I remember when I used to see a therapist (through no real decision of my own) and she told me I have a "dark soul"--that is, I include a lot of dark irony and pessimistic elements into anything I write. She said that dark souls have often made some of the most beautiful art--this is so true. Look at Nox Arcana, classical music, writers like Robert Frost, hell, even Gothic architecture; they're all beautiful.

She was just stating her personal observation based on my writing, which was admittedly grim and darkly ironic. I wasn't offended, nor do I think she was out of line. It was an off the record thing anyway. Oh, technicality--therapists don't prescribe treatment based on behavior observations; that's a psychiatrist.
