  • Yes, although it is "only" a dream, and although everyone knows that dreams do not come true, nevertheless somehow soon it must come -- the planetary commonwealth of humanity, free of alienation and in harmony with nature. And the child messiah who will bring it about is none other than the child within ourselves, the not-yet-corrupted human spirit.

  • i cry when i hear it! ive grew up loving this song :P i could cry now.

  • ummm i love michael ball

  • That's the staircase and set from The Phantom of the Opera.......... Masquerade scene!

  • i could kick a football between her front teeth

  • 4 people are jealous of his hair

  • Awesome version!!

  • aww he's so young! How cute :)

  • michael ball would come last in a michael ball lookalike competition...i swear he looks nothing like the last time he looked everytime i see him.....

  • splendid voice for both, specially Michael Ball (listen to his rendition of LOVE CHANGES EVERYTHING

  • I ♥ Michael's vibratto

  • Lol, contender for the worst modulation ever?

  • I'll also add that the entire ending makes absolutely no sense in musical context. Nothing beats the original ^^

  • There is a recording of this song. It is from a two-disc package put out by the Save the Children foundation. I'm on vacation and don't have physical access, but I think it's called Save the Children A Broadway Christmas Festive Songs for the Season. It's well worth hunting down for two cd's worth of performances by musical stars and casts. Also includes songs by Michael Crawford, Sarah Brightman, Colm Wilkenson, and Frances Rufelle. Hope this helps!

  • Brava Claire!!!

    Bravo Michael !!!

    Countless Brav-as and -os.....

  • michael ball has a splendid and amazing voice

  • Wow...didn't know Kirk Cameron could sing! :)

  • @LuckyTTCo Umm ... that's not Kirk Cameron, but Michael Ball singing with Claire Moore ... :o)

  • I am very impressed by listiening to this song. Thanks for uploading.

  • This duet is STUNNING! Is this duet available on a CD? If anybody knows, please leave me answer. Thanking you in advance.

  • I dont know if theres a duet of this but michael ball does his own christmas album and i think this is on it... it might say more on his official website but you need a player that supports RAM files to listen :)

  • Thank you for the response and information. Very much appreciated.

  • @rickmyers324

It is on the Save The Children Christmas cd. Amazon sometimes carries it by private sellers.

  • remember clare singing in a school talent show when she was about 13 - sugar me if i remember correctly - don't think she won but her voice certainly developed. 2 other girls with great voices sang in assembly the cross twins - often wondered if they ever made it.

  • this is really good! just one observation, i think this may be the set of phantom! Claire moore was christine and michael the replacement raul for, steve barton! lastly the steps and set just look like the masquerade scene lol!

  • You're absolutely right, on all counts. There's no mistaking that Masquerade staircase, that's for sure!! :o)

  • on the par with the Pogues for best christmas song

  • Magnifico!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • omigosh, i just find this so sad, cos me and me friedn duetted this at 4 christmas assemblies in forn of the whole school, and since then, we've both had down times, with other friends, boys etc, and this song, we were both so unaware of what would be happening now, and its just sad.......lol, makes me sad tbh, i wish we could do this again.:( but i love this song. xxxx

  • claire moore is such a wonderful singer and so is michael

amazing singers both of them !!

  • wow thats kinda amazing:)

  • omg michael ball you are amazing

  • Thanks, I haven't seen this since I was about 9. I love the Save the Children tv special and record :)

  • Isn't Michael perdy though? This was done in '88 when he was 26 and she was 28. Both were classically trianed crooners from England. Neither has aged well, kinda like the rest of us. He ain't perdy no more. She married in '95 and dropped a couple of kids, and is backta singin' now. But WHAT VOICES, huh? I don't like the talkin' part in the middle either, but most versions have it. The Seekers' version doesn't have it. Simon on "Idol" don't like this song. Panned it. But I don't like HIM! 5 stars

  • i think claire aged pretty well. so did michael. They are attractive for their age.

  • @sigmund38zx5 I don't know about Claire Moore, but Michael Ball isn't classical trained. He trained as an actor - not a singer.

  • omgomgomgogmomgogosh!!!

what an amazing pair of voices!

i absolutely love both of them <33

  • 바리톤 성악가인 제가 불러도 아름다울 듯한 노래입니다.

  • And to think he's now playing Edna Turnblad in the London production of "Hairspray." LOL!!!! :o)

  • This is probably my favourite version of this song. Watching it, it dawned on me, particularly around the 2 minute mark, how much Michael Ball looks like David Essex around the eyes.

  • He really, really does!

  • I love it.... best version of this song ever. (though pity about the talking part)

  • @OZBDS The talking part is on the album version of the song as well. It is definitely on Michael Ball's studio recording, not sure about the original song though or if Michael added that himself.

  • So beautiful

  • love it love it, Michael you young fresh faced handsome devil!but get your hands out of your pockets!

  • I love Michael!!!!

  • Me too!

  • All I can say is...this has all the emotional subtlety of the '80s.

  • this is my favorite carol .... and it's quite well interpreted by those two .. so 10nx for posting it :)

  • I love and adore Michaels beauty and tallent but i oh so hatted this version of this song , it was OTT (over the top), finger nails down a chalkboard came to mind !!!!

  • omg hes thin!!!!

  • He looks a bit like Sean Astin when he's thin, doesn't he?

  • I love the talking part. It's so bad, it's good.
