey guys, im becoming a huuuge fan of new order, and of this genre of music, i was wondering if you guys can suggest any other songs/artists/albums such as this great stuff!! thank you very much for your input, i like music that sounds kinda mellow and i really like the guitar and background instruments such as the ones that are playing in the background. thanks again! :D
@LuiL3wis But ofcourse, Top 3,THE SMITHS!!!, The Cure (oh The Cure...), Depeche Mode (Love the Mode!), Echo and The Bunnymen, Electronic (Band members inlcude Bernard Sumner from New Order/Johny Marr from the Smiths/and Neil Tennent from the Pet Shop Boys, Camouflage, Red Flag, Ultravox, Siouxie and The Banshees, Cause and Effect, Cetu Javu, Seven Red Seven. Check out my channel. I have numerous downloads of similar artists and songs...
Interesting to see Ann Arbor..is PJs still there and dog city? I played in a band at the Flamingo Lounge in Mt Clemens and Bob Seeger used to come see us in 1970 when he was a single act.. stayed over The some burley detroit homestead ..a rental gone to the dogs I guess, house once and tried to go to sleep on the floor while Ted Nugent (before he was famous) pretended to be rubber man at 2 in the morning ..bored the crap out of me
This song is awesome but the original Joy Division version is better, it's just so much scruffier and Ian Curtis has got this really great attitude and voice...
I remember being 10 years old and my sister and her boyfriend listened to this all the time and it was my favorite. Now I'm 16 and this song is still one of my all-time favorites. It is absolutely beautiful.
@BennyOhTool His voice is obviously not as impressive as Ian's, but has a simple, human quality that's uplifting and moving in its own way. Same goes for the songwriting.
