  • Okay, in leu of not searching to see if Mr. Quinn bothered to answer you Streetmastaalex, let me do it in his stead. I do not have the standards he has to uphold here. So, unless you live in video game world and are just itching for the proverbial SHTF scenerio I would like you to take a long hard stare at your statement. We do not live in video game world. And you have to mind what you say in the real one. I appoligize to Mr.Quinn on your behalf. Now go back to your movies.

  • Thanks, Mudcat, but trolls aren't worth the worry.

  • Was this the heavy barrel configuration or the light barrel configuration?

  • Comment removed

  • good gun, i'll still take a noveske though

  • Fabrique Nationale Automatic Rifle.

    Jeff

  • had an opportunity to shoot both this and an M1A last week. I found the M1A much more comfortable to shoot.

  • @geGNOME Try R25 or DPMS LR308 with high cap. May just be the best of both worlds for you?

  • I KNEW YOU WERE REAL, SANTA!

  • Can you purchase an aftermarket butt stock with out a pistol grip?

  • I do not know. The Browning BAR buttstock should fit perfectly, but check with FNH on that.

    Jeff

  • @Btourigny24

They just introduced the FNAR Match at shot show 2011. it´s basically the same gun without a pistolgrip.

  • @Btourigny24

You can get it from the factory without the pistol grip

  • Jeff, would you get an M1A/M14 or the FNAR?

  • I prefer the FNAR myself.

    Jeff

  • @Gunblastdotcom Just wondering...why you prefer the FNAR?

  • The FNAR is lighter, more accurate, and easier for most to shoot properly, unless the M1A is modified. Both are good weapons, I just like the design of the FNAR much better.

    Jeff

  • @Gunblastdotcom Actually, not much lighter and the differnce in accuracy would be very nominal to most shooters and to the best shooters we're talking less than 1/2 moa if you have an m1a loaded. It also may have the worst ergo design. It's a cumbersome weapon to shoulder. It is however, like the M-14 a proven battle weapon...I will give you that.

  • I was looking for a medium to long range fun gun and wanted the best bang for my buck. Did some research and baught the Winchester SXAR, which is the same rifle as the FNAR for 700 bucks less.

This is an awesome rifle and shoots sub MOA @ 200 yards easily and everytime. For a semi automatic, thats incredible in this price range.

Its ugly for sure, but dont let the looks discourage you from buying one. I think that once people figure out how awesome they are, the price will jump rapidly. IMHO.

  • Excellent choice.

    Jeff

  • @judgedredd65 Winchester is owned by FNH USA

  • is it FN as in fabrique nationale?

  • FNH, as in Fabrique Nationale Herstal.

  • what can you tell me abou 9,3 x 62 mm cartridges?

  • Excellent cartridge. Very popular in Europe and Africa. Plenty of power for all but the largest of game.

    Jeff

  • Jeff,

I have been debating the cost-benefit of buying either the FNAR or SCAR. I love both rifles but find it hard to justify the cost of the SCAR, if the FNAR is just as capable. What is your take?

    Thanks

  • They both perform the same function, and the target, whether flesh or paper, can't tell the difference.

I apologize for the delay in answering. I have been at Gunsite in Arizona shooting some new Ruger products all week, with no access to email.

    Jeff

  • Hi Jeff - just wondering if the extra pound on the heavier barrell makes much difference in accuracy. Is it worth the extra weight? Thanks.

  • I do not know. I have only fired this one for accuracy.

    Jeff

  • Very nice gun

  • what maxx distance would you predict for that model?

  • That depends upon the skill of the shooter. I have sucessfully fired 308 rifles out past 1100 yards, and I am just an average shooter.

    Jeff

  • its awesome howhe says i think youll like it before he does anything

  • I shoot the guns before we make the videos.

  • Would you (or anyone else) suggest this over the Rock River or DPMS of the same caliber? I hear the RR is preferred, but the guys at the local gun club are a little partial.

I do like how this (FNAR) is lighter, great for those long hikes... but I also hear that its a REAL BITCH to clean, any opinions on that either?

    Thanks.

  • The FNAR is a good rifle, but personally, I prefer the AR system. My DPMS SASS LRT 308 is the most accurate rifle that I have ever fired, of any caliber.

    Jeff

  • Thanks for the feedback and keep the good stuff commin.

  • @Gunblastdotcom how do u compare it to the springfield m1a. and which would you prefer??

  • I greatly prefer the lighter weight of the SCAR. Both are good, but for my uses, the M1A is too heavy.

    Jeff

  • @jar288 The M1A is miles ahead of this piece of crap gun. This gun is heavy as the SOCOM 16 M1A (without rails model) and lacks iron sights. Optics are easy enough to mount though. Another thing that kills me about this gun is the $90 mags that FNH sells for it. Plus the rifle isn't cheap either. Dont waste your time on this gun, just get a M1A or an AR-10 variant. I would recommend the DPMS LR-308 or the Armalite models. both are much cheaper than the M1A or the FNAR.

  • How would one of these stack up against the various and ubiquitous .308/7.62x51 semi-auto rifles out there like the FAL/G3/M14?

  • They are all excellent rifles, as is the AR-10. The FNAR is just another good choice, and more accurate than many of the older design.

    Jeff

  • You have the coolest beard I've ever seen in my life

  • Thanks for your reviews. They've helped me a ton.

  • Thank you brother!

  • jeff you are the man. i've been reading your website recently and i love it. simple, concise, and very well-written. plus your music is awesome. Although your website is full of politics, i love that your reviews are just about the guns, not about anything else (im sort of a middle of the road guy. not republican not democrat, i consider both parties just a bunch of power hungry out of touch a-holes but thats for a different conversation.) anyways i just wanted to share my appreciation.

  • Thanks for the kind words. I tend to agree with you on the politicians. Unless it is concerning guns and gun ownership, I would rather we had no political stuff on our website. There are plenty of political websites. However, I have two partners who do not agree with me, so we have all kinds of crap in our political section. Anyway, read what you want to and ignore the rest. That is what I do.

  • SANTA!!!

  • There is no room in the US for PMC. High paid thugs

  • @nicklizzie

Actually if you ever operated with them you'd realize they're highly professional and competent, which should be unsurprising as they are often the best of the best from already elite organizations such as Rangers, US Army Special Forces, Delta, SEALS, Recon, etc.

  • What might you be replying to my friend?

  • Im very interested in one of these, Are there replacement stocks for it? Preferably something more tactical.

  • I dont think so. But the stock probably works well with the rubber cheek well

  • Thanks

  • tactical........lol

  • Tactical funny to you?

  • yeah, a little bit, it seems like "tactical" is the fad for a lot of poser gun owners right now. I am not saying that you are one of them, but I just think its kinda funny when people want tactical everything, you know what I mean?

Now, if you have a good purpose for having something tactical, than thats cool, go for it.

  • I understand what you mean.

I'm a PMC, and we have to buy our own equipment, And I have been looking for a good Battle rifle. Unfortunately, Tactically considering, The SCAR-H is a great choice, But they are rare, Thus expensive. The 417 is a decent choice too, But yet again Expensive. The FNAR is relatively cheap, I just need something more tactical for the type of work I'm in.

  • sorry, but what does PMC stand for? other than the ammo brand....LOL

  • Private Military Contractor. I was trying not to attract attention, But people jump all over you and start grilling you when you say stuff like "I'm a contractor, Like Blackwater." Then everyone thinks you're faking it. I don't care though, Besides, I don't tell anyone in person except my team, What I do for a living. Attracts unwanted attention. Especially when you live in a blue state like mine.

  • yeah i completely agree with you everybody thorws the word "Tactical" around these days. tactical boots, tactical pants, tactical bacon...tactical everything!. i find that it seems like it is a selling point to alot of companies, they just add the word tactical to it and charge double.

  • lol....really?

  • if anything at all it looks like and m14 with a g&p stock system on it,,

  • My Old FN mags don't fit my bud's new one & new ones spendy. Lots of good surplus 7.62x51 ammo out there. Old Model Bear on cases. over 2 grand including WA tax @7.5%. Very Accurate to 600m even with surplus stuff(4-6.5moa). What the F is a "Hippy"today? The same as they were in the 60's and most today cannot even define what a Hippy was. Been listening to too many bible thumping red necks that live in the Flatlands. Thanks for the Video! KYPD!

  • Its crazy-I just picked up 3 mags for my new sx-ar @ 75.00 each! (same gun built by fn in belgum without the long rail up top and without the side rails)picked up mine for 1200.00 today with heavy barrel vs fn-ar light barrel priced at 1700.00

  • Jeff, dude you're a LEFTY.. I never noticed that before.. :-)

FN hasn't made a bad gun yet, have they..

as for 37nau, just keep the .22 mag in the boot for when you run into him :-)

  • Comment removed

  • FNAR is a accurate , really fast with low recoil ....it is the shit

  • you kidding me? its a beautiful rifle, are you some call of duty guy who only wants assault looking weapons?

  • its the bar action with a pistol grip stock and with the attachment on the botom for the drop out mag

  • How does that look like a BAR at all? If anything it looks kinda like a PSG (I think it's the pistol grip that makes it look like one to me)

  • Comment removed

  • Man oh man do I want one of these babies!

  • Your beard kicks ass, nice guns too keep up the good work.

  • kinda looks like The End on mgs:snake eater

  • How much do these usually run?

  • Good question...I want one.

  • $2000

  • Do you know what the sad thing is MilitantDanny ? Both Boston Mass and New York New York where the building foundation of the Constitutiona especaily Boston Mass which is the birth place of the second admendment and yet both States are anti-gun. The Founding Father I know are rolling in their grave with anger.

  • im sorry but your statistics are wrong there rolling and oozing dead people stinky gas at the same time

  • @Captb55806 Catholic country, same for cali too!

  • Man I can't wait to move to a free state this July. NY is so ridiculous. I grew up in Western Upstate NY where everyone is conservative, but continually getting screwed by the crooks in Albany and elitists in NYC. Gun laws are such a crock of shit there, and completely un-Constitutional.

  • i hear you brother. i'm stuck in schenectady--for now

  • As I type this I'm now sitting in my new home in rural western North Carolina, surrounded by a few new "toys" I couldn't have just one month ago! C'mon down! :)

  • @Streetmastaalex First off, your comment is contradicting, because if the streets are NOT peaceful ( like you suggest by sarcastically using SUPPOSEDLY ) then why would you NOT want a firearm with you for protection? Second of all, the 2nd Amendment isn't about duck hunting, it's about retaining the people's ability to - IF ALL ELSE FAILS - throw out a growing tyrannical government. I seem to recall the Founder's having just done so before writing the Constitution - amazing!

  • @Streetmastaalex Gee whiz, for a "streetmasta", Alex sure sounds like a whiny little bitch. Hey Alex: Buy a gun and stfu! Welcome to the "crazy homicidal redneck club"!

  • @Maat922 buy a gun and be useful to who? The NRA in their efforts to control population by manipulating the undereducated members of society such as yourself into believing that they need a firearm because the 'evil government' is going to break into their house at night and abduct them? HA no thanks

  • @Streetmastaalex That is surely one of the most retarded things I have heard from the anti-gun nazis to date.

  • @Maat922 'anti gun nazis'.. well the nazis happened to love guns... and were right wingers, of course... so that didn't make a whole lot of sense pal. You should probably go back to school instead of arguing on youtube.

  • @Streetmastaalex Nazis happened to love guns...for themselves. The jews were kinda fucked though, weren't they?. You should probably go back to school instead of trolling on youtube.

  • @Maat922 So... your argument is we should all have guns... to be more like the nazis... real intelligent. I see Faux News did a good job shaping your mind into the typical living-in-fear republican

  • @Streetmastaalex Lol what the fuck am I afraid of? I'm armed!

  • @Streetmastaalex he pointed out the fact about the Nazi party liking guns for themselves. Thing is they didnt want anyone else to have them because they wanted little resistance to their military when it took power. An armed person is a safer person than an unarmed person. Its simple fact. If you dont think so, we'll both roll down to the local hood, me with my Sig and you with your anti-gun propaganda, and we'll see who can make it out alive. My money is on me.

  • @Streetmastaalex The Nazis were a socialist party.

  • @ufloetz They were fascists, a right wing belief. Do your research. Hitler used the word 'socialism' as propaganda, so if you're falling for nazi propaganda thats kind of scary.

  • @Streetmastaalex Buddy, I am not falling for anything. They were a socialist party. They were anti-commuinist, anti-capitialist. They were socialist because the country was screwed after WWI being attacked by the Brits and being blamed for the war. I could go on and try to explain other things you cannot grasp.

My grandfather fought in WWI and WWII for Germany, my Grandfathers cousin was in the SS. That is just the way it is, I hate racism. My other Grandfather fought for the U.S.

  • @ufloetz Anti communist? Right that makes sense when communism and socialism are extremely similar to being the same thing. Sorry pal but they were not socialist, they were in fact right wingers, and I urge you to use at least google sometimes

  • @Streetmastaalex I used Wiki when you questioned me, so you can check if you like. A communist wants to own everything and you have no rights. A socialist wants to do everything for you and have social programs.(my definitions) Ya they are pretty much the same. I dont care for either, some sociial programs I dont mind, helps out the poorer people, except it is run by people so you know how that goes.

I can tell without looking at your profile you are likely an American like 99% and republican

  • @ufloetz I am an American and 100% liberal/democrat.

  • @Streetmastaalex LIttle off. I could tell by your attitiude saying that my open thinking is dangerous and somehow that makes me a communist or a beliver of some sort of propoganda, or I am a Nazi, or a communist. When I was simply stating a fact.

Good to see in true american spirt you are brainwashed, and you like many others do not have freedom of thought you tell eveyone you have. And you have the you are either for us or against us idea.

    So who is truly free?

  • @Streetmastaalex

You don't know what happend in New Orleans then?

  • @MilitantDanny Binghamton, NY here, and AMEN THAT. Look into the New Hampshire "Free State Project". I am seriously considering it. Open carry!! :o) If we can't win in our own state, I wouldn't mind moving to another one and help them maintain the rights they haven't yet lost.

  • @Maat922 Yeah man, I grew up west of Rochester in a small town called Albion. Everyone's conservative for the most part, but neutered by the oppressive laws from the previously mentioned parts of the state. Yeah I moved to NC last year, no regrets. Taxes are 10x less (literally), I can own all the guns I previously couldn't (and now do), it's warmer, and there are more jobs available. NH is the only northern state I would consider though concerning gun laws (or lack there-of). Take it easy!

  • how reliable is it? comparable to the m14 or ak47?

  • It was 100 percent reliable.

    Jeff

  • so you can shoot it left handed

    awesome

  • sure is ugly. probably shoots great thought.

  • i know its gross looking

  • I think its beautiful.

  • what's the farthest you guys have shot this rifle - and the accuracy? Thx.

  • whats the moa on it at 100yds... and seeing how you have handled a buch of firearms i am looking for a good all around tactical rifle for wrol (with out rule of law situations) to invest money into b4 the assult rifle ban kicks in again like the politicans wanna do its between a, mini 14 or 30, fnar, kel tec su 16c, ak 47, sig 556, or vz85... any feed back on peoples personal opions would be nice needing something reliable and accurate

  • at a hundered yards its guaranteed for 1 moa but mine shoots half inch groups at 100yds regularly. its qwick and deffinitly a great tactical precision rifle. it is a bit barrel heavy tho an not my first recommendation for an wrol defensive weapon for example clearing your house room by room is not the really this weapons prime use more of a long range deal. ya kno from what you listed i would with out a doubt go with the kel-tec for your listed purpose. let me kno if you find one tho? i cant!

  • killersoundboy, these rifles are legal for civilian sale - IF you state and local laws allow it!

  • Is it a propriatory mag?

  • Yes, it is.

  • its a beauty can civilians get that im in a little business of getting a gun myself

  • Who's that on the guitar?

    sounds like Doyle Dykes

  • So how does it shoot? Could you post another video of the grouping?

  • Just bought this gun tonight! What kind of Leupold scope is that?

  • hey there friend. Hey I have a question for ya. How much did that run ya? I know it's not going to be the same in most places but I'd just like a ball park. Thanks

  • $1350.00 cash price. Credit card price was $1419.99 Seattle area.
