  • fake

  • There's no cut in the film, plus you can see his yellow sleeve on the way down. Also, he did have bare hands at the top and was wearing gloves at the bottom but if you look close you can see the gloves around his wrist while dumping the water out of the Topolino. And to the person that said "suprised that boat survived" and it looks like it was "made of plastic bags" you obviously don't know kayaks because the Topolino is legendary for being bomb proof.

  • you can tell its fake because the paddle and his glove that he's not wearing just fly up past the boat then when the boat lands he suddenly has the paddle that flew above when the boat was falling. Plus before the paddle/glove fly up the paddle is completely motionless its pretty easy to tell its fake.

  • Funny there is no other video or pic from either time FUNNY??

  • you can see his hands when he hits the water so if 50 50 on if its real or not im just going to go with its real why not

  • completely nuts, he's doing it allone? dude, respect! xD

  • awesome vid your insane

  • it was fake he just got out and ran the boat through

  • Crazy dude! Better him them me.

  • it is fake he didnt get caught in the eddy he paddled over..and after he suposedly got back in he never paddles the end is edited

  • It was fake. He was in the kayak when he got stuck in an eddie and had to bail, cause he couldn't handle it. Then he sent the kayak down with a camera and a paddle to pretend he went too. Then he edited being underwater. If it was real, the descent down a "World Record" drop would last more than a second. Totally fake and I'm surprised some of you fell for it.

  • so fake

  • Comment removed

  • because you can tell that he just put the paddle in in the boat and the camera attached to the boat.

  • new record: 186ft

  • that takes balls........ Lots of `em. I`ll pass this run. :)

  • German guy wants to die.

  • how do wake up in the morning and feel good about doing that? fukin ballsy

  • Get a better boat.

That thing looked like it was made from plastic bags from tescos.

How it survived that is beyond belief.

  • i think its the eskimo salto. a good boat just old and terrible outfitting(none)

  • @ConnJ6 topolino

  • some guy just went off Palouse Falls in Washington State 180'

  • 186'!

  • Tyler Bradt

  • Not 111 feet.

Besides the current record stands at 127 feet by Pedro Olivia

. Il salto era di "soli" 34 m

  • get a better camera retard

  • Why does he empty his boat. and if you were doing a world record you would have much better footage then that. Tao has the world record

  • haha. you have to be joking me. tao is far from the world record. the world record for freefall descent in a kayak successfully, ie, still in the boat, no implosion is now 108 ft. paul gamache. used to be tyler bradt at 107. do some research.

  • Comment removed

  • when did he do that? paul's was set nov 2008

  • false

  • even when you wrote this tao did not have the record.

  • if you think it is a fake please elaborate on how it is a fake!

  • clearly fake. the paddle is simply laying across the boat. if you look at how its laying, the shaft would be through the guys body where hes supposed to be sitting. you can even see how the air catches the paddle and rips it off of the kayak. furthermore, look how it lands. sideways. the dude would be dead. plus, hitting the rock on the way down wouldnt make it a freefall descent.

  • ok....... the way he has his paddle as he "free falls" wouldnt be through his body, i can hold my paddle going down a waterfall the same way as he did without it going through my body, you must be super man if you can hold a paddle straight with 100+ mile hour winds pushing it upwards

  • He has gloves on at the bottom but not at the top - explain that one!

  • wrong. its laid across the cockpit. second, when it flies off, there is no hand holding onto the paddle, youd see his arm go flying. you are dumb. you also didnt respond to how he supposedly lands flat and on his side. after 111 feet with no aerated water= death.

  • 100% fake but well edited...if you think otherwise you are an genuine idiot

  • the paddle is upside-down. Even if he were putting the paddle to the side to reduce his entry profile, it would have to be on the opposite side in order to be held the right way; and if you are good enough to be running drops of that size, you have to have been paddling long enough to at least know how to hold a paddle.

  • Yo dude...ok so first of all at the start of the drop his paddle may appear upside down however, that is because it is across his deck. Secondly if you think you you can drop a falls that size without your paddle comming up a bit off then you must either have a big cock or just be one!

  • fake!

  • "Second run double fun"...this guy rocks.

  • Pretty awesome. I couldnt ever jump from that height in a kayak!

  • His perfectionism, pride and not least the controversial discussions that followed persuaded him to make a second attempt. In the presence of two eyewitnesses and a notary, he repeated the descent on the 20th of January 2007. The second descent as well as the raw material for the film are legally attested.

  • if this is real it would be world record but at 1:16 he hits a ledge or something and that means if they measured from the first drop it won't count. besides guiness doesn't recognize it

  • they have 2 divisions for the waterfall desent: freefall, and over all

  • it's a fake

  • next time you should include the footage of him approaching the drop so it is more convincing.

all good tho, cause i wouldn't have even had the balls to hold that empty kayak next to the edge

  • man you craes the second one is fake but the first one was awesome becuase of the scary one right below it. Props to have the b@lls big enough to ferry across the top of it man.

  • Yes it's an obvious fate but it is awesome in its own right: that horizon line is real and he paddled a sizable drop right above into an eddy and then ferried across the current to the opposite shore. I don't think he ran the big one but kudos on the large pair of brass ones. Is it hard to find pants that fit?

  • it would take longer to drop that wouldnt it>

  • @kayakerskayakdownriv dude that's bullshit. it's only fractions of a second to fall many meters.

  • Fake!

  • its not

  • actually it is

  • the guy just sent his boat and a camera down and then switch to footage of him underwater or watever on impact, check it. and he used the same audio clip twice

  • I call bull!@# on this one.

Just as the kayak is reaching the lip the paddle is positioned backwards. i.e. the right blade is crossed over the centerline. Additionally, the timing doesn't make any sense. And if the camera was actually working after the drop, why not look up at the falls?

I think the same dude has another fake one here on youtube. Both are entertaining. :)

  • u can kinda see wat hapened wen it went to slow mo

  • I've heard about this, but the attempt was fairly obscure, and is disputed. As well...becuase of the "ramp"? its hard to tell how high it is. And the river in the distance looks to be separated by numerous other drops.

  • hmmm, I don't know if it's a fake, but some people here, should download the better qaulity version from bondle and look at it picture by picture....look at the three rocks and the treeline on the left side, then you see, that there is nothing cutted during the fall...it's only possible that it's cutted, when he lands in the water, but if it's real: Nice Job!!!!!!!!

  • c'est de la merde...un mauvais montage..take off this vido

  • these people are lame saying its fake. they just wish they could be a bad ass too!!

  • they would be true except that it is fake. any kayaker can tell

  • @drum3283 and you obviously don't know what you're talking about

  • The timing does seem off. But whatever. Tao's water fall is bullshit! Half of it is a slide. Ed L-YES, 105ish / Drave Grove-Yes, 103ish. I have heard Tyler Brant ran one in the same range. And maybe some others, but i know you can see true video of ED and DAVE. Tao should just give it up with his claim and call G.B.W.R. so people stop saying he holds the record.

  • regardless of whether its a fake or not its funny, "double run double fun" plus that boof would hurt like hell whether it was a 111 foot fall or a 11 foot fall.

  • sorry dudes, this ins´t a fake. the black screen is because of the entry in the water. He puts water in his bouat to bounce more into the water, so the shock isn´t this high. Also i know him and hes a extreme good paddle, but a bad video editer

  • oh i see, wrong video xD. this is obvious fake ^^

  • Tao Berman actually holds the World Record Waterfall Descent 98.4ft or 30 meters in a kayak. It's possible but improbable.

  • ERRONEOUS! Not sure who holds the world record now, but Ed Lucerno hucked Alexandra Falls in Canada, which is just over 105 ft. Its in the video by Epicocity "Bigger Than Rodeo"

  • he swam though

  • definitely fake

  • i see your point. you can see that it's fake.

  • WOW.. this video is right up there with the quality of a Michael Moore FLICK.. amazing.. you are the best.. this should get you all sorts of offers.. amazing.. wow..

  • Its fake he would have been fallin much longer look at 1:15 1:16 he bounces halfway through then is in the water FAKED

  • Was that newton who proved that phisics law of gravity that told two objects of different weight fall at the same speed (in a vacume) I don't know who it was but that was sure as shit was not even close to 100'

  • dead givaway is the lack of hang time lol

  • The black screen between 1:17 and 1:18 is pretty obvious.

Also, when he starts he doesn't wear a glove on his left hand and on his right hand a glove that doesn't cover his fingers. When he is going down the falls he wears full gloves on his left and right hand (he could have changed it, but there's no reason to). And he holds his paddle wrong when he's going of the falls if I'm right...

  • He is wearing pogies, which you can see are rolled up on his hands. Pogies basically form a pocket around the paddle to help keep your hands warm. So you are correct in saying he doesn't have gloves on, but he clearly has pogies on during the whole film (just rolled up). Secondly, he is doing the Oregon tuck (his body and paddle position), which is the proper way to huck a large fall

  • correction, between 1:17 and 1:18

  • between 1:16 and 1:17 it cuts out. end of story

  • thats where he switches the videos. when hes in the middle of the boof where he SHOULD be going off the huge drop, he changes it to the middle of a boof of a smaller drop. the height differences from the first part of the drop to the second are stagerring, and its easily a fake.

  • your dreamin man, hollywood couldnt do it. Theres more reasons than i can be bothered mention.

Ask someone to look at it who knows anything about working video.

  • you can see his hand come up on the left side of the screen as he is going down the drop (1:49 look carefully). Im pretty convinced its genuine.

  • Thats a dumby's hand. They put a fake dude in the boat for the distance video angle. I have seen that and the guys is all limp like he was unconsious. If you boofed a drop like that your spine would go through the bottom of the boat. You would be dead or crippled for life.

    T

  • thats a terrible fake. he sets the paddle next to the boat/ attaches it with duct tape. its flimsy as shit, theres no one holding onto it, just the boat, a camera, and the paddle. Then, as the boat hits the second lip, he cuts it. Then he goes to a video of him doing a smaller waterfall, and langing a boof. the descent is way too short as well. Very interesting that someone would even try to fake this, kinda a waste of time.

  • fake but rad effort in making it

  • If you did it, you survived it, not paddel it.

  • lol nice

  • i dunno if its a fake. the paddler does get out before the fall and id never put my paddle in that position but i cant explain the roll at the end.

  • BS,

Nobody would place their paddle to the side as they were going off the lip. One last good stroke and then to the side before impact.

Also the time for the descent is to short to be that height.

  • who puts water in his boat?

  • Keeps the bow down in long free descent. Tao put milk jugs full of water in his bow for th 98 footer he did in BC

  • wooooo
