  • when i train with my bag my knuckles keep bruising after 3 days and i cant punch untill they get better my hands are wraped aswell as having gloves on how do i fix this?

  • Good job explaining the reasons of the targets on the heavy bag. Have you seen the Boxing Box ? What your opinion on this as a training tool?

  • My gym has that same bag. Its soft up to and has hard spots lower down. I actually really like training with it.

  • It looks like this guy has never been in a real boxfight...

    his technique looks like bullshit...

    sry man..

next time put ur shit in like 1 mins.

all u said is, u trap with straight right and go for left hook... u can do this faster...

btw. ur hitting wrong place with your left...

to hit liver u must hit under the ripcage...

    keep up training!

  • Brotha-man, that was a freaken awesome tutorial! I've been shopping around for a heavy bag and wanted to add it to my workout routine. Your video certainly gives me a way to start off on the right track. Thanks for your time.

  • Very Helpfull! thank you!

  • how much time I have to beat the bag at approximately?

  • haha i got the same bag and fuck my hands up all the time. Great video.

  • Really nice of you spending your time... giving out tips and trix! =D Keep making videos because there really interesting

    Greetings From Sweden

  • are those training gloves he's wearing a good substitute for hand-wraps

  • @TheMrpalid in my opinion no. i prefer wraps. but the gel wraps are convenient to use for a light workout and save alot of time

  • Actually, i think thats a good idea, and i don't think he drew on the bag, he placed tape on it.

  • i dont put those spots on bag lol i just picture the same spots in my mind so when i punch its like its really gon be hittin the enemy

  • those spots pinpoint accuracy, pinpoint the diamond between someones chest and abs, or the nose, i think they help.

  • yeah ,same here .haha im not drawing on no heavybag .

  • I Have A Hundred Pound Bag Like That And It Is Hard. I Kick It To Harden My Shins For Muay Thai

  • i have the same bag but smaller in same color. and same golves same color

  • great tips thanx for vid!

  • those everlast bags are very hard on the bottom

  • There is now set rule on how often one should incorporate weight training but on an average 3 times per week is good, Mon, Wed, Fri, etc

  • how often do boxers lift wieghts as part of their training?

  • However, I really do like this guy's style... focusing on the intelligent side of boxing. Too many people JUST work on "hit harder." A good fight is all about setting up traps.

You could further extend your trap by making it 3 parts... a jab toward the SP right before your fake to the head would make the fake even more realistic. And also hide the weight shift.

  • It's a good idea for boxing... but I really hate boxing's idea of defense. "I don't want to get hit in the face, so I'll let you punch me in the arms" works if the person has gloves.. But with no gloves, getting punched in the arms will stack up REAL quick and give the attacker more and more of an advantage. Why do boxers so rarely learn to block punches properly?

  • the tapw realy helps with the accuracy nice job dude

  • good job man!!!

  • this guy knows how to teach , and he has very cool ideas...

  • how many feet is this Bag

  • Weights are great and can help in any sport as long as you lift intelligently and according to the sport you are participating in. For boxing I suggest very light weights and high reps in the range of 30 to 40 reps per set

  • What is your take on lifting weights while training for boxing? Or do you suggest one to simply run, pushups and situps doing mainly your own bodyweight?

  • i have the same gloves, they riped in like half an hour

  • yea same here, but the i have the bag its really good

  • you have done your "job" very well. Excellent!

  • i think i need a new bag or something because i knock it off the chains when i hit it hard with hooks :( or i should tape the chains to the bag what do you think?

  • i just bought a new punch bag and i nearly broke my fumb on it

  • thanks man this is good stuff and it help me.

  • the centurys bob dummy is 10 times better than a heavy bag,..youll never go back to a bag again.

  • some really good tips dude

    cheers!!

  • can anyone help me out? iv just started doing a bit of training at home, iv been doing heavy bag training with mitts but i find when i am using mitts i am not really learning to land my 2 main knuckles on targets when doing hooks. I am now using knuckle wraps on the bag now instead of mitts, the thing is do i still need to wrap my knuckles before i put on the knuckle wrap golves on?

  • Do you throw the hooks palms-in or palms-down? If its palms down, just try turning the punch over by lifting your elbow a little higher than your hand is.

  • anyone know whats the best 70lb heavy bag there is cause theres the nevatear everlast but its made out of vinyl

  • can u tell me why some people wrapp duck tape around the middle of the heavybag?

  • because the middle of the bag is the most targeted areo, and it gets worn or tears there first so the tape is to keep the tear from spreading

  • you cab bob and weave to stall for time until the targets are in range again, you could also pop a few jabs to adjust the bag for your next strike, also circling to position yourself for the next shots

  • so i setup targets via the tape ont he bags but what i notice is when i give it a good strike the bag rotates, i just have it in my garage hanging off a deck hook. So is the idea you chase the target around? like after a punch lets say the bag flies to the right, is it correct to move yourself to the right in an attempt to keep face to face with teh opponent?

thanks man! and real great stuff !

  • very good video thank you

  • thanks for the tips! your of the farkin chain!

  • Respect..appreciate the wisdom.

  • great tips!! thanks dude!! you are good!

  • thx...you've changed my way of training, thx a lot!!!

  • Thanks a ton for this! This is going to take my bag training to a whole different level. I appreciate actually explaining tips rather than just hitting the bag and having us figure it out. On my way to pick up some tape!

  • hey pudsy, whats your email add, can you really hook me up to waste this dude, i need to avenge my brother, this turd beat him up

  • Bwahaha, look at this keyboard coward trying to challenge Grim to a match. Loser....

  • Excellent video.

  • Great video, definitely helped me work out some ideas *thumbs up*

  • how heavy is that bag??

  • 125lbs. Try listening.

  • thanx for the tips been boxing with my bag for years your help is very very usefull keep the good work greetings from south america Peru

  • at 6:20 you're saying to keep your straight right pushing his gloves to pressure him... During that whole time your liver is exposed like hell so your opponent can just duck and left hook you easily. Also when you're getting a straight right to the head and you're "smart", you just duck a bit more instead of standing up and putting your hands up -.-

  • u can drop your elbow for your liver and use a right over cross

  • u can drop your elbow for your liver and use a right over cross

  • good advice thanks

  • i dont realy box but im trying to get in it and get in better shape i weigh 175 what would be a good bag weight to start with . answers would be highly appriciated

  • start with a bag lower then 100 pounds if u want to burn the weight, for power use 100pounds bag or higher. starting at 100 for first times might hurt ur wrists.

  • thank you so match.

  • this guy lokk realy badass hope il never face a guy like that

  • Chiken, I jsut want to conquor people and their souls, But you my friend just want to fall flat on your face without giving one blow.

  • Try conquering spelling and grammar before you start with the souls...

  • haahahahaaha... good one. brains b4 brawn always.

  • though i must admit.. this guy obviously has as much control over the pscychological part as well as the physical aspects of fighting. deadly combination.

  • I was just talking about william6198640.

  • The lower part of those Everlast bags are hard, maybe not just everlast but other manufacturers as well. Takes a while to get used to hitting the lower part.

  • Superb!!!!!

  • Good idea, man. I'll go and try this

  • bro u shld knock someone out then t bag them

  • Since I live in the mountains, i don't have access to a gym, so i appreciate your tips considerably to use on my bag in my garage. The whole target area markers are brilliant. Take care mate and keep up the videos.

  • Great video. Been hitting the bag for some time now. Have an almost Zen understanding that the practice of boxing is to never have to use those skills..anyway,great articulation and pace work. Very inspiring..

  • damn i wanna thanx u 4 daq video especially wat u said bout 90% of boxin iz in ur brain datz true u should make more videos iight gt back @ me if u can

  • thats brilliant man thanks a million

  • Great! Awesome! Exellent! Perfect!

  • its gary colemans biological father. oh my god. where have you been all his life. hahaha jk man do your thing

  • Not bad for information. But talk is cheap, in other words you can try to hit those targets all day. Without proper technique and form you going nowhere. Knowledge is useless until you can apply it correctly. Demostrate technique, hand positioning, form and so on.

  • u talk to much show more talk less pleasss dammmmmm

  • Boxing is more than just hitting the damn bag. its a thinking game. you may have all the punches for your opponent, but if he outthinks your ass, you will kiss the canvas. pay attention, quit whining, you can use it to your advantage.

  • exellent

  • MORE VIDS FROM YA. PLEASE.

  • zzzzzZzZZzzzzZZzz

  • one of my coachs told me the same thing

  • well i think u'r a good coach, man. nice boxing techniques. thanks for these tips.

  • awesome video... Thanks

  • try boxing without a body and see what will happen, i believe, you must be balanced in both attributes of mind and body, can't do good with out the other.

  • Sweet video, I feel sorry for anybody that piss you off!

  • That old picture that is first shown before the video starts, isn't that Sam Langford?

  • Yep thats Sam Langford

  • the money shot! yeahh! again, very useful, thanks mate

  • say how heavy is dat punching bag and uhh is it straight if i used sand fo my bag

  • THANK FOR THE TIPS

  • I like the target idea it makes a lot of sense, thanks

and ooh man do i know bout hard spots, im usin an older canvas bag thats like hittin someone in, well i have no idea where but its hard haha, good tips.

  • Man never thought about putting targets on my bag. pretty good idea. Actually im gonna do it right now

  • good video, i'm 30 years in the fight game and have to say you give excellent advice to beginners in your responses. still not in love with your videos but if you got one done professionally i've no doubt you'd sell a million, keep it up bro.

  • Hey great video. One question. How many days out of the week should one hit the bag, and for how long in a heavy bag session. Thank you

  • beginner: every other day 4 to 5 rounds

Average: Mon thru Fri 8 to 10 rounds

but never limit yourself to numbers numbers, just do it till the body lets you know when to stop

  • hey i recently got a bag, accually i got it up today,i was hitting it around and i get this sharp tense stiffness in ym right wrist,is this because it is not used to it yet or do i have problems? lol

  • This is new to your hands joints and tendons, it's quite normal in time your hands and wrists will adjust, in the mean time take it easy and dont hit the bag so hard

  • What is the time limit that I should allot while hitting the bag and how do I build up the stamina to go past five minutes on the bag?

  • Roadwork is key.

  • I train in muay thai and I have problem defending my self when they close the gap and start throwing short punches. Is there a way to get out of that position or defend those punches? No one really teach me how to box. Please if you would be kind enought to advise me. Thank you.

  • From what you have described I will assume you are tall? or taller than them? if this is the caser and you have issues when the combat is close, then you must use your attributes and stay on the outside, keep them at bay with the longer reach of yours, when you sense they are getting close, 1. back away with guards up, 2. hold, clench, I'll wait for your response

  • I'm not tall. Just taller than my sparring partner, he is same weight but shorter and stocky. I'm 150lb and stand 5'5. I notice that before he close the distance I land more kick than punch on him. He is an amature boxer but cross train to MT. OK, I know this is gonna sound stupid but I have a question about when u block with guard up do u close your eye? cause I close my eye and can't see his next move. Any exercise to get rid of that habit?

  • Thats not good! that indicates that your confidence in your guards are not that great, hence the closing of the eyes "a natural reflex" that occurs automatically when the brain anticipates an object in going to strike the eye, get a friend and some head gear, have the friend punch you while you are in your guard, keep in mind the punches are not too hard, just enough to get you used to it and you will relax and keep the eyes open

  • Ok. I will Do that. Thanks for the adivse.

  • yea nice man i agree with all other comments helpful pointers and they work. your right about ppl not always putting there guard up all the time,i didnt

  • hey thanx for the helpful tips, your right about everything you said. thanx again hopeing to see more videos

  • you are welcomed miamichico7 I'm working on some more tutorial vids right now

  • kk thanks

  • Dosent the tape just come off? it does with me its annoying

  • clean the area on the bag first with windex then apply the tape

  • ha ha lol i'm going fuck you up? nice.

  • "i'm trying to fuck you up.." good tips man. can't wait to see more vids.

  • Nice information about the targets for heavy bag. I would like to make a request. On your next video installment, could you provide us a helpful insight about weight shifting and weight shifting traning? I would appreciate it if you do so. Thanks for the informative videos.

  • Great video...I'm sure it'll help more than one person. Thanks alot.

  • This and your other Punching bag tips video has changed the way I use my bag. As soon as my knuckles heal up i'll add some tape and start putting a guard up. Thanks a bunch for the pointers.

  • 2 more questions:

    3. i need to work on speed. any chance you'll post a speed drill on the heavy bag soon?

    4. i'm supposed to start doing some light sparring this week. any tips?

  • As a matter of fact I am gathering informations right now, and doing the math on my new project, due to all your great responses to my videos, I have decided to do a whole series oh the most asked question I am presented with, the question of speed and how to obtain it, please stay tuned for my first installment video soon, I will show you all how to tap into our speeds, I will cover the facts myths and all other aspects of "Speed"

  • hey there,

thanks for the tips. i've been boxing here in south korea for 3 months now, and have made decent progress. i got a few questions, if you've got the time to answer:

    1. how much of a difference do those gelwraps make? they're a bit pricer here than in the states..

    2. i'm having problems with my left hook. every time i go in for a hard shot, i fuck up my wrist or jam my pinky.advice?

  • i just wale on my bag but what you say is very true, you gotta use you bag as a tool. thank you for teaching me a thing a two.

  • nults and bolts 5000 lyk u try t fight dis guy ed outbox u in 10 secs is coaching is mint n e knows alot more thn u

  • I use the same style of everlast bag,and what you said about the bag being very hard is so true.Very good information in this video.

  • Good vid bud thanks, you are very clear in what you are saying

  • Nice. I just started boxing like a week ago (only bag work since I'm not leaning on anything else). I was always targeting certain areas of the bag (only 2 actually), but this really helped me a lot. Maybe now I can advance to the next newbie stage. Thanks again. Respect from NYC.

  • nutsandbolts5000 is an idiot and an ass.

  • Also when u throw a L Hook to da body always have your other hand at the side of your face to block his hook to da head and come back with a jab. Always end your combo with the left hand! Ur body looks like it is very tight, you should cut out the weight lifting if you want 2 b a boxer.

  • look dog I appreciate the advice but I will have to pass, every body is a expert, but you are no expert when it comes to me, its peeps like you that screw up boxers because you teach the same old crap to all,

instead of teaching based upon the individual and their abilities. like I said thanks though

  • LOL. Never had anyone tell me that before in the 25+yrs. It's all good. Good luck, kid.

  • Well sorry to hear that, but some trainers train o according to what the believe, without regard to the fighter and their abilities,

you cant train all fighters the same way, not everyone throws a punch a certain way, not everyone steps a certain way,

fighters must be individualized and then trained according to their abilities and or lack of

this way you have someone doing what they are capable of and not trying to do something they are not and getting clocked

  • Man... Such a long time to explain such a simple "idea". First most decent boxers will never just put their hands up like that. You are supposed to actually block the #2 with your right hand or just move your head or step back. If you really want to land that punch you should fake the 3 in a 1,2,3 combo to a L hook to the body.

  • yeah yeah you do your thing and I'll do mine, what you fail to understand or it is just beyond you? is that every one is different, what works for you might just not work for me, thanks for the comment
