  • Heard this song on the radio in 2004 a month after a girlfriend of three years in highschool broke up with me because we were going to different colleges across the country. Made me tear up. Could never find this song, until years later I heard "That's just the way it is" and noticed a similar voice, and googled it. Even at 28, it still sends the same emotion I felt 10 years ago in the car. Thanks for the memories.

  • I loved a legally blind woman, with a bad leg, with all my heart one time. I figured out how she could use a rifle scope to see and I rubbed her bad leg for hours until she could run again, and then she saw some where to go and ran away.I still miss her and the song almost makes me cry tears, what a talent this band has. I like to hear it when I am sad and miss her.

  • Dear Bruce: STILL Awesome - after all these years !~!

  • Such a sweet yet sad song at the same time...Hornsby has the rare ability of combining the two in a melodic song that touches fans' hearts.

  • This is definitely one of my favorites. I call all of his music "feel good music." I'm calm and I always have my center when I listen to his music, especially this one and "Every Little Kiss." Heard him in concert at the Jazz Festival in 1987. To this day, his music never tires.

    Thank you for such feeling!!!

Ricardo - Sao Paulo - Brazil

  • This song always reminds me of my first girlfriend. Whereever you are Jennifer I still wish you the best.

  • Love this guy! Always loved hearing Bruce play with the Grateful Dead. Working as a stagehand, I had the pleasure of seeing him at a private executive party for BMG Records at the Improve in Tempe, AZ late 90's. Real intimate venue,me at center balcony in a tiedyed t-shirt rockin out, surrounded by all these uptight fancy dressed up folks mingling about. Having played many shows with the Dead, he really seemed to appreciate this Deadheads energy. One of the best gigs I ever did.

  • Haha, mah name is Mandilyn, spelled different, pronounced the same<3

  • it seems like he's concentrating really hard on the solo to make it more technical. when you see him play today he really concentrates more on directing the band. both amazing.

  • The way he plays, its so beautiful. I'm mesmerized....every time

  • this song would be way better without guitar or at least accoustic

  • @superbattleships --- yeah, right, go write, produce and record your own music and then get back to me how that worked for you.

  • @joerider777 dude Im just saying my oppinion damn wtf

  • I got back in to Phx after a friends wedding in Toronto and really didin't want my weekend to end. I saw Bruce was in town palying at the Mesa Amphitheatre. It was sold out but I really wanted to see him so I stood out in front begging for a scalped ticket. I got in and made me way to the front and what an incredible evening. He played everything on his 2 albums and for encores did Leon Russell tunes. Bruce is one of a kind.

  • the best,, stilll the best

  • My Fave song Ever. So true so real. Bruce's songwritining is pure magic. We need more of it in these Taylor Shift days.

  • one of my favorites, still sounds great

  • Bruce Hornsby so equlently captures the American spirit..

  • Better looking of course

  • That's a mandola! Come on, Bruce!

  • I dont knw why, but Bruce Hornsby looks a lot like John Lithgow.

  • This was back when Bruce was good.

  • You can feel his roots in this song, no doubt a Virginia boy!
