i got my phone a while ago, and i loved it for the first couple months.without the data plan the spot is not real. about three months into the phone, since i couldn't get the data plan, i had to get this stupid nationwide block that made it so i couldn't send receive picture and video messages. i hated everything but two two features. the camera and the wi-fi . DON'T GET THIS PHONE IT IS A PIECE OF CRAP!!!!

I understand ur situation. They'r both similar in so many ways that it's almost impossible 2 choose ONE. But I ended up w/the Kin 2. I like it but lately it's been having some problems playing videos on the internet. and it does NOT have games. or an app store. BUT zune is like another Itunes so it's pretty cool

I had this phone for a week.. these are my opinions... Good: organizes text messages has wi-fi (no cost at all) good camera with flash/video Bad: can't use the touch screen to txt =/ computer might not recognize it when u plug it in keys are to small no SD card slot when ever u had a txt message or add a contact u had to use the key board to put information saving contacts were to much of a hastle... it was to confusing to confusing for me... I exchanged it for an (enV touch)

This is a useless Windows phone. I got mine 4 days ago from Verizon. Reason to get this is same as other think "NO DATA REQUIRED BUT STILL HAVE WIFI". This phone has poorest web browser, slow page rendering, poor text, no flash, poor email client, non functional silly keyboard, really bad user interface (funny icons all around the screen). Long story short. DON'T WASTE YOUR MONEY ON THIS DUMB PHONE.

I got mine today and I LOVE it. I didn't want anything that required a data plan because i can't afford it. Plus I don't really care, I just want to have a phone that makes calls and looks cute. The fact that it has wifi was def a nice surprise though. I actually have a zune too so I need to figure out how to get it onto my phone. I love the way the messages are organized, I love the 8 mp camera. I just LOVE it!

PLEASE KNOW THIS ABOUT THE KIN: I bought the kin 2 as a feature phone about a month ago. I loved it. I had so many high-end features that no other features phones have. BUT it lacked something called EMS, that's Enhanced Messaging service. Basically, you can't get texts of 160+ characters from other people with verizon. You can send any length, and you can text other carriers fine, but you can't receive 160+ from verizon. No message even comes through at all. PLEASE KNOW THIS.

It's great when two phones have it, because instead of getting 4 messages, you just get 1 long message, but if one of those phones doesn't have it (like the KIN) the whole thing just goes to hell. Cool phone otherwise, but that one problem ruined it for me. I'd see people and they's say "Why'd you ignore me last night?" and I'd be like "Dafuq?".

Do not get a kin! The main network that runs kin will be closing on january 31. If you have a kin it will no longer work after january 31 verizon will replace with a 3g phone for you.

@andrewhutchens7 You can just connect the included transfer cable to your computer to get photos off. I will say the camera is kind of finicky, and is a little tricky to get a focused shot on, but the video really seems outstanding.

I just got the new version of the Kin Two today, and I gotta say, this a fantastic phone for those of us with no need for ridiculously expensive data plans. The wifi works great without a data plan, and overall, the phone is really impressing me. It seems like the only reason it got terrible reviews was the boneheaded decision to require a data plan. JUST TO BE CLEAR: I just talked to verizon, and they assured me that you don't need a data plan for this phone. :D

@candywrapp The loop and major social networking features were taken out of the the KIN Onem and Twom, so the loop isn't there. The only other feature I can think of that would automatically use data would be email, and you can set that to manually sync. The browser doesn't have an option to only work on wifi, so you just have to be careful to only use it when on wifi You could also ask Verizon to block data to your phone, but that has the unfortunate side effect of disabling picture messaging.

@metrokick911 There are several Kin OneM / TwoM reviews available. It is exactly the same as the original models, but without the "Loop", "Spot", and cloud storage. No data plan is required, because it is sold as a feature phone not a smartphone. Lots of people (myself included) have bought it and placed a data service block to avoid any data charges. Internet and email are freely available anywhere there's a Wi-Fi connection, with no data charges on your Verizon bill.
