  • i got a shiny drifloon with the masuda method on the 2,930th egg, amazingly it shone on halloween!

  • how long does it take when you start sr for a shiny on average?

  • @mephilesXshadow Well, it could be one hour, 5 minutes, 40 hours, you never know. I got a shiny Lugia in 1.5 hours but after hitting the 20 hour mark on platinum still no shiny driffloon.

  • how many soft resets??

  • where u get darkrai

  • @TheFailbloggers event

  • Yay Thanks for this tipp #LOL XD got 2 shiny ones

  • how many SR's does it averagly take?

  • @pieman123ish it may take 10 it may take 10000 you never know

  • Pokemon are getting uglier and uglier.

  • Is this is drifloon you find at valley windworks?

If so, will the sprite appear as the shiny does before you go into battle? Or to do you have to into battle to find out if it's shiny or not?

  • @Serimallia: Yes it is, and Drifloon's overworld sprite will not show it's alternate colours since it's attributes (including Shininess) are not determined until you initiate battle.

In short, you'll have to enter the battle to see if it is Shiny.

  • @halcyonXlll Alright, Thanks :D

  • Lucky!I've been SRing that drifloon and nothin happens D: actually first time SRing really fun :D

  • how do you soft-reset??

  • L+R+START+SELECT for DS games, or A+B+START+SELECT for GBA games.

  • what nature is it

  • wait...how can you reset a random encounter?

  • Care to elaborate on your question? I'm not quite sure I get what you're asking.

  • like in the video description you set you were soft resetting until you got a shiny drifloon, but how can you do that if you find them in the grass? like SRing while you find one walking in the grass?

sorry if its confusing, im intent on getting at least one shiny D:

  • Oh , I get your meaning now. Well, Drifloon aren't found randomly in the grass, but rather they are met in an overworld encounter.. That is, one you would approach and talk to on the overworld to begin the battle (as with most unique, or Legendary Pokémon).

  • Hey I just have a question on how SRing works...can you save right beside the icon of the pokemon that starts the encounter (like for legendaries or stuff) and reset it, or do you have to save outside the room so the stats don't get preset or something?

  • You can save beside it. All attributes of the Pokémon are generated just after you press 'A' to initiate the battle against it, usually as the screen starts fading out before the battle scene.

Roaming Pokémon may be a bit different as their attributes are set when they begin roaming across the continent, for example the Lati@s of HGSS (it's attributes are generated as Steven shows you it's image, in Vermilion), or Mespirit in DPPt (generated when you talk to it in Lake Verity cavern) ect.

  • did you use RNG abuse at all or just soft reset untill you got a shiny? message me with an awnser PLZ

  • No RNG abuse here, this one was met through the soft-reset approach. I'm not really interested in RNG abusing for Shinies unless they carry flawless IVs as well.

  • I'd sr for another spirit tomb but he kinda sucks :\

  • My shinies are: Palkia Ho-oh Kyogre Staraptor dunsparce dragonair metagross manetric and just got geodude off GTS today.

  • if i soft reset my screen goes white for a long time what did i do wrong? i soft reset for ds

  • How long is a "long time"? It is normal for there to be a white screen lasting about ~3 seconds whilst the game is loading.

  • You upload this on 05/12/08 and you find that drifloon in 06/12/08? How could it possibly be?

  • That would probably be due to the Time Zone difference between where I live, and whatever Time Zone YouTube is set to observe.

  • can u soft reset and get drifloon ? nvr tried and i was wondering if spiritomb worked wasnt sure if u could let me know that would rock and grats on drifloon

  • Yes, both Drifloon and Spiritomb can be SR'ed for.

  • ok ty very much.

  • got four shiny pokemon two were trade ar ho-oh and lugia an ar zubat that caught use my ar and other just by be lucky without cheating soo pretty lucky caught shiny fearow without ar and encounter too without chaining tooo sooooooooooooo awesome

  • The worst time is encouter a shiny is by a random encounter. Ypur pokemon may be too weak to face the shiny pokemon or you may run out of pokeballs and have to run away.

  • my shinies are dustox, pidgeot, onix(soon to be steelix),staraptor, dialga, and golem.

  • @xhydropumpx, No, SoftResetting is completely safe (;

  • Will soft resetting result with the game crashing or anything like that?

  • i have a shiny marowak, charizard, swellow ev trained, registeel, palkia, shaymin, and entei

  • XD There are two shinies I really want to get. Drifoon and Larvitar.

Right now I'm trying to get shiny drifloon and I've been soft resetting since 12:00. Its 6:00 now and no luck LOL. Also, I went chaining larvitars in the middle of a swarm and the chain kept breaking at 34.

The only shiny I've caught was a shinx, just by chance when I first got the game. X3 I guess my luck isn't that bad.

    Congrats with this one.

  • Think yourself lucky. It took me 3 weeks soft resetting about 6 hours a day for my shiny giratina.

  • did you use the reset code???

  • What do you mean by "reset code"?

  • why is it orange? i thought it was yellow?

  • It is yellow, but the colour came out a little off in the recording.

  • i still don't competely understand. when you try to get a shiny do u soft reset when you first see it or do you battle it then softreset?

  • You would soft-reset upon first seeing the Pokémon, just after entering battle with it.

I'll go ahead and summarise the process..

1- Save in front of the Pokémon you wish to soft-reset for.

2- Press 'A' to enter battle against it.

3- Look at the wild Pokémon's sprite that appears on the screen; is it normal coloured, or is it rare coloured (Shiny)?

4- If it is normal coloured, then soft-reset and repeat from step 2. Or, if it is rare coloured, then catch it. Obviously.

    That's about it.

  • A couple of quick questions... A lot of people are able to count how many soft resets they do. How are they able to count? There are lots of videos like:

    "Shiny Dialga 16,594 soft resets!"

Who would be able to count to such a number? Is there like, a thing on the game which counts how many times you've soft reset the game?

I've never soft reset before... I need to try it at some point. Does soft resetting really speed up the time it takes to encounter it again?

  • You can use the counter app, I believe.

  • so do you get in a battle then soft reset then it will be shiny?

  • Well.. it is not quite as simple as that, but you've got the gist of it.

The Pokémon is not guarranteed to appear in it's Shiny form, not after ANY number of resets, so you would have to keep trying until it does shine. It is true that this could take a mere x reset, but likewise it could end up taking xxxxx+ resets.

That is why we call it "chance".

  • ok thanx for that

  • how to do u soft reset?

  • L+R+Start+Select same time

  • I know your problem people (where drifloon doesnt apear) I really wanted it but it didnt appear either but on thursday it appeared (which i dont get)im catching it now. but, dont try to cheat time because nintendo found a way to counter it so dont try. just keep looking everyday ok.

  • thx

  • What does soft reset do? Someone respond

  • A soft-reset will reload the game you are currently playing.. similar to turning your console off and then on via the power switch, only soft-resetting will achieve this faster with less drain on the battery.

In Pokémon? Soft-resetting can be used to help a player get one-time overworld Pokémon (like Dialga/Palkia ect.) with superior attributes. Bad nature? Low IVs (stats)? Not Shiny?.. Just soft-reset and re-encounter that Pokémon until you get what you want.

    In a nutshell..

  • Thanks for the help. I can finally get it. I've been trying for a month

  • I have one too! If anyone is interested I am willing to trade for it. I have also made a video on my shiny pokemon which are up for trade. Check it out if anyone is interested.

  • lol im not sure how, but mine stayed all weekend on plat

  • i cnt get it either and i tried your advice but i cnt get it

  • how come mine aint there?? its friday (in my game) but it aint there... : / i got planitum today and defeated mars, still aint there:S:S:S

  • Ain't it? =P

I am unsure, one possibility I can think of is that it may only begin appearing one week after you've defeated Mars at the Valley Windworks; in other words, not this Friday but the next one.

Check back there next Friday (by waiting a week, or by adjusting your DS' clock), it see if it has appeared then.

  • maybe it's because you're there in the evening, cause normally it will only appear in the middle of the day, hope it helped (:

  • no it comes out at night

20:00 to 4:00 on ur poketech watch

  • Actually, Drifloon will be present at all times of the day. The observant would have noticed in the video that it was morning when I met my Shiny Drifloon.

    =3

  • would u be willing to trade for that =) or does any1 have a spare they are willing to give away

  • did you find this shiny in front of Valley Windworks?

if so, does it look shiny before you start a battle with it or does it look normal at first?

  • It would look normal at first. Any Pokémon that you can see on the overworld will always show their normal colours before the battle (Includes Drifloon, Giratina, Dialga, Palkia, Heatran, Azelf, Mespirit, Uxie, Cresselia, Darkrai, Shaymin, Regigigas and Arceus).

You must enter battle with the Pokémon to be able to tell if it is Shiny or not.

  • i have a shiny beatifly and wheezying it was awesome

  • Oh .. thanks :D

  • How do u evolve a driftloon to a driftblim?

  • Through levelling-up; Drifloon will evolve at Lv. 28.

  • i found a shiny krikitot while looking for cresselia :)

  • yeah lucky, and i found shiny starly while looking for Mesprit lol

  • ive never found a shiny :D

  • i have a shiny driftblim

  • I have a Shiny Tentacruel From Emerald,

    Phanpy from Leaf Green,

Rattata From Fire Red And A Marowak Also From Leaf Green.

On Diamond I Have Seven Full Boxes Full Of Shiny Legendaries Off WifI!!!!!

    Not Bad Eh.

  • congrats

  • OMG!!! I just started to reset again for Drifloon and a SHINY Drifloon appeared!!! This is my first day of resetting for it!

  • Congratulations, that's pretty much how it happened for me too =3

My first Shiny Drifloon appeared on the very first SR of the day, just a day after beginning the search. And my second appeared in less than 200 SRs.

  • HOW DO U SOFT RESET !!!!!!!!!!!!

  • For DS games, you must press L + R + START + SELECT simultaneously to soft-reset.

  • Does it work if you turn off and on? cause im trying to get a SR shiny dialga, and my L button doesn't work. gutted for me cause i had everything done and stuff, but my ds got stolen, and the faggot started a new game, so i'm back to square effin one

  • Well.. it's not normally recommended since it apparently drains the battery more than Soft-Resetting, but it will still work for Shiny hunting, yes.

You might want to go to the DS options and change the start-up mode to "Auto", if you haven't already. This will allow your game load up automatically upon turning the console on, rather than having to click through the NDS menu every time.

  • I'm SRing for shiny Drifloon right now!

  • in pokemon patinum do you have to do smething special before you can catch it i did vlley windworks part of the story line and came back on friday morning and i coulnt find it

  • To the best of my knowledge, the only requirements for this is completing the Valley Windworks event, as you mentioned.

It could be that the Drifloon's appearance begins on the Friday of the week AFTER the week that you chased out Team Galactic. For example, you complete the Valley Windworks section on Thursday, and then Drifloon starts appearing NOT on the Friday immediately following, but on the Friday of the next week and onwards.

This is purely speculation, mind you, but I might be right =P

  • I only have a shiny psyduck

  • OMG I just found a shiny Drifloon an hour ago. I'm so happy.

  • I have a shiny crobat, shiny lairon, shiny surskit, shiny latios and a shiny octilleri =)

  • hack for latios lol

  • I have a Shiny Drifloon,and a Shiny Medicham..,but I hate Medicham, he's blue..

  • Congrats on the shiny Drifloon.

  • Aren't shiny drifloon usually yellow, rather than orange?

  • They are, and it was. I don't know why it shows up as orange in this video; it looked quite normal in the original recording prior to cropping it in WMM :x

You can still see it in all it's yellowy glory in the picture link included in the video description.

  • holy crap, congrats! how long did it take? i just got my shiny dratini on fire red two days ago. it's about time i had some luck. it took more than a month to get another SR shiny.

  • It didn't take long at all.. Um, I had started by doing a few dozen SRs the day before, on Friday afternoon, but then turned my DS off and left it until I resumed several hours later, early Saturday morning. After another one or two-hundred SRs, it Shone ^^

Well done with your Dratini success.

  • wow you did get pretty lucky. i'll probably SR for one on my diamond. i've been trying to get shiny torchic for over a month on my sapphire and emerald. do you have any advice when SRing on emearld due to the wacked RNG? most people seem to recommend restarting the game every 200 SRs. i'm on my 31st emerald file and still haven't even found a shiny zigzagoon =(

  • You're so very lucky. =o
