The ER doctor couldn't assess whether my hand was broken and wanted to send me home without giving me an xray. But I knew I broke it, b/c something shifted in my hand, and extreeme pain and swelling followed.
The xray confirmed what I already knew.
When my sister had a life-threatening emergency, the paramedics talked to her a lot so she'd stay calm.
When I had a severe allergic reaction, the paramedic tried to calm me by talking to me.
Don't they tell you to talk to patients in these demos?
In the field yes we do talk to our PT's. this practical is to make sure that the EMT knows all of his skills and can pass the practical exam. In the field we do a lot more of interaction with the PT. if the pt will benefit from their hand being held we'll hold their hand, which i have had to do to help calm a PT in the field.
The paramedic talked to me even though I could no longer tell him what was wrong. I was afraid he wasn't going to know that I couldn't talk.
I had a rash, my mouth was numb and I was having trouble breathing; but I could talk when they first got there.
I'm just glad he figured out without my help that something had gone really wrong, b/c it didn't take long for me to go from not talking to not breathing at all to passing out.
It was the scariest thing that ever happened to me.
Do they do the practical testing while you are doing the National Registry?

Two boards are suffice.
Hmm. Its crazy how things change according to where you live. You would think "national" registry would be the same.

this skill actually demonstrates splinting a long bone, not a joint. Otherwise, an adequate demo.
