I've been a Lep fan since the Pyromania days and I have to say this song rocks. It still has that core sound that they've been so famous for over all these years. I do have to admit they have changed sound direction at different times but they still hold onto that true rock and roll sound. A thumbs up from a long time fan....
The greatest thing about Def Leppard is that they EVOLVE... they produced music that specifically related to everything that I was living as early as 1980.... and they have continued to produce songs that I felt I could relate to throughout my life... even now... it's eerie, and I continue to follow them, because their songs make me feel connected even to this day!
I've been a fan since 81, loved the diff sounds in both X and Slang and appreciate their departure from the norm. I like 'Believin', but don't care for the other 2 new songs. Maybe they'll grow on me, but I've never had to have DL songs marinate before- lol. Whatever sound the band chooses to experiment with, after all these years, is fine with me. Even if I don't totally love the new stuff, I have enough old stuff to keep me content. :-) Rock on, boys.
Hey haters, you really aren't Leppard fans. This song is in my opinion their best since 2002's "Now", and the best new material (all 3 songs) since Retro Active. Euphoria was also a great album, along with most of X and Songs From the Sparkle Lounge.
They also rocked in concert a few weeks ago, the best concert I've been to.
I think the tracks off this album sound great. Yes not exactly like what us older fans are use to, but they're still good. Bands have to roll with the changes too, or they die out.
it's been years since I listened to this band, and I have to say these guys sound just as good now as they did 10 and even 20 years ago. gotta love this band ;)
@1976wooddaleway Um...yeah? I was commenting on the Slang album. It was the first album they did since their first without Lange producing. This was back in '96...I'm not sure what you're even talking about. Trust me, I know my DL.
@1976wooddaleway Dude, I loved Slang! It's actually one of my favorite albums. I love Gift of Flesh. And Pearl of Euphoria is amazing. I think it was about time they got rid of Mutt Lange and did their own thing.
I think my typical reaction to most of Def Leppard's new stuff is that I hate it at first because Im expecting something else, but I end up loving these songs upon subsequent listenings
The last time I got this excited about a Def Leppard song was 8 years ago with "Long Long way to go" but this song is a great uptempo track with the trademark Def Leppard sound all over it. Welcome back guys. No go record an album that recaptures the magic of Adrenalize, Hysteria, and Pyromania.
Really great to see Def Leppard out on tour with a few new songs. I allways thought they were one of the best long live this band R.I.P. Steve Clark your sound is allways missed.
Well, I see the soulless robot that now inhabits the skin of Def Leppard has spewed forth yet another crap-tastic four minutes & some odd seconds of flat, meaningless, uninspired audio sedative. This band is now like living with a 98 year old relative in a coma; it's nice to remember the good times, but now you'd forget they were there if not for them occasionally producing shit.
Possible the best Leppard song I've heard since Euphoria. It seems to capture the spirit of their classic albums....Hysteria, Adrenalize, Euphoria...better than the songs of X, Yeah! or Sparkle Lounge.
For the old time leppard fans, this band changed when they ran out of material that steve clark had anything to do with(adrenalize).criticize me if you want, but this band started out as metal;now they want to be pop, period.Listen to vivian's playing in Dio and compare to anything he's done in Leppard, basically nothing but blend in,when he is capable of so much more.Just a waste of talent as far as I'm concerned. My mouth has been watering for something like adrenalize for over 18 years now.Sigh...
@Jamcad01 That's part of it. Another part is that they haven't written anything truly inspired since Slang and Euphoria. They've gone stale, and Mutt Lange would have never allowed crap like this to leave the studio.
@michaelisajerk It might be better if Lange produced but it wouldn't be much better. Anyway I think this song is great. (Older Leppard songs are Superb)
Def Leppard have always combined modern pop and hard rock successfully. Unlike Bon Jovi, this band always keep a small part of their Sheffield rock and roll roots! That's what I like about this song, great vocals; classic Phil Collens guitar picking; driving drums and bass of Rick and Sav! Keep believin' !
There is no need for debate when the subject pertains to Def Leppard. Anybody who does piss and moan about this or that about them doesnt appreciate them and there 30 plus years of awesome material.
you have to give credit to def leppard for always changing and evolving and keeping their music fresh, Def lep will always rock..... apart from that rubbish period in the 90s
I think the reason why most people aren't enjoying this song (or the other three) is because they're expecting typical Def Leppard...when they have proven time and time again that each new album/song they write takes a step in an entirely different direction than what the fans expect. I think that if people stop expecting Sparkle Lounge, Hysteria, High n' Dry, etc., that the songs wouldn't seem half as bad.
@alextylerrr People aren't expecting Sparkle Lounge when they hear Def Leppard. People want to hear Pyromania, Hysteria, and, maybe to a lesser extent, Adrenalize. They've got so much great material from every album they've ever done.
@alextylerrr YES. At first when I heard Slang album I was horrified, having heard only Hysteria and Pyromania beforehand and Def Leppard being my favourite band based on them. I returned the album, but have since bought it back after listening to it a bit more, and accepting that they are continually changing! Still, I do long for Hysteria :S
@alextylerrr there you go, spoken like a true Def Leppard fan right there, I couldn't have said it better myself. Dude you ROCK and so do they and they ALWAYS will. and I agree. this song does ROCK. I've got chills hearing them.
@alextylerrr Your exactly right! I used to dislike this song 'cause Hysteria was awesome. Then I listened to it and it was love at first sight! Love Love Love IT! <3
of the three new tracks, this is the one that I liked right off the bat... the other two grew on me and I like but this one is exceptional... I love the 80's vibe.. after all they are an 80's band....
Absolutely love the intro and fadeout; very cool and dreamy. The song has some bits that are good too, but it just seems a bit 80's b movie soundtrack in parts. But, da Boys have so much credit with me they can do anything they want at this point. Its not very realistic to expect Hysteria and Pyromania every time. Plus, they are a bit older and this music makes more sense for them now. I'll buy anything they put out because I'm faithful and they still blend better than anyone. Rock On, Lepp!
First off, I have to agree, great song, great groove. And that would be AWESOME if they got Mutt back for an album. But this is where I disagree, best song since Adrenalize? No love for Euphoria? That album had some alright tracks!
I've been a Lep fan since the Pyromania days and I have to say this song rocks. It still has that core sound that they've been so famous for over all these years.
