  • This is a true legend! A TRUE class act!

  • Now that was just incredible!

  • whitney houston makes a better duet with natalie cole than with mariah carey. :P

  • this was a Dionne Classic, she recorded it first....now Whitney should know this....

  • This is what I call two great Divas holding their own whilst respecting and enjoying each others talent!

  • This makes me want to kill that punk ass Bobby for getting Whitney messed up on that shit. I almost forgot how good she was until I watched this.

  • Amazing. These two sung so beautifully!

  • Almost as great as when Dionne and Aretha did the duet for that song.

  • Two of my Favourite Artist on stage together is a dream come through, wow !

  • they make it look so easy!!! this is so relaxing!!! :D

  • INCREDIBLE PERFORMANCE OF THIS SONG......thank you very much ladies******

  • LOVE YOU! WHITNEY!!

  • can any1 tell me if natalie cole ever did "mary did u know". got some1 who is lookin for it

  • Whitney Houston And Natalie Cole Superb ..There Are Three Version..Diana King, Dionne Warwick ..For I Say I Little For You..

  • Was für zwei tolle Frauen, Himmel!

  • I Say A Little Pray Many Version..Dionne Warwick, Diana King, Whitney Houston & Natalie Cole..

  • (y)

  • all time diva!!...THE voice.....very talented..from philippines

  • i will always love you!!!...from philippines..simply the The VOice of the World..

  • Man - these two are so fantastically talented. They make today's singers seem like little kids pretending to be stars.

  • @TheSmithDorian Absolutely — there was a time when it took real and new talent to make something happen. What people forget is that this was all untrodden ground at the time (I've just watched Dionne W. from 1967). Ithink that 90%of what we hear (good and bad) is a rehash of the rreal creation/evolution happening from… whenever until the mid 90s. Anyway, I love these voices and this energy. So much more… enticing… than Lady Gaga etc… (I guess this is sacrilege, huh?)

  • @larrykazal

Not sacrilege - just telling it like it is. Before the 90's the music of each generation was measured against the ones before it. Then the style aspect of the music became more important than the music itself. With advances in recording technology you got a situation where artists that can't sing well or write or play music, can be hugely successful dancing to cover versions of 70's & 80's songs.

Lady Gaga is not as bad as that but musically she's a million miles behind these two.

  • That Note whitney Hit At 1:56 is Insaine

  • wonderful! a real DIVA!

  • sin palabras, simplemente lo máximo del canto no hay comentarios para algo tan excelente y perfecto. Definitivamente como blanco debo admitir que no cantamos así, nace con ellos es un don especial para nuestros queridos afrodescendientes

  • Damn.. They both SUNG this damn song!!..

  • What an immeasurable talent My Beautiful Black Sisters have been blessed with...I too am in awe, as well as equally proud of both of their timeless talents, and their commendable triumph over obstacles. May they forever reign as "Divas of Soul", along with Patti, Aretha, Gladys and Dionne.

  • GOOD !!!! GOOD !!!!!

  • We can only dream to hear this kind of singing these days !! Thank you Ladies !!

  • Great version but for the record Natalie Cole is wrong the original version was recorded by their Aunt Dionne Warwick-written by Burt Bacharach--far better than Arethra Franklin's excellent version s version in my humble opinion

    dr nigel 1964

  • @sacksn

Natalie wasn't wrong. She didn't say that it was originally recorded by Aretha, only that it was an "old Aretha Franklin classic", which it is. They sing the song in the call and response format that Aretha recorded in 1968, heavy on guitar as opposed to Warwick's faster 1967 original heavy on piano. I love Dionne's version and have it on the LP "Windows of the World", but I wouldn't say it is "far better" than Aretha's version. They are different, but equally essential.

  • U can tell they enjoyed singing this song together :) :) :)

  • To the person before saying this is Dionne song....negative....there's a video of aretha Franklin singing this song back in the 60s...Dionne pretty just did a remix to it...just wanted point that out there :) :) :)

  • @musicallytalented92 This song written by Burt Bacharach and Hal David for DIONNE WARWICK in 1967. Aretha covered it in 1968...so YES this is A Dionne Warwick Original.... thank you

  • Damn drugs! Man I miss this girl jamming. Natalie, what can I say? Just timeless!

  • Since Kid I Like Both Of The Singers. One Of My Favorite Singers.

    They Are Fantastic.

  • CHILLS.....................MOTHERFUCK

  • This is a great performance!

  • this goes down as the best female duet I've ever heard !!!! A STATE OF PERFECTION!!!! XOXOXO

  • It's so amazing that this song sounds so exciting and thrilling sung by two

    great divas.

Thank you very much. I enjoyed it a lot.

  • I say this song is for my new boyfriend... <3 you!

  • Whitney was the stone cold truth. Natalie [still] has a beautiful voice as well.

  • Her full name is Whitney Elizabeth Houston and my full name is Whitney Elizabeth Hoder I'm named after her!!! OMG!!!

  • Grande NATALIE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! My love :D

  • I just really love these two divas. Great perfomance! I miss Whitney now!

  • OMG!! The two Diva together. Classic!!!

  • OMG. YES. ALL OF THIS. YES

  • Ok! Whitney Houston.

  • absolutely amazing!

    +LoganTreble

  • GREAT!!!!

  • These women are fantastic :'D !!!! I would cry if I saw them live X'D !

  • Aretha Franklin classic??? That would be Dionne Warwick first!

  • @javarus80 & i think it's awkward that they would say it that way bcuz whitney & dionne are cousins, so you'd think she would know where it comes from.

  • @javarus80

You can't help but admit though that Aretha made it sound a whole lot better. And the instrumentation helped as well. Plus I liked the note the song was in. In an F sharp key or however it's considered. You know what I mean, right?

  • @lupinvash3

I love Aretha. I was just giving props to the original artist that recorded it and in my opinion, my favorite.....and yes, I do know what you mean (F sharp key) I wasn't a music major like many of friends but I get what you're saying.

  • @javarus80 just like 'I will always love u' is considered a Whitney classic...who wants to sing it again like Dolly Parton?

    but historically u r right

  • Simplesmente fantástico, elas são fabulosas. Ok ...she is fantastic. Congratulations!!!

  • Pena que o show da Natalie em BH custou 400 mangos... senão iria mesmo!

  • Now this is how to ruin a classic song.. over sing it.

  • Comment removed

  • ahh.. sweet voices.. stroll on over to my page

  • what year and show is this from?

  • As melhores !!!!!

  • You can tell here she was a different person... you can see it in her smile... so gracious...

  • shame . she USED to be loved by everybody...jerk--americans are always supporting drug addicts, homosexuals, losers in general..her voice was absolutely beautiful and no i don't support her dumb ass. however I will reminisce about tyhe good all days., nobody could hit those high notes like her.. and yes am mad at her, cause now i have to put up with Beypornce.

  • @nystar1881 Homosexuals are not losers. If your so blinkered into believing something as neandathol as that i'm surprised your even watching. Whitney was a beacon for equality to the black community paving the way through music to give so many different people a chance and a look in. How dare you come in here spouting hatred.

  • You selfish SOB. It's not about you. She is still loved by many. I dare you to have the gall to critisize Ms. Houston. She is a great singer and regardless of her mishaps she will make the biggest comeback ever. I can only hope that her comeback song make you weep for more....

  • @The777love777 Miss haps? haaa haaa she's a train wreck. so sorry you didn't get the memo but she's toast. it's so over for her, she sounds and looks like shit today.. perhaps thats because she's been ingesting shit into her system for the last 15+ years. what a loser she is.

  • That's tha true Soul Voice, that only Black women have, christina, joss, and others, they try, but they will never ever have it, because that 's genes baby, gotta have that black blood running through your blood. Even in Africa, there are black singers that throw their gospel down like this, it's in the blood! This is the real Soul Voice, and it can never be taken, imitated, but that's it. Lol same with Rhythm in dance, copied but the rhythm is in our blood. Just keepin' it real!

  • sorry... didn't mean to post so many times... it kept saying "error try again"

i'm new at this and am unsure how to remove it

  • this is actually a Dionne Warwick classic not Aretha Franklin

though she did cover the song and though this is a great collab. Dionne Warwick did it best

  • this is actually a Dionne Warwick classic not aretha franklin

though she did cover the song and though this is a great collab. Dionne Warwick did it best

  • it was not an Aretha Franklin classic-- it's originally a Dionne Warwick song---

that aside this is still a great collab.

  • is dat nich schön ??

  • Two of the greatest voices and personalities paired up - how great can it get???

  • the 60 people who disliked need prayer immediatly

  • wonderfull video nice job girls

  • wonderfull video puset.

  • Meravigliose...

  • Was für Stimmen !!!!!

  • SUPER !!!

  • would this classify as jazz?

  • You need 2 Divas or more, so maybe you can replace the QUEEN Aretha !!!!!!!

  • Does someone know at about which year this would have been? I am sure it is in the early 1990's, based on Whitney's attitude and hairstyle...

    Thank you! :)

  • @NOSAJ01

    Thank you! :)

  • Whitney is extraordinary!

  • Whitney at her finest and I love me my Natalie Cole! So wonderful!

  • there surely was an angel over the both of them that night

  • I love both of those Girls, but they both are probably as High as Glory....No Judgment cause it sounds great. They look both looked great too...

  • qlee brouqht me here -_-

  • only black people can sing like that ! they must have special music-genetics. and I am white.

  • Karen Clark Sheard would probably do the same growl 2:30 thats funny cause she sounds just like the Clark Sisters and them Detroit gospel singers lol

  • @kmaur21

1:51 to 1:58 is simply amazing. The skill that woman has; it just comes out effortlessly. I love her signature shaking of her hand!

  • 1:56 and beyond is all about Whitney honey lord she tore the mess out of this!

  • @kmaur21

I just saw this comment after my previous one. She sure did!!!

  • WAO!!!!

  • Whitney was amazing on this, but those background singers kinda suck.

  • @lemons82 2:29 Lord Whitney did Karen Clark Sheard and Twinkie growl like nothing, she took that too pentacoastal church, this woman can SANG just SANG!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • Great Voices love this performance!

  • @mzbabygirl32 I can't get over that Karen Clark Sheard like growl 2:30 Whitney been doing growls and runs like the Clark Sisters from the onset. Crazy!

  • @kmaur21 Yeah, I know right! Everybody be trying to do the Clark Runs/growls but I aint' mad at Whitney. If I could sing I would do it too. LOL

  • This was a wonderful performance. =)

  • Awesome. !!!

  • No matter what happened to Whitney remember that her influence on music was enormous and still her technique is unmatched. No woman can sing the way Whitney sings. We wait for her daughter. BTW Whitney is not finished. We support her on the bad days and not only the good

  • @andyzoi i'm soo agree with yoouu

  • beautiful voices.

  • whitney's voice is so hard to break

  • amen to that.. man.... thanks to Bobby Brown and some very bad choices, This gift that was God given was screwed up.... Kids, take a lesson from this.. DRUGS WILL SCREW UP YOUR LIFE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • back when whitney could still sing

  • Wow I really forgot the crazy things that Whitney used to do with her voice at her peak . Her voice was ridiculous, she was an outstanding soprano. That's why she's called the voice. Natali Cole voice so soothing and effortless. Great combo here

  • good, good, very good best singers in the world

  • everybody's talking about whitney's 2011 pre-grammy perform of this same song and saying how she can't sing and shouldn't cover aretha songs if she isn't going to do them justice. BITCH PLEASE! If people would just cast their eyes back to this performance, they see how she does this song more than justice- she makes it her own! Whitney THE VOICE Houton, ladies and gentlemen.

  • i absolutely adore this xxxx

  • The best version by rupert evert in My best friends wedding

  • holy shit. aretha, whitney, natalie each make this song godly in their own ways

  • they should rule the world! they are the best!

  • and I'll love you forever and ever ^^

  • Wow, I've never seen this. Two of the best (well, formally best) in the business. At least we have this video footage that will last forever. Holla Loo!

  • Two great singer! I love them!!!

  • oooo i love this ladies i dont care about their private life the are great singers this is important

  • sHUT UP YA DAFT PRESENTER I WANNAHEAR THE REPRISE

  • Its Dionne's classic not Aretha's!

  • @MrBCJ01 Both versions are classic. Aretha and Dionne did a duet many years ago where they combined their individual styles of this song and made the rendition work. But its true to say that this song was written specifically for Dionne, according to the composer, Burt Bacharach.

  • It's a shame Natalie called it "an old Aretha classic" when you considered that Whitney's Aunt Dionne had a hit with it before Aretha did.... -oops.

  • @emmettk It was Arethas arrangement of the song, which was also very popular.

  • @emmettk Dionne is Whitney's first cousin, not her aunt. Many people get that fact mixed up, even journalists who should know better and do their research.

  • this how true sistahs work a song....

    please stop the hating.

    just enjoy the experience.

  • al racismo de los blancos los negros siempre lo combatieron con talento... nadie puede igualar esta manera de cantar con el sentimiento

  • Sing Whitney!!

  • sniff , sniff too bad .!!

  • omg I love whitney houston....she's hotttt

  • I am so sad we dont have this kind of singers in this generation

  • amazing!

  • why i'm i thinking about wayne brady? lol

  • I'm sorry everybody, but I just have to say that Natalie definitely made a mistake. She should have said "an old Dionne Warwick classic". But, like somebody else stated earlier on, they all own this song in their respective ways. Damn, how Whitney could belt out a tune back then. What a waste of the greatest talent ever to be made by God. Whitney, I praise to you! You are still amazing and I believe that you will recover and grace us once again with your amazing vocals!

  • @SilverShadowMusic I think Natalie was refering to Aretha's version, which is also considered a classic. This is the Aretha Franklin arrangement. But it true, the song was written specifically for Dionne Warwick's voice, according to Burt Bacharach. Its testament to Aretha's talent that she can take a classic song and remake into something just as wonderful.

  • @bolder2009

Oh, yes. I completely agree with you. The thing is, I think that Aretha's version is a little better that Dionne's. After stating this, I know and agree with you at 100%. But, she did make a mistake, but nothing to get all crazy after. They're both awesome and powerful, and that's how they will stat, how they will remain. Pure soul, and African American vocals!

  • Ladies you are the best,God bless you and your voice !!

  • Whitney is sooo amazing. It is a sin that she has messed up her voice with cigarettes and drugs. It should actually be illegal for someone with her talent to be able to buy cigarettes. The same thing happened to Eddie Kendrick's voice. It's so sad.

  • @SteadiStick Amen her voice was so perfection but the cigarettes and drugs alter it for the worst. She can still sing but compared to this it just so sad how she didn't care enough about her gift to take of it.

  • Wasn't that a Dionne Warwick song first and then Aretha a year later? I love all Natalie and Whitney as well as Dionne and Aretha. All incomporable in their own ways. I would think Whitney would know it was Dionne's song first.

  • Great

  • WoW!!

  • black people are supreme! and I'm white:)))) this is also very good, but aretha... she IS supreme!

  • @artnikolapesic WOW!!! Thank you!!!

  • @artnikolapesic What a stupid thing to say and how does it make things better that you are white? So if I'm black and say that white people are supreme, how does that sound to you? How about asians, south americans etc?

  • @TheOneZatoichi You forgot the mixes. I got south american and white. Don't force me to chose one or the other. Hey there's also dutch and indian somewhere under that. Pure Bloods are only in Klan descendants or very strict homebodies with no exposure.

  • @Miracle490d No I didn't, that's what I meant about etc, you see I'm mixed too buddy.

  • wow

  • Man Why PPL Don't sing LIVE like this anymore?

  • Whitney ,eres enorme !! -Natalie , eres grande !! - Pero este tema nació para que lo pintara con su voz Aretha Franklin ....es así de simple, como una madre con su hijo ... no hay nada que lo remplace a uno del otro - Pd : son tres GRANDES !!!
