  • Hey ya'll. Disneyland college program alum from 2008. Carnegie plaza room 206. If you have any questions on what to be prepared for or who to connect with, let me know. You do get in for free and are actually given a card to get up to 3 other people in at a time up to 16 times a year. It's pretty awesome. Just don't sell them or you will be canned. haha. Questions anyone?

  • @nkilmer619 Hey what's the purpose of the college program? What kind of stuff do they teach you. I'm graduating with a BA soon. Do they have post-grad intern programs as well? Anyway, I want to do any sort of maintenance work indoors. What kind of classes are there. I'm sick of being in a classroom. Isn't there on the job training without having to be in a classroom? Thanks for any info.

  • @cellardoor199991 Hey! Let me first start by saying that I would never change my experience for the world. I met so many people from around the country and they are still my very best friends to this day. they came to my wedding and we get together every year. Now, I will say this about the program...Personally I think it's a way for disney to get cheap labor. They put you in these two bedroom apartments that cost youaround $700 EACH! You live with 3 other people. The apartments are nice but...

  • @nkilmer619 They don't really teach you anything. It's mandatory to go but it's not like a traditional class for the most part. You will have some HW but it's not difficult. and when you pass, you will receive either your Ductorate, or Mousters degree at graduation. lol. One of the classes you sit in an auditorium at TDA and have a guest speaker (usually a pres or vice pres from the park) talk to you about their job and take questions. That class is pretty cool.

To end on a good note, it...

  • @cellardoor199991 ...when you are making close to minimum wage, it's hard to stay on top. Alot of my friends including myself had to call back home or dip far into their savings account for money.

Also, if you are looking to further your career, and perhaps get on the job training, this isn't the internship you want. They stick you in bottom level jobs. That's custodial, cashier, ride operater, out door vending, costumes, etc. No maintenance jobs as far as I've heard. I will say this tho...

  • @cellardoor199991 ...You DO have the opportunity to meet alot of people and alot of people that have positions to give you a job but I've never heard of anyone actually being successful at it. I have seen that a person in our class emailed Bob Iger and asked him to take him to lunch. Bob Iger replied, "You can't afford my lunch but I will take you." and they went and had lunch together. Mostly they just let you pick their brains.

The classes...to be cliche, are VERY "Mickey Mouse." ...

  • @cellardoor199991 ...really depends on what you are trying to get out of the program. Would I do it again? ehhh probably not, just because I am already farther in my career that going back would just be a waste of time. I will say this tho, When you do apply for a professional internship, they do look higher on the fact you went through the program because you are already versed in the disney mission statement and keys etc. However, in my entire class, only two people were offered...

  • @cellardoor199991 ...professional internships. If you are looking for a serious career advancement opportunity, this isn't your place. If you are looking to meet great people, network and find out about the company and a general overview of how it runs, then yes this is for you and you will have tons of fun.

Lastly, disney offers a ton of perks. I heard that they recently changed this policy but when i worked there, you could get 3 people in every day, 16 times a year. The college program...

  • @cellardoor199991 ...Also offers great behind the scenes opportunities. Such as haunted mansion tour (to learn how they make the ghosts), fireworks and fantasmic tour, riding space mountain with the lights on (after the park closes of course) etc. So if you are a disney fanatic it is a really cool opportunity to find out more info. If you have any more questions please ask. :) (That was really long)

  • Hi! I juss graduated from high school this year and i want 2 do the Disney College Program at Disneyland sooooo badly!!! but im sooo confused! • hey! i'm doing the disneyLAND program in 2011. i'm so excited! It says I have to apply in september. what job did you end up getting? how are you liking it so far? updates please!! :-)

  • YOUR AWESOME.

  • o! and what job did you apply for?

  • hey I am going in Spring of 2010 to the DL college program. My phone interview is tommorow!! When are you going?

  • Alright. The Disney CP people are coming to my school in about 1 month...did they come to your school is that how you found out about it? Because I DO want to do the Disneyland CP, but I wasn't sure if the people coming are like....only for WDW? I got people and places I wanna see in Cali haha. So Disneyland it is for me!

  • they didnt come to my school! i found out about the college program online. I am sure that they are comming for both disneyland and disney world so dont worry!

are you trying to do the spring program too??

    E-

  • Okay, I am sure I will find out once I attend a presentation. =)

And yesss I am trying to do Spring. I want to get out of my classes that I'd otherwise be taking next semester and give myself a break haha. ; P

I've heard that you get free park admission on your days off if you do it in WDW, but my friend said it was just "DISCOUNTED" admission for Disneyland...I hope that's not true! =\ Do you know anything about that? Because I actually couldn't find anything on the internet about it...

  • i doubt that you would have to pay for a ticket to disneyland, because if you work at any disney park or even downtown disney, you get into disneyland for free. You are working for them, so its one of the perks :)

have any questions you want me to answer in a vlog?

  • rated ya 5 stars! lol. i just found out from a girl that didn't get hired.. i guess she said that they said she didn't sound like she was being sincere. weird!

  • omg im so sorry for that girl...

that really makes me nervous... : /

    ahhh

  • Hey. Let me know if you get any questions that you don't know the answer too, I'll do my best to let you know. My phone interview was like 45 minutes,. lol, me and the lady just kept talking.

  • i think im gonna do another blog about things current and past cast members want you to know.

So do u have any special facts or behind the scenes info i can give to disneyland applicants?
