Good job Arindam. However, the social issues that you spoken of here apply to any metropilitan city in India, not just Kolkata. Every Indian city has undergone change and it's natural for Kolkata as well to keep up with it.

when people are spending more on food, consumer goods, coffee shop.. it is giving employment to so many.. there is no use of just saving money for putting it into banks.. but if that money is circulated back into the economy.. it will help providing employment opportunities to so many people including those who are forced to spend their nights on footpath due to unemployment. The more the calcuttans learn to spend, better it will be for the city and its people.
