Tritton AX720 Review - Does it Improve Modern Warfare 2?

The ax720 is a great headset. the sound quality was great. but i had to see how much better the Tritton AXPRO was, and they are a lot nicer than the ax720. The price difference for the AXPRO is worth the price. (4 speakers in each ear) Front, Center, Rear and Sub-woofer. You can control the volume of each channel separately as well as the sound/time delay front/rear. If you are considering the AX720, and can afford the more expensive AXPRO, it is worth every penny. AXPRP is full 5.1.

@cspek You should be able to. I have an Onkyo receiver too and it works fine. The thing is, I have my Trittons hooked directly up to the PS3 but I switch back and forth between the headset and the speakers I have set up for when I record gameplay.

In BadCo.2 I heard a generator that I didnt even know made sound.... But again maybe I just have to get use to the difference of sound in front of me and behind me =/

I only play in headphones now, it's crazy hearing ninjas breathing and hearing people switch weapons, call in uav, or get on and off laptops. Also makes booster hunting easy as shit! . It really improves your gameplay, or at least it did mine.

@iimurrman I found the XBox community to be very childish and rude (in my experience). The PS3 onliners seem to be more mature. I cant stand getting online and hearing 12 year olds (or those who act 12) chirping about who's "gay" or who's "shagging who's Mom". It gets boring really quick.

BTW, you do get used to the weight of the 720's after awhile.

There have been several times where I've spun around last minute to kill someone who thought they were sneaking up on me. It's a very cool feeling to have that ability.

@awoo0 Well, the only advice I can really offer is that you get what you pay for. I looked at the 180s and they seemed rather cheaply made. The 720s are very sturdy and I recently learned they released a "Black Ops" coloured set of AX720s which look amazing.

I have a ridiculously skinny little pencil neck and the weight of these are fine to me. These are actually really light and lose. I can easily game for 3 hours without any discomfort with these. If you ever have the chance though, try on an aviation headset, those will KILL your head with discomfort.

@xGAMINGFREAKx No I dont think so because the headset hooks up directly to your console and therefore gets the resident digital signal from it, without having to depend on your stereo or TV. As long as the console supports 5.1 (360 or PS3), you're going to get full surround.

@ProStreetz1 Try adjusting the game volume on the headset. the receiver automatically selects the signal based on the settings you select on your 360.

@GENTLYxGOAT It's automatic. You don't have to "turn the receiver on" to anything unless you want to toggle between Music or Movie (Game) mode. If you have it set up properly, it selects the surround mode automatically based on your settings. As far as it being true 5.1 surround, it isn't. the AXPro headset is the one with true 5.1. The AX720s are simulated Dolby Digital 5.1. Do your research before formulating a sarcastic opinion or you run the risk of looking like a complete fucknugget.

@ProStreetz1 It all depends on what you select in the settings on your PS3. Go to Sound settings and choose Optical. You MUST disable the DTS box (not sure why, but that's what the manual says) and check all others. Play around with the Voice and Game volume settings on the unit attached to the cord from your headset. You should be able to find a suitable setting for you to hear all the ambient sounds, including people sneaking up on you with Ninja Pro.

The only thing I don't like about these is that I broke it the first week cause I took out the mouthpeice wrong and sometimes it randomly cuts out and I have to reset it, but no that bad.
