There's a You tube video of the Swingle Singers performing this, also Rondo Alla Turk. These are the old French SS. The newer group is amazing, but not as well known. the old Philips albums from the '60s featured Ward Swingle himself directing and even singing. They did use traps and a bass back then.

A "real" ignorant "Argentinian", I guess? "Libertango" is a piece of music of Astor Piazzolla (from 1973), who is one of the most famous Argentinian composers, and who invented the new style of music called "Tango Nuevo" out of the traditional "Tango Argentino".

@kapriole I never say this guys made a good job and its a nice song but real tango it's not this, its not only a good piece nice to your ears, the words and the sense of 'sadness' of the rithm are an essetial part, and for me pizzola is good but too much comercial, try listening Edmundo Rivero

@Cosamaru I understand your point. And I watched the video again with that in mind. And the girls are expressive and yummy, and the guys are, well, guys. But I still don’t get that ‘connection’ visually that art well done is supposed to make. Maybe a solution here would be some equally awesomely talented Tango dance ensemble doing that part of it, with the Swingle Singers sound behind them. Maybe then?

They probably wanted to do it themselves for various practical reasons, as well as maybe they just wanted to show off their "acting" chops. But it's to be expected that it wont quite click for everyone I suppose. Either way, as you agree, the music is gorgeous.

I have to say that I don't care about the accompanying theatrics. I'm a 110% lover of the Swingle Singers's music. Truly, it's the best there is. And I believe that it's now better than ever. Can't say enough. But.... don't need the makeup and the posing et al. Just hearing and seeing the art being done so exquisitely well by the best is all I could ever want. Just my opinion.... respectfully.

@tennisnut0095 I can definitely see why you feel that way, but I think the reason why they chose to do this is that Tango music, and the dancing that goes with it is often used tell stories, and those stories are often steamy romance/treachery/drama stories. I doubt they'd do anything even remotely like this if the music was from a different genre.
