I started where you are in the 70s. I could see there was a problem.

When I began to see the context, such as who was speaking and to whom and when I could no longer accept historicism,

I came to believe the all of the NT was written prior to the destruction of Israel.

I accepted the thought that Rev. was addressed to and sent to first century Churches.

Plus Jesus spoke of people seeing both him again and Daniels desolation, all before they died .

I subscribe to Historicism. All our Protestant founding Fathers believed in this hermenuetic.
