Clapton is good but he will never be on the level of Muddy Waters and Robert Johnson. He is more like their son who they would be proud to see playing to day. Waters and Johnson started it all. If not for them there would be no Clapton or Dylan.

The two you mentioned were also influenced by earlier music, and so it goes, all the way back to.... I don't know, the first guy ever to bang a stone on someone's head with a steady beat? Nobody ever creates anything new and unique. It's all just different influences, and the first ones to get famous by mixing something new and unlikely, is often labelled a genious.

Robert Jonson was the greatest he inspired Eric Clapton, Robert Cray and Stevie Ray Vaughn along with many others! I had his 4 boxed tape set (remember those! :) His copy of his birth certificate was included and said died by jealous husband who killed him in a bar when he saw him with his wife

@cavo505 He looks very stiff and at times seems to loose the beat.  Also, he bangs incessantly on that cowbell which seems totally inappropriate to a blues number. The beat is the Bo Didley signature beat which he used time and time again. Clapton has adopted it here to the Robert Johnson tune very immaginatively. Overall, I like the performance, but the drummer and bass could have been better. John
