I agree, people have really forgot that just because a bass singer can't get way down like J.D they arn't very good. Anybody who can sing with a rich and clear tone, I am a fan of them,
@ejayrichard I'm not saying he wasn't good, he was. but he isn't the "best" IMO. For tone and control there was George Younce, London Parris, Tim Riley definitely.
Thanks so much for posting this. Rex Nelon will forever be my favorite bass singer. I'm 57 years old, and I remember "way back when" my folks would take me to hear the LeFevres and Rex would do this, which sort of became his signature song. The crowd would go wild and simply would not let them off the stage. Thanks for a great song by a great bass singer. Mike

But too many have forgotten the old school bass singing ,they think just because a bass can hit super low notes that their the best!
But seeing how Rex Nelon had a deep vibrotic voice , set him aside a distinguished and one of a kind bass.
