Watching D2 brings out interesting question;

"Can black boys play hockey?"

The movie teaches that girls who look like they are took in picture from somewhere Deutch countryside can play hockey and it's more than "cool", but there was no teaching if black boys can play hockey.

What I mean is that when you watch D2, Jesse and Russ feel too much of "token black" characters placed in the movie just to make it more of a 'multiethnic' movie for multi-ethnic audience.

No, not that I wouldn't like their characters. I like every character in Ducks movies, they all have their weaknesses and strenghts.

But when we come to reality, hockey is "white sport" and there's not many idols for non-white boys (and girls) in the pro-level ice hockey.

Which is actually kinda sad. If kids want to be something, they need to have good, positive role models in that category.

I'm surprised they don't hype Jarome Iginla more for this very reason. African-American(Canadian) who's a two-time Maurice Richard Trophy winner, and should be a three time Hart Trophy finalist this June. Not to mention he's still in his prime at 30 years old. The NHL seemed to be on the right track after '04 by making him the poster boy to attract this type of viewership you're refering to. But then the lockout came, as did Crosby and Ovechkin, to whom the NHL turned to as the new poster boys.
