  • Senior Harvard AIDS Prevention Researcher Dr. Edward Green

According to Dr. Green, science is finding that the media is actually on the wrong side of the issue. In fact, Green says that not only do condoms not work, but that they may be exacerbating the problem in Africa.

Dr. Green found that part of the elusive reason is a phenomenon known as Risk Compensation or Behavioral Disinhibition.

  • teton99, could you explain further please?

  • Here's the title to the article:

Harvard Researcher agrees with Pope on condoms in Africa

    March 23 2009

    Word press

  • teton99, thank you very much!

  • I don't know why you've been thumbed down, you're absolutly right.

Condoms are the biggest cause of AIDS and other diseases in places like Africa and Spain. They're not discarded properly or used properly, so instead of benifitting, they do much worse

  • thx, rosaryfilms

  • Freedaaa, you are welcome!

  • Its like wearing a seatbelt.

In 99% of accidents, they save your life, but there is always a chance of getting hurt.

Condoms DO in FACT help the prevention of STD's to a very large extent.

    Is there a better alternative?

    No.

  • SeeYouNextFall, no, you are incorrect. Your 99% number is pure fiction to begin with. Self-control (the virtue of chastity) and abstinence are the answers -- no premarital sex.

  • Okay, abte4nance is the best route for preventing STD's.

    But that is not realistic.

People will NEVER stop having sex out of wedlock.

As a matter of fact, Adam and Eve werent married when they had sex.

So teh responsible thing to do is inform people about what works and what doesnt.

Teach abstenence, but also teach that IF they are going to have sex use protection.

That is what will save lives, not some fairytale about waiting till your married.Because that will never happen with most people.

  • SeeYouNextFall, about 50% of pregnancies are not planned -- do you why? Birth control methods -- which include you infallible condoms -- are ineffective. BTW, you are absolutely incorrect about Adam and Eve.

  • Ok, 50% may not be planned, but that means 50% that ARE planned.

So can you tell me where in the Bible it says that Adam and Eve (if they existed) had a ceremony that says they were married before sex?

And by the way, why should you and your church decide what I do in my bedroom with my fiance?

As Americans, we have the choice to be a Christian or not.

And you you also tell me where in the bible it says that a man and woman MUST be married before having sex?

    Thank you.

  • SeeYouNextFall, show me where it says that they did NOT get married. Fornication has always been forbidden in the Old Testmand and New Testament for many reasons. Fornication is forbidden in the Bible, there are many, many references.

  • hey rosary i was wondering if you actually know of a reference in the bible where it specifically says the only way you should be having sex is after marriage. I was having a discussion with a friend and neither of us could find one, it would really help me out- thanks

  • nordette, there are hundreds of references in the Bible that fornication is a sin. Please do a Biblical keyword search on "fornication".
