What probably happened after the "accordion" answer was they wrapped the show up before they got to the bonus round. They all changed clothes and came back an hour or two later to shoot the next show. It was the same contestant she defeated to get to the bonus round. Elaine Joyce is on the bottom row as she hosted The Dating Game in the 80s. The one with the huge red hair I believe was Murray's wife on Mary Tyler Moore.

Not only the best game show of all time, but one of the best shows period. I DVR it every day and it's of the highlights of each day. Of course, I love it when Brett and CNR bantered back and forth. Always classic when Gene would make fun of a contestants answers. No game shows today can come close to Match Game.

I don't know the exact year of this episode, but I was 10 years old in 1977 and had been watching this for a few years. Even though I didn't "get" the sexual puns in the questions at the time, I remember it just as you see it here. A very relaxed, fun show that when you look back at the 70's, was completely in perfect form. Tattle Tales had some of this magic too, but for my money, the 70's Match Game will always be the best game show EVER!

The way the game works is the statement is said and the celebrities write down their answers. Then the contestant is asked what he/she would put in the blank. And if the contestant's answer matches any of the celebrities answers, they get as many points as matched. So if she had said jock, she would have got 3 points since 3 of the contestants said jock. if she had said a racket, she would have gotten 2 points since two of the celebrities said it. Whoever gets 6 first wins if i remember rit

No, you're not getting this, there is no "answer" as you seem to be thinking of it. You give an answer. The celebrities give an answer. You win points when you and a celebrity have the same answer. There's no "correct" answer for a question on this show.

What was so awesome about Match Game is that when there was a screw up (and there were several of them) that the producer just let it air as it is with no edits. That proves that the show and people are real. I have the Best of MG Dvd collection and am on Disc 3. Love it!

The wonder is that you can see that everybody had changed clothes between segments. This shows that this woman had won at least one game and lived to play for another taping. Not that it's a bad thing, this makes for magic TV!

I also liked how MG never indulged their contestants; if they made a godawful response they would let 'em have it. Contrast this to the cringy Family Feud where even the dumbest of responses was given effusive applause.
