I remember in the 70's when I was a pre-teen band student when my sister told me about this band. I was amazed they were so cool & from Ok City. hanks for this posting.
I picked up Rose Garden on 45 off of ebay a year or so ago. I grew up in OKC just a little too late to go see these guys, but I do remember hearing them on WKY radio.
I watched this band play several times in Oklahoma City. Their break-out hit was "Rose Garden" - and before it crossed over to Country and Western. I've tried for years now to find an MP3 of their Rose Garden version...or a CD of their original album. If anyone knows where to come by this, please make a post.
I remember this tune back around 1967 or '68. Saw the band play several times in Oklahoma City clubs. Harold Jones and Harlan (forget his last name) on vocals; Hadley Hockensmith on guitar. Hadley later joined Neil Diamond and is still playing with Neil. A great, brassy band from OKC.
This was the group that did the first version of the song that goes, "I beg your pardon, I never promised you a rose garden," that I ever heard. I was searching for that one on YouTube to add to my playlist of songs written by Joe South, but this is the closest I came to finding it.
Trust me on this. This was a very big record locally here in OKC on our top 40 radio station. Good post.

I actually have a 45rpm of Rose Garden by this group, bought it in Enid, OK, in 1969. Great tune!
