  • amazing work, check my vid of Mouse

  • Great video keep up the good work.

  • Kevin moore mixed with porcupine tree would be insane!!

  • @mikeybo13 I don't know, it's like the Steven Wilson of keyboards... and he can even do enjoyable solos!.. Not like, say, the Deadwing one xD Of course I'm joking

  • This song would fit in a New York private party in a spacious industrial kinda apartman or condo with tall ceiling, wood floor, white walls with white water radiators on them, and thick square glass blocks in the walls. Music is not too loud and people are chatting with a glass of wine in their hands. For some reason I see this image every time I listen this song.

  • 7 dislikes like Hitler too much!

  • I wonder if Kevin is the one singing?

  • @xXmusicman007Xx yes he is

  • Great band, awesome cd... we get compared often to Chroma Key with our band Fourteen Twentysix. Such a compliment!

  • I like old Dream Theater, new Dream Theater, Chroma Key, OSI, and I'm sure I'll like DT without Portnoy.

Who cares? Just enjoy the music.

  • All the "Dream" is gone from their music. Now all they have are the "Theatrics".

At least we have Chroma Key and our late 80's, 90's and early 00's DT albums. :)

  • @19Labrie63 You must be smoking something if you didn't like their last two albums. And I'm a long-time fan, too. Their only really poor album, to me, is Train of Thought, and even then I still like to hear it every now and again.

  • It's made by Kevin from Dream Theater. Solo project under the name groupname "Chroma Key"...

  • layer

  • I rememebr that fantastic tune from my teenage DT days. Fantastic tune bringing to mind a more trippy version of Depeche Mode or some spacey quality synth-pop. Thanks!

  • Hey, cool video! If you like Kevin Moore, feel free to visit my fan website: The Mooreatorium. Search for it on Google.

  • iduno, iliked his work like in space dye vest for example, but im having a hard time liking his music now - no offence

  • great song !!! i love this album

  • Chroma Key FTW!!!

  • this sounds like porcupine tree. Kevin should play with porcupine tree together with Richard.

  • Comment removed

  • it doesn't matter whether or not he can play it, it matters whether or not he DOES play it.

don't get me wrong, i love both rudess and moore, and i know that rudess has been responsible for some amazing stuff on octavarium and scenes from a memory. it's just his solos are pretty boring, and i much prefer moore's style in terms of playing and composition

  • i agree, just a different style, more compatable with Petrucci for the best part. I like Kevin other projects, so i find nothing wrong with the split of kevin and DT

  • @Swatsinger are people really still discussing this shit? It's been a decade guys...

  • perfect!

  • There is a sadness in Kevin that connects with you on a very emotional level. His music provides a sonic resting place for your pain and thus provides relief. I speak from my own personal experience. It started with Wait For Sleep and especially Space Dye Vest. It has carried on brilliantly in Chroma Key.

  • both brilliant songs

  • Great vid. Does anybody have the original Colorblind video, made by Kevin himself?

  • Dream theater has reached its own fan base, its own cult following status (prog metal), so they ain´t gonna get get away from that if they want to be sure they get money from it

Kevin Moore´s too much open minded and innovative to be in dream theater

    roberto dellavalle

  • Kevin Moore is the "Syd Barrett" of Dream Theater! :D

  • I could not agree with you more.

I love this music, it does something to me that Dream Theater's works could never. I listen to this album practically every day

  • Amen!

  • So much better than annything out of DT's catalogue. But that's just how I feel

  • He takes a totally different direction with Chroma Key and his solo work. It isn't all about what he IS playing but the atmosphere he projects. If you take a listen to ghostbook you can get a better feel for what he is trying to accomplish. It is in a few respects very minimalistic and groundbreaking.

  • OSI is good, but Chroma Key is effing amazing. This music blows my mind, perfect rainy night driving music. I just wish he would put out another album.

  • My 3 Top Dream Theaters Key:

    1. Kevin Moore

    2. Derek Sherinian

    3. Jordan Rudess

  • I think Rudess is capable of replacing Moore on keyboard-playing, but Moore always was one of the best-rounded lyricists in Dream Theater. That's very tough to replace.

Portnoy is consistently above-average with lyrics, and Petrucci is hit or miss.

(Sadly, Myung is fantastic lyricist whom rarely gets to show his skills. He tends to write more in free verse, which the other DT guys hate trying to nail down to music.)

  • If only we could combine Rudess' technical skill, Moore's emotion, and Sherinians lightheartedness all into one. Wait, that might bring about an end to all conflicts in the universe though.

  • i truly love dream theater but honestly since kevin left 'dream' is missing.this man may not have jordan's or derek's skill but his musical genius is far beyond the others two.imo of course.

  • you have the right

  • Amen!

  • My thoughts exactly. Rudess' skill is ridiculous and I dare say surpassing of Moore. That said, I STILL prefer Moore. I can't explain it. Talent doesn't necessarily make you a "better" musician. As a keyboardist that writes mostly solo music, Moore will probably always be my number one influence.

  • 100% agreed, man. Moore is just an artist, I guess.

  • Kevin Moore's also got the heart and soul in his music. Reaches out and touches you deeply, to me his music is for more than my ears, it's good for my soul as well.

  • Kevin moore assurement un musicien de grand talent qui donnait une ame à la musique de dream theater la preuve est faite que tout ne reside pas essentiellement dans la technique mais dans l'équilibre entre technique et GENIE de composition

  • i love this song

  • Distorted vocals turned me off at first but then the melodies got the best of me and to this day i'm helplessly addicted to this album..

  • Man Chroma Key is so awesome, took me longer to get into(Im a metal guy) but those 3 albums are just genius. great melodies all around.

  • I've just discovered Chroma Key and kevin Moore has become on of my favorite artists with Ulver and Gentle Giant. It seems to me that these bands are more interested into making really wonderfull art than making money or create the most complex or technical music. (sorry my english could be better)

  • Thanks man! One of my favourite songs. CK rocks! Rock on Kevin!

  • No no!

Dream Theate madde a huge mistake when they let him go.

Bot Have you Heard about O.S.I. Office of Strategic influence? and I mean the band not the US Goverment Agency. Mike Portnoy, Petrucci, and Kevin, together. A real new KM feeling with the DT sound. Not the Images and Words, that I adore so much, but great!

  • Don't forget Jim Matheos on guitar! He played with OSI too.

BTW, I think some of Kevin's finest moments were on DT's 'Awake'. "Space-Dye Vest" is a classic in every sense of the word.

  • Images and Words is the all time favourite for me. Waiting for sleep, Take the time, Surrounded, and yeah, Awake: 6:00 rocks! :)

  • Yeah, same here, dude! Awesome tracks, and Another day was also a brilliant track.

  • Dream Theater didn't let him go, he quit because he didn't want to make the same kind of music DT was making.

  • @dio52 And seeing how DT changed so much after 'Awake', I don't blame Kevin one bit for leaving when he did. Smart decision.

  • @cvg1099 metropolis was good and six º was also good, don't you like them?

  • @elxtranjero I absolutely love Scenes From A Memory, and there is some good material on Six Degrees. It just doesn't sound like what Kevin would have wanted to do. Their sound changed too much and it's a good thing they parted ways when they did. Chroma Key might take DT fans some getting used to initially, but if they hang in there and end up "getting it", it's well worth it.

  • @cvg1099 Considering Space-Dye Vest is one of my favorite DT songs it didn't take me any time to get used to Chrona Key, I loved it the first listen. But I understand what you mean. :)

  • @dio52 I wonder how DT's sound would be totally different today if Kevin stayed with them... While I like Jordan Rudess very much (Metropolis pt.2 is amazing), Kevin put something incredible in their songs. And Space-Dye Vest and the story behind it is just amazing.

  • Kevin could care less about being famous or being in a well known band. He is not a conventional musician by any stretch of the imagination. That's also why he's lived in such different places as New Mexico, California, Canada, Costa Rica and Turkey since leaving DT.

  • I wonder who made this clip.

    KM'S own???

    KM AND DT... VIRTUOSO~~~

  • I made the vid

    Plum

  • @Lorneplumber LOL :D

  • @Lorneplumber several skips for me, but thanks for trying

  • excellent song and great decision leave dt totally different styles

  • KM songwriting always makes u close your eyes and just let yourself fly or something with what you're hearing. Doesn't matter if it was with DT like 15 years ago or with CK. Truly one of my fav musicians around

  • "when the sun rose like a bomb" sounds like an atomic bomb or something like that.

"but things are getting clearer" more facts are revealed.

"i can almost read the writing in the mirror" i can almost see what "i" did.

i couldn't find out what three way tragedy or freeway tragedy means, but I'm sure the difrence has a meaning.

please tell me if something is wrong or if you can find more.

  • Awesome song from one of the best musicians and composers around.

Re: its subject - to me it's about regret.

Colorblind = unable to see the 'color' {good} in the present situation:

'Pantone Memory' - Pantone is a color system used in printing, comprising 000s of colors.

So pantone memory = looking back on the past as if it were multi-hued and wonderful, whereas 'greyscale eyes' = what you see in the present moment is just shades of grey.

    Just my take.

  • I did a little bit of research

    290=css alabama old battle ship

3 cv=american battle ship during ww2 on wich atomic bomb were tested had also somthing to do with Japan

    green=money, capitalism, (hope)

    red=war, blood, (love)

    blue=truth, (cold)

colorblind=not able to see the truth

  • Kevin Moore was the core of theatres atmosphere. he painted his artistic masterpieces on the canvas of music and allowed us a sample of todays most modern genius. god bless.

  • That's exactly how I would put it, definitely agree with you!

  • Kevin Moore is an oustanding musician, just seems we dont get enough from him, only tasters! He strikes me as a person I'd truly like to sit down with, have a beer and just chat.

  • I heard he is releasing a second soundtrack for the same director.

  • holy shit , i had no idea there was a video for this, kevin moore is a bad muther fucker....this is what the masses should be feed!!!!!!!!!

  • Kevin wasn't sacked. He left due to creative differences.

  • How come Dream Theater sacked two of their most talented members ever? Charlie and Kevin are both incredibly great musicians.

Chroma Key is one of the most interesting musical projects ever.

Keep up the good work Kevin.

  • Don't forget about Derek Sherinian, who has had an amazing post-DT career. Dream Theater has always made questionable decisions.

  • Only wish we could hear more from KM. Spellbinding musician.

  • Stunning. Sublime. Spectacular.

  • One of the greatest ARTISTs of all times!!

  • Man it sounds like OSI Free...KM has so much influence on that album....

  • KM is god, Chroma Key is so fuckin good.

  • Kevin Moore, wicked

  • Definitely one of the best songs ever.
