  • Pff... the comments... NO respect. Sorry but, Paul can't hear your bitching over his MULTIPLE SUCCESSES!

  • @Insertreplyhere whoever Paul Gilbert is, he should learn some reapect for the music. this couldn't be a lot worse, a display of crassness and cluelessness.

  • @jancivil You shouldn't judge a musician based on such a quick small amount of playing. "learn some "reapect" for the music." Do you mean 'respect'? Who are you to say that? You know absolutely nothing about him. Do some research before you open your ass.

  • @jancivil How come you're here and you never heard of him?

  • GUYS. stop it.

" i just dont like the fast-perpetual 32nd note runs..there is for me no breathing in the solo-s i agree with what one great classical composer said--"the real music is the space between the notes"

    These kinds of discussions are getting boring. I mean come on, every single guitar video has something similar to this in the comments. I'll try explaining;

Paul got famous in the 80's, buy playing FAST. no one would get famous by playing slow stuff with Racer X.

  • @RacerXFrenzy John Cage?

  • @RacerXFrenzy i think for guitarists- they are important...its like fire-- it burns because there are 3 elements- air ignition and fuel--guitar playing is like that- need many elements to create emotion--not just speed...anyone can play fast--i say this in the spirit of growth...not criticism-all that matters is that Paul enjoys his playing. everyone plays uniquely- thankfully or it would be boring- but always room for improvement even for a master like Gilbert.

  • I like Paul Gilbert a lot when he's playing rock music, but interpretations such as this one make a mockery out of the guitar. The piece is barely recognizable and anybody who has heard a good cellist play this piece will think this is a joke.

  • @alaricoffir You are an Idiot.....And you are definately not a Rock fan....

  • dont like.... just learned by heart notes, not really musical :(

  • It sounds horrible, i hate when virtuous guitarists think they can play everything. This piece has a lot of dynamics and he's just laughing of this masterpiece. My opinion if you don't like it wathever and i'm not saying he's bad just i don't like it

  • @ghlmoedo If you don't like it, then wtf are you doing watching it ? People are just f'n stupid.

  • @PRODIGYat43

    1. he is not playing it on a cello

2.he is paul gilbert. he can finish it or not.

  • @RacerXFrenzy 1. i have eyes

    2. I am prodigyat43 and i could finish it or not too...

    3. i am asking WHY he didnt finish it

    4. to me it lacks much , but hey its just my opinion-that it could have sounded better if he's such a great player...like slowing down --adding some feeling or soul ..and playing it not from the brain but from the heart.

    it was a good attempt....

  • @PRODIGYat43 this is a guitar clinic video. he just starts playing this, and tries to finish it asap to get to his actual song demonstrations or whatever he has to do. he plays this one at the end of his instructional video (intense rock 1) as well, watch it, it's kind of slower than this. watch?v=IQL_m-dDIUI

  • @RacerXFrenzy sure---i'll look it up--but im also a guitarist check out my little lick in my channel...i love steve more's playing and j becks because they instill so much flavour and feeling into their music...ive liked gilberts playing since he won guitar wars in the 80's but i just dont like the fast-perpetual 32nd note runs..there is for me no breathing in the solo-s i agree with what one great classical composer said--"the real music is the space between the notes"

  • @PRODIGYat43 you suck.........

  • @PRODIGYat43 I understand what your saying about this piece, not knowing this guitarist and his true abilities...trust me, this dude plays from heart. You should check some of his other stuff out if your a real fan of all instruments

  • @PRODIGYat43 I'm a cellist, and I know for a fact that this wouldn't sound half as awesome if he tried adding "some feeling or soul." Besides, he does add a couple things here and there.

  • @PRODIGYat43 these shredders do play with soul. its just these slow fucken players who make this excuse just because they cant play like that. im sorry but its true. you play with soul your own style, you dont have to go slow man.

  • @PRODIGYat43 People express "feeling" in different ways. When people comment on modern guitar virtuoso videos like Paul's and assume they're not playing with feeling, it irritates me. Just because somebody doesn't play slow or the way you like, does not mean they lack feeling. Just my 2 cents.

  • @PRODIGYat43 i understand what u mean about him slowing down & playing it with "feeling" but he only played it like this cus its a clinic which means he had to hurry & get it done. look at the video entitled "Paul Gilbert's Baroque ending from Intense". He plays the same piece but its probably more to ur liking...

  • @shredderSupreme91 I just listened to the peice above you mentioned- the following is only my opinion: he didnt do the complete peice which is a shame because there is a fast section full of arpeggios that would suit his neo-classical style. not sure why he didnt play that section. and secondly he played it staccato through the whole piece- i would have liked it better with a mixture of staccato and lagato playing. third--i still didnt feel it...no question he is great player

  • @PRODIGYat43 nobody cares how you like it.. it's how Paul Gilbert likes it. He has the guitar.. =P

  • Why he doesn't play it clean? It woud sound much better

  • i wish his tone didn't suck.

  • need... tabs... NOW... Awesome playing.

  • @hallio111 cool story bro

  • @hallio111 cry about puss

  • @reapertcm not really... the americans just don't know shit about the world , I guess. and especially if youre a musician, you should really know how to pronounce BACH, no offence to paul gilbert.

  • @hallio111 look, I speak german too, but not everyone is supposed to know everything. maybe he just can't pronounce it. like the letter Ö. you can't expect an american person to pronounce the letter ö perfectly, google the letter Ğ and see if you can say it right.

  • @hallio111 What an idealistic racist. Respect accents and pronunciations. Every nation has difficulty in pronouncing some words/names in other nations. Do you not try to tell me that you can pronounce every word in every language right. But, if you can do so, you are very much entitled to speak in that manner towards others' pronunciation.

  • @OrdinaryCritic hey cool comment, but seriously why do people like you see so much hate or even racism in my comment`? cause bach was german and I am german too? I don't think in barriers like some people do, no matter if someone is black or white .or from US or whatever. maybe you do? can't Imagine how you could see any racism in my comment otherwise. And I did not hate on anybody.

what a person are you that you can see so much hate in my comment?

  • @OrdinaryCritic and it's not about being able to pronounce every word in every language right, but paul is a guy that is known for his amazing music theory knowledge, so this is his speciality. so he maybe could know how to pronounce bach right, next thing is, don't take everything so serious what you read on yt. and don't misinterpret hate in a harmless comment like mine.

  • @hallio111 or.... maybe he doesn't give a shit.. I'm sure there are plenty of things you can't pronounce correctly, dumb-ass.

  • @hallio111 u mad bro?

  • @SergeyEremeev of course not, I just wrote that I can not belive that PAUL can't pronounce it well.. not mad at all. I love paul.

  • @hallio111 and talking seriously... the first thing musician has to do is to be able to compose music, and i think Gilbert is awesome at this, his technique is awesome, his theory knowledge is awesome... but somehow not pronouncing Bach correctly makes him a bad musician now? u broke my heart((

  • @SergeyEremeev wtf? I said " not even paul can pronounce it right "... why do you think I wrote it like that? I also mentioned that not even a guitarplayer with a outstanding good technique like him knows his name right.

basicly I compared him to Bach because Paul is a fuckin great musician... how could you see in my comment that I think he sucks?

  • @hallio111 Did you listen to him play? I don't think the pronunciation matters.

  • @hallio111 hahahahahaha

  • Isnt that neck scalloped?

  • @Nevigo it is.

  • @RacerXFrenzy what do you mean by scalloped?

  • @superjokerrr

It means that you remove some of the wood between the frets.Try to look at Malmsteens Stratocasters, almost all of them are scalloped. The reason people do it,is to get a real firm grip around the string so you can bend it or manipulate it easier.

  • @Nevigo i see . Thanks

  • @Nevigo what do you mean by scalloped?

  • Tone.

  • Fantastic piece of music... Love how he plays it too... but people who know Bach will know that Paul's version is incomplete. I've never heard him play the actual ending??? The real ending that is played on Cello consists of some extremely fast runs and arpeggios - I'm sure he could play it but how come he doesn't?

  • what pickups is he using?

  • @PGBUCKETHEAD not sure. could be PAF pro's.

  • @PGBUCKETHEAD propably tone zone in the bridge and two paf pro's

  • @mitosinuca yeah i think the bridge is a tone zone because of its heavy bass and gain

  • @PGBUCKETHEAD ToneZone by DiMarzio

  • @PGBUCKETHEAD neck dimarzio pafpro bridge dimarzio super distortion dp100

  • the greatest alternate picker in the universe !!!! he should make a whole album with bach's work men that would be epicness !!! I can't believe I actually met him and played with him backstage

  • @SLee1337 yeah bro you know it!

  • @RacerXFrenzy Oh shit you mother fucker, your right i was thinking run to the hills for some reason!

  • ima learn this asap! btw paul gilbert is god! =D

  • it kinda sounds like hes runnin thru a vox saturator. id like to know

  • @FallenInByohazard A/DA MP-1 w/chorus thru an ampeg v4 bass head. of course he has some other rack units, but I don't think he's using anything else since the mp1 has chorus

  • @FallenInByohazard the saturator didn't exist at this point

  • @FallenInByohazard It couldnt be a saturator because those were not released untill like 2 or 3 years ago.. and this was filmed in the 80s or early 90s probably

  • fortunetelly his tone has improved over the years

  • he's guitar seams scalloped ???

  • @yademokitu it is.

  • @RacerXFrenzy hahaha =P

He is indeed a real guitar master.

  • @groscaca69

He is Paul F*king Gilbert. Your argument is invalid.

  • scalloped neck? neat!

  • Paul <333333333

  • it's an ampeg v4 head, he's using his ada rack

  • I LOVE YOU FOR POSTING THIS!!!! lost my copy of intense rock 1 years ago before i got to work it out, and i could only remember the first few bars. can i mail you for the tab? love, peace & hair grease.

  • can you mail me with the request please? thanks

  • the start is close to the riff from the number of the beast..

  • anyone have tabs for this??

  • mail me with your request. I'll hook you up

  • great

  • he used this in one of is old column in guitar player, i was seeying this and thinking "i have plays this, is so weird" jajajajaja

  • @NamretliF

Yes, it was a column in Guitar Player he had for a short time and this was in 2 parts/issues called "Ears and Ayeees" or something like that. You can actually find the tablature for it on Ultimate Guitar but so far no one has tabbed it as Paul printed it. Maybe someday I will edit it and post one as I always found the fingering positions easier the way Paul tabbed it out. Yes, I still remember it too and love playing it but I must agree that it sounds better on a clean channel.

  • 10/10, awesome

  • which cello suite is that? he normally only does no. 3 courante

  • Prelude to the 6th

  • oh, shit i didnt even read the description. thank you anyways

  • Comment removed

  • no, the neck is completely scalloped.

  • my mistake

  • WOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOW!!!!!!!

  • cool

    I was there

  • You were there .. in 1989 .. whoa man .. awesome !!!

  • scalloped frets???

  • yep.

  • doesn't look like it.

  • well, it is. later in the Q&A period he says that it is scalloped

  • does he say why? cuz It's not like him to play scalloped necks

  • to be able to have easy vibrato ability. he uses real skinny and tall frets right now. basically same thing with scalloping. having your fingers away from the fingerboard wood to reduce friction during vibrato.

  • Oh I see, He's got awesome vibrato. pretty much the best player out there
