@MrJST94 - I dont know for sure BUT I would have thought full ins were not affected by what happened to Elena....mainly because she injured herself performing a full twisting Thomas....not a full in double back.
Wow that tumbling was AMAZING!!! The choreography was...interesting. I personally think they got the medals reversed in this event final, I think Natalia and her should have taken gold because of the extreme difficulty in their routines and Nadia and Nellie should have taken bronze. Nothing against Nadia's routine, it was lovely, very clean but it didn't have this much difficulty.
@gymnasticsloverxoxo Maria Filatova and Yelena Davydova had more difficult and better routines than Nadia, Nellie Kim, Natalia Shaposhnikova and Maxi...but I guess the line-up and compulsories kept them out.
im young.. i was born in 1980. Looking at the archives of the women's floor exercise finals. I never knew that their was really good choreography. This one particular is so reminiscent of broadway. I like it. I wish today's floor exercises were more like this.!
Do you know why Davidova wasn't in the finals? I don't like her much, not one of my favorites, but I know that routine and it was a great one. Aside from this, I think even Maxi was better then Kim on floor at this event. Not to mention Shaposh.
Due to the two-per-country rule in event finals-in this case Nelli Kim and Natalia Shaposhnikova of the Soviet Union placed above their teammate Yelena Davidova in the overall FX scores (combined compulosory and optional team scores).
Amazing tumbling for that period of time!!

The most difficult routine in the final....She should have tied for gold. She was also the only one who scored 9.95 twice (team optionals and AA).

I thought that Full ins where banned at the 1980 Olympics, beacause of Mukina.
and I did not see Stelle Zakharova do her full in wich she normaly did.

Someone said Shaposh did a triple full on floor? Can you link a video to that? I always thought it was Gnauk.

Maxi Gnauck was an unheralded star of the late 70s and early 80s (UB excepted) - she has great musicality in all of her FX!

Was she the first female to throw a full-in and a triple on floor?

Elena Mukhina - I think - was the first to perform a full-in; but I'm not sure about the triple full.

No, Elena Mukhina was the first to do a full-in on floor and it is named after her, Natalia Shaposhnikova was the first to do a triple.

It's a cute little girl routine. But imo Davidova's routine should have been in Finals-and won gold.
