"CLUES THE POLICE FIND"--I believe that subject was used in the new $25,000 pyramid and it was the top one. Unfortunately the contestant couldn't get it in that version because the judges was really constrictive on that subject from what I saw.
Soupy doesn't go at the right place; he was slow at the begining of the tie-breaker and gave clues that didn't help real fast at the end; you need to have a fast pace but not to fast. Adeine I would consider to be the best of the worst today; because she at least made it to the bonus round. I would say she did not get the 4th subject; I may sound like an Osmond Pyramid judge here but her last guess was not specific enough to be called correct. They started strong but fumble toward the end.
The thing that was really bad about the Osmond Pyramid's judges is they ruled that in order for a category to be accepted, the clue receiver had to say it word for word. Many times on that version, the clue receiver said the essence of the category, but not the entire thing, and it didn't count. Had the receiver sat in the winner's circle in the previous versions, it would have counted. Don't forms of the essence count in the Clark and possibly Davidson-hosted versions?
@SP84Fanatic Much of the problems with "Pyramid" came from the fact that not one member of the production staff had anything to do with Bob Stewart's earlier incarnations. It's new owner, Sony (the evil empire) really laid an egg with "Pyramid" from the 6-in-20 seconds to the cheap desks with VAIO laptops and small pyramid where every category had a long title in a bland attempt to be funny. The set looked like "Who Wants to Be a Pyramid." If it was't broke, why did Sony fix it?

For that fourth one, you think they would've accepted "a smoking gun"?

That might have been the definitive clue.

I think that the essence of the word would be CLUE, which she never said. I would not have given her the $100 answer.
