DO NOT USE IT. I bought the henna and followed the instructions to the word. The stuff turned my hair GREEN. I'm not even kidding. It was a nightmare. I had to go to a professional colorist, who told me she couldn't remove it, only use a darker color to cover it up. DO NOT get it.
The henna from Lush is mostly coco butter, so it acts as an actual hair treatment. :) It's a really nice product. But again, if you prefer another company's product, that's fine, too.
If you go to the Lush online forums, there are suggestions to enhance the colour. Want more red? Use red wine instead of water. Want deeper tones? Use coffee! :D And so on and so forth.
VICTORIALYKEROCKS, No.. it's not bad for your hair providing that you are using BAQ henna only. Google the benefits of "Pure henna vs. commerical dyes"? That's what I've been doing for days now. I wish I would have researched this sooner.
It's probably the acidity of the lemon in it, try doing mostly lemon but dilute it with a water or brewed tea if you like. Also add oil to the henna paste, i add olive but sunflower also works well, be generous, or you could add alma oil or powered if you can find it. I found that doing this makes a huge different as the lemon can be a bit harsh on the hair. Hope this helps.
using some still photos from your camera and putting them in the video are a better way to show the color. Not that I ever get the chance to do so lol.
i tried the BAQ & the LUSH caca noir mama henna/indigo and i luved my results...i could do either or because they both worked great for me, LUSH is just quicker, you can use as soon as it's mixed without waiting overnight for the dyes to release like the BAQ henna.
Do you like the Lush bar more than traditional henna powder? Is the color better, worse, or the same as traditional henna? I know it would be more convient to store around the house in bar form.
I have used both traditional henna powder is far better, but make sure you get a good brand like jamila you can get in on the net. it's more value for money too.
I just want to clarify for some of the posters and readers here that lush hennas are NOT compound hennas. Compound hennas contain chemical-dyes that dye your hair a colour. All lush does to achieve its different 'colours' in it's line (namely rouge which is red, brun (brown), marron (chestnut) and noir (blck)) is combine varying amounts of indigo (which is also derived from a plant..just like henna)and then form it into the block. The remaining ingredients are essential oils and cocoa butter.
The lush henna isn't just made for color, more for colour and volume although on some hair th colour turns out stronger ( usually the more damaged the hair, the stronger the color), and isn't bad for your hair what so ever. i had mine done on a training day for lush and there was very little effect in colour change, but the condition of my hair improved immensely.
While henna is used for its dye and conditioning, compound hennas are always labeled as offering a specific color, but the quality of the henna in them is always poor.
And if hair is too damaged, you will end up with less color, not more. That's why protein filler is necessary for some.
I wouldn't trust lush or any other compound henna. I only trust BAQ like Jamila and Yemen.
once henna fades, will it leave your hair grey and dull like bleach or some other hair dye products? My natural hair color is black, but I bleached my hair over 2 years ago, and I've dyed it black twice afterwards, the ends are now light brown. I want to know if it'll cover that and wont ruin my newborn hair
I have used cacas before, in fact I have one upstairs wating to be used.
i think the best thing about this product is the shine. My hair has never ever been in such good shape.
it is dyed with chemical too, and henna has brought it back to an amazing standard. i got an amazing reddy orangy colour from mine, but i left it on for just over 5 hours. the longer you leave it the better. there is no time limit. seriously , the sine lasted about 6 weeks. amazing.
I've died my hair with caca noir from Lush, kept it in for 3 hrs as recommended in the shop; can't see any difference with my color before
I have heaps of grays and they are still there, not bright red as they told me it would get on grays and my dark brown hair doesn't got a nice indigo color either
Although I am very happily using the shampoos and deodorant, I am very disappointed in this product from Lush now I have to go back to the synthetic shit again to cover the grays
try it again. i use mine for over 5 hours. and i piled it on top of my head. it covered every sinlgle strand. messy pain in the arse though. lol
i went to a foo fighters gig the next day and , because i was jumping around getting all hot and stuff, orange ended up all over my tshirt and down my neck. maybe i didnt wash it out enough =S. lol
You'll never get all henna off your hair in the first washing, but after a few days, when you wash it again, all will be gone, and the color shouldn't look like it's bleeding anymore.
Don't use compound henna. Believe me. It's poor quality powdered henna with oxidizers to make you think you're getting a vibrant color after the initial washing. And it has other dodgy powders to simply make the henna look more appealing to the eye. All these extra chemicals are unnecessary and some will react very badly to chemical hair dye, either giving you green or blue hair, or completely melting your hair. If you want good henna, look for BAQ (body art quality) henna online.
Henna is not bad for your hair but the best quality is body art quality henna powder. You can use chemicals before or after using this quality of henna because it is 100% pure and safe. You usually find this quality only with online suppliers.
I have been told in the past that the term 'perfume' used on their products does not actually refer to specifically a perfume, more a mixture of ingredients which are kept as a secret to avoid the products being copied, or something to that effect.

It only goes red if you wrap your hair in clingfilm. It says so on their site.
