Ok I'm sorry but the lead actor is really handsome(Marcus Mitchell I believe)...lol And he has a good fake accent....lol (I thought he was African forrea)...lol (Where is he, he's a really good actor)!!!
Slavery--the legality of one human OWNING another human as a piece of PROPERTY--is reprehensible to anybody who professes to believe that every human has a soul. The legalization (canonization) of slavery thus makes the idea of the US as a Christian nation into a sham.
now comes the time that we find out about thinge we misunderstood them for political reasons and for the interest of minority against civilisation, in a few years poeple will know that slavery still exisits in a different way, where some countries invade the other countries, and control them by weapons, just because they were born in different areas of the world, where oil exists and they call them terrorist instead of slave
Just finished watching it and I have to say this story was absolutely heartbreaking. This is the part of history we don't learn in school. In public school, we were led to believe that Africans were from illiterate, uneducated societies. This documentary shows that it was not uncommon for the slaves to be literate while their masters were the ones who couldn't read or write. I wish everyone could see this, especially African Americans. You will never look at yourself the same way again.
I was among the first group of people to see this documentary at the Northwestern University in Evanston Illinois on Friday the 9th of Sept. 2007. Before the show,
We were entertained by Alpha Diallo the Price of Fouta and his band. After the show we met some of the actors we then had an open discussion about Fouta Djalon and Prince Abraham's unfortunate story.
This movie looks great! It's a really important story to tell and I'm excited about Mos Def being part of this production. Dr. Alford's book is an inspiration!

Hello, this was a nice trailer thanx for sharing:)
It's also uplifting to hear that the whole time during this trail he remained steadfast and didn't give up faith, it's a reminder to us all.
Slavery is just as bad wether it happens to a prince or a peasant.

This should serve as a testimony that the religous heritage of the African American includes more than just Vodoo & Christianity.
