Beautiful.! His voice sounds so pure..... Rammstein has helped me learn some german.. Im now obsessed with anything german, the culture and obviously anything rammstein.
The first time I listened this song I didn't understand a word but I could feel the sorrow and the despair emanatinf from this song. (Sorry for my english I'm french)
I think this song isabout a man that's in love with a girl which he really adores. But he finds out she's cheating on him and in his rage he kills her. There's a lot of screaming and crying going on but nobody sees the pain he's in. He tries to forget what happened but when he opens the door in the beginning, all these memories and emotions are slowly comming back. I think these lyrics are just brilliant
@sushi998 I believe it is about a man who marries a woman, but learns she cheats on him, he then locks her in a room with nothing but a piano. He waits for her death, and confesses to her parents. Obviously the parent beat him to death as well. His final thoughts were of the song his dead wife played.
@Dielandvermessen The impression I got was playing the piano together is both literal and a metaphor for sex. She cheated on him (1:31), he killed her for it (1:39) and hid her body in the music room. Then he locked it up and hid the key because, aside from being caught if anyone else opened the door, he also thought of it as burying her with the piano.
i love this song im actually learning german cause i love rammstein so much and i want to be able to understand all their songs without coming on here and looking at the english translations.. but this song is fuckin sweet
@Dielandvermessen thats not all... he thinks that she was unfaithful. He killed her in rage, then he closed the door so noone would find her. look at the second verse, beginning at 1:20.
@Nimnication Hmm...Though i find this an interesting addition to the song, i do however enjoy the thought of her being forced to play til she died, without food and water and such. But the end of the song i find is the most haunting and beautiful, in that, he still believes he can hear her playing.
This is so fucking good song...make me sad everytime i listen to her...just love it... remind me on old day...i remember them with bottle of old vine...
@cowgod12 i like em but but i know its out of the genre for example most of the people is heavy metal and dont like a synthetising thing in music thats why
@KarnevalDeathCode Yeh you might say "Mutter" is best cos of Sonne and then you remember Klavier and remember that "Sehnsucit" is also epic that must be the best. Then you remember Mogernstern and Mien Teil and so you think "Riese Riese" must the best. And then you go back to "Mutter" or go onto "Liebe ist fur Alle Da" which also has some great songs. Even "Rosenrot" has some good'uns and ofcourse there is always "Herzeleid". There is just no way to decide... and that is why Rammstein is my fave
@KarnevalDeathCode I mean it's Rammstein at their best. Like i said weeks ago on this page, all of Rammstein is brilliant, but Sonne Rammstein at their absolute trully unrivaled best!
i am torn apart between this song and Sonne, can not decide which is better. but then there is mogerstern and stein um stein and seeman and mehr.. and so on.. so best thing to do? Don't even attempt to choose a favourite Rammstein song.
@ENTERSHIKARIJUSTIN Reason Klavier is in my top 10 is what I think is a perfect blend of 'soft' rammstein with 'heavy' Rammstein. i know what you mean but I think it's a good thing. This is one of Till's best performances for me.
I speak German and English, and thus needed neither the pictures, nor the translation, but still found the images rather frustrating. Just my opinion. I'm sure I'll receive some immature, vulgar reply in return.
@ArcticFox72 It's called listening to music. I can't help it if my computer happens to be at the fore-front of my studio work space, thus forcing me to see what it on the screen if, god forbid, I happen to look up at it.
I think the last lines "Als mein spiel begann, hielt sie den Atem an" is his imagination of her still there listening to him play because she was already dead.
I think the last lines "Als mein spiel begann, hielt sie den Atem an" is his imagination of her still there listening to him play because she was already dead.
I think the last lines "Wenn mein spiel begann, hielt ihr den Atem an" is his imagination of her still there listening to him play because she was already dead.
I think the last lines "Wenn mein spiel begann, heilt ihr den Atem an" is his imagination of her still there listening to him play because she was already dead.
@drhycodan I always interpreted those lines as when his playing began, or whatever he was doing to kill her, is when she held her breath, or, in other words, died.
Just one of the money brilliant play on words from Till.
@speckyprick actually it is much more fundamental: As Judas Priest declares *LOVE BITES* I inflict a surgical soul wound on the woman. Her heart remembers a distant song she has always known and always adored when once again I pang her soul with this ETERNAL MUSIC. And as a baby who cried upon recognizing her mother after a long absence she is brought to tears upon remembrance of the spectacular glory of it ALL.
@EshkaronsEngine She was bent over the piano being cocked whilst you used your surgical hands to play a Judas Priest song on the piano, using skills to avoid songs that use the keys where her head is placed while you pang her child and the mother from behind bringing her to tears whilst biting her?? You sick fuck lol.
Not knocking the translation but why would the first line be they say to me, not she says to me. every other translation i found says the same but who are they. i know who she is.
Hey everybody! I just released my solo album "Mirror Image" that contains electronic upbeat and ambient songs heavily inspired by the music of Rammstein. If you're interested you can check out the songs on my youtube page, and links to my myspace page and places to download the full album are on my youtube channel as well :) .
And Richard Kruspe is one of the coolest guitarists out there. All members of Rammstein are awesome and extremely talented!
The meaning is quite obvious, maybe it got a bit lost in translation: At the beginning the parents of his girlfriend/wife come and demand to know where she is, he then remembers how he meet her at a performance and was awestruck by it and her. They fall in love, but latter he finds out that she is cheating on him so he kills her and locks her into the piano room. The song then goes to the first scene where he unlocks the door for her parents and they something that horrifies them (her body.)
@Thewbeverton1@modjaffamodjaffa wtf is with u retards raging and flaming him D: ? he just pointed that out and he didn't want to insult him...JESUS CHRIST !
@KingPiccolOwned From what i got out of the english translations is when he was a kid his mother would play the piano and he would just listen to her full of joy but then she stopped playing and his father and mother were fighting and his father even beat his mother so he learned to play the piano so that he could make her smile once more and when he finally played for her it was all that he hoped for but thats just my take on the lyrics
I usualy get the meaning of rammsteins songs pretty esaly but this one i cant realy get im being obliviouse hahahaha in a sorta way but idk whay do u people think i just tgink it has something ti do with tills sister or something cuz he had or idk has a sister younger than him his father was an abusive man and his mom in the song says that fauther is beatinf her so idk im just stuck hahaha can someone give me their opinion
@RammsteinLover123 is it possible that the songs meaning is that things aren't the same as it used to, over time things change?? hmmm im pretty confused too...
@RammsteinLover123 it is about a dude and his girlfriend/fiance/wife or so.
She betrayed him "doch es hatte nur den Schein, sie spielt für mich allein" , so he killed her and locked her in a room "Sie sagen zu mir, schless auf diese Tür / hinter dieser Tür steht ein Klavier, die Tasten sind staubig, die Saiten sind verstimmt...ach das ist so lang her". Later his parents dicover his secret "Geöffnet ist die Tür, ei wie sie schrein, ich höhr die Mutter flehn der Vater schlägt auf mich ein"
@RammsteinLover123 I think that it's about a young man who is a bit insane, and he kidnaps a girl because he likes it when she plays the piano, and he locks her in a room that only he can get in and out of. He neglects her and she dies at the piano. He gets asked where she is by the girl's parents, who might be his own, and he doesn't say. His parents find her corpse, his mother is horrified and confused at what her son has done, while his father beats him.
@alecvdpoel It wasn't interesting, especially in a video giving lyrics about a song, that isn't even sang in English! But representation of a lyrical video.
I agree, the pictures just seem patronizing. If they had more to do with the song, rather than just pictures of words that came up, it would be understandable.
@Sirdrake203 Well then fast forward the chorus. We don't care if you like it or not, most of us love it. Judging by the way you type, I know you're a little teenage boy so you probably don't much about music yet.
@whipid I didn't say he knew NOTHING about music I said he didn't know much. Typing the way he does is how kids type, just shows me he's young. Him, along with yourself, like music for sound, awesome, it's music it sounds great. I, on the other hand, am a deep-listener. I love every aspect of the sound, enjoying how the drums are going with the singing, how the bass affects the keyboard, etc. I simply analyze it more.

@Shadowfyre100
I'm not so sure the metaphor is so easy.
Last lyrics are "there at the piano SHE listened to me and when MY performance begun she held her breath".
It's quite symbolic.

JJnnaatt 1 year ago
@JJnnaatt Sorry for trying to make it more interesting than the usual boring one picture videos, haha.
alecvdpoel 1 year ago 120
@alecvdpoel It wasn't interesting, especially in a video giving lyrics about a song, that isn't even sang in English! But representation of a lyrical video.

@alecvdpoel Nice pic ^^

@alecvdpoel
I agree, the pictures just seem patronizing. If they had more to do with the song, rather than just pictures of words that came up, it would be understandable.

MrMonkeyjump 1 year ago
i love rammstein too but thiz chorus relly duz suck
Sirdrake203 1 year ago
@Sirdrake203 Well then fast forward the chorus. We don't care if you like it or not, most of us love it. Judging by the way you type, I know you're a little teenage boy so you probably don't much about music yet.
Glennbar93 1 year ago
@Glennbar93 so your saying that since he spelled stuff wrong and doesn't like ONE part of a song, he knows nothing about music? tell me if im wrong.
whipid 1 year ago
@whipid I didn't say he knew NOTHING about music I said he didn't know much. Typing the way he does is how kids type, just shows me he's young. Him, along with yourself, like music for sound, awesome, it's music it sounds great. I, on the other hand, am a deep-listener. I love every aspect of the sound, enjoying how the drums are going with the singing, how the bass affects the keyboard, etc. I simply analyze it more.
Glennbar93 1 year ago
@Glennbar93 ok. thank you for clarifying.
whipid 1 year ago
good song but the chorus sucks. like bad. and I love rammstein so dont judge me.
