@Clydeboy2k8 Listened to 'em.... meh.... Please accept that my taste in music differs from yours and we will all go home happy. I just happen to like Quilty more. End of story. I like that you like The Dubliners! :D
I don't know who sings this song, but it's the best version I've ever heard. I saw that some comments say it's by Quilty, but I looked it up and found nothing.
@51wins Oh really? That's funny because the album it's in is called "IRISH Heartbeat" Anyway, Ulster isn't British, just some of the people here are. Also three counties in Ulster are infact part of the Republic so don't refer to Northern Ireland as Ulster. Ulster will always be an Irish province of Ireland no matter what the Brits say. ;)
dont really want to get into a debabte, but you must be from the Republic becuase people in Northern Ireland call Ulster just the 6 counties, even though in Old Ireland it included 3 that are now part of Ireland. Thats why u have Ulster TV and BBC Ulster etc.
Back to the song Its a Belfast song therefore - British. One of the most known and liked songs yet its not even Ireland ;)
@51wins No, actually I'm from Northern Ireland, near Ballymena. I don't called Northern Ireland Ulster. I call it the North of Ireland like most nationalist. "Old Ireland”? The term Ulster is still used to refer to the entire province of Ulster in sports, for example Ulster Championships. People compete from all nine Ulster counties.
And no matter how much you don't want to admit it, you live on the Island of Ireland in the Irish province of Ulster. Look up "Ireland" in Wikipedia.
@51wins You have "Ulster TV" etc. Because thick headed Unionists didn't want to call Northern Ireland by it's proper name. "Ulster says no" LOL Erm... I doubt people in Donegal say no to them being part of the Republic. Ian Paisley wasn't very good a geography, was he?
Belfast isn't British; it was set up by the Irish, like most of the towns and cities in Northern Ireland. The British just moved in. Craigavon was probably the only one set up by the British.
@Skyifictionable you just proved my point, Northern Ireland is often called Ulster....lol.
As for towns being set up by Irish, they werent called Irish back then when the towns were set up they were celtic peoples anyway we wont get into that, becuase it makes no difference we are talking about today and Belfast is British the entire Northern Ireland is British end of story...im not going to comment again cause i cant be assed with a debate with no outcome
@51wins Yes, NI is often called Ulster my Unionists who don't know their geography. Like yourself obviously.
You're an idiot.. They were Irish people. The Celtic people in Ireland then, were Irish Celts. I am a descendant of those Irish Celts who built the towns in Ireland. Celtic is just a word to refer to people who speak a Celtic language which includes Welsh, Cornish, Scottish, Irish, Scots and a few others. It's like British - It includes Scottish, Welsh and English.
@51wins Belfast isn't British; it was set up by Irishmen. NI isn't British it was set up by Irishmen. It's just been trampled on by dirty British feet, like yourself. I guess
@Foolishk1ng Well, Hello to you too. I'm used to the crap you "huns" give me and my people. So I'll ignore it.
Anywho, using Wikipedia to try and prove me wrong was just stupid. Irish settlements were present in the area which is now Dublin well before the Norse, as you call them, started ruling.
@Skyifictionable learn ur history english men came and took a part of ireland and named it ulster not northen irland ulster the plantation of ustler not northen irland
@1ninjakiller1Learn my history? You need to learn your English. "Irland"? It's Ireland. The British didn't name NI anything until 1922 when they named it Northern Ireland.
The Term "Plantation of Ulster" was used to refer to British (mostly Scottish) people moving over to Ireland and settling there.
Considering its about Belfast and also played by Loyalist Flute bands I'd say its a Northern Ireland song...played and loved by people from both sides of the community!
@ranger12116 No no, there is no official title unless you think about the Golden City. Irish people have Dublin City, english or scottish people have Belfast, or some other city name, its not that its wrong there is just different version.
hey thanks for putting this one up, its definitly the best. who sang this song? and do you know of anyother people who sing it? I heard the rankin family sing it... would I be able to download it off of limewire?

I'll tell me ma when I go home
The boys won't leave the girls alone
They pull my hair & stole my comb
But that's all right till I get home
(chorus)
She is handsome, she is pretty
She is the belle of Dublin city
She is courting one, two, three
Please, won't you tell me, who is she?
