  • what size line and what is your preferred knot for fishing stripers?

  • We use 20 lb Power Pro braid with 30 lb mono leader. I attach the mono to braid using an Albright Knot and I use a Palomar Knot on the hook. This set up has worked nicely for years..

  • @tntrout - thanks for repolying. I just picked up a new Penn Fierce 5000 rod. I will be using 40 lb spiderwire braid.. I'm still debating whether or not to use a leader.. this rod will be exclusively used for fishing stripers. Relatives have been catching 30+ inches the last couple weeks.

What size leader line do you recommend?

  • @Unplugged704 ~ I use a 30 lb. mono leader on my braid. I use an albright knot to tie my leader to the braid. Recently I became aware of the Sebile Knot and may consider switching over to it. You can see how its tied by going to YouTube and seaching for "Sebile Knot", look for the video posted by Salty Shores. It does a pretty good job of showing how to tie that knot..
