She must have thought her career was over when Gram died, but she's gone on to become a country music legend. I'm sure Gram would be very proud of her.
When I have bought a new stereo, since 1977, I have taken this song to the store to be sure the system has enough power, so that I can enjoy this song to the fullest.
What a lovely version of this absolutely beautiful song, listened to it a few times and gets better every time. Emmylou must have loved the great Gram Parsons so much to write such a moving song as a tribute to him. She was devastated after he died but she's never forgotten him or what he did for her. Take my hat off to this wonderful lady!!

Emmylou, dear, I can tell this song has exhausted you and depleted your soul. I hear and watch you can barely form the words. Take some rest time and laugh. You keep us going with your soulful voice, but this particular time, It is evident you need a rest. Love and blessings to you. Please read my comment at the Hollies.
I love Emmy, but she only co-wrote this song with a guy called Bill Danoff, who helped write take me home country roads with john denver and is a fine songwriter in his own right. He too is excellent at Boulder To Birmingham Thanks for the video
Emmylou grows more beautiful with every year that passes.
I have always loved her, and her voice, and the wonderful songs written by her.

I heard Emmylou sing this at the Exit-In in 1976 (Nashville). She's as beautiful a voice now as then. Truly a gift from God.

Wow!! 32 years after recording it she sings it with more pathos. She does get better with age. Thanks.
