  • Why was this lost? of all the Troughton storys WHY THIS ONE! I sure hope some film Archive has all the missing episodes tucked away somewere waiting to be found... because lets face it telesnap reconstructions can never recapture the wonderfulness this story provided many young kids back in the 60s I mean hell I'd go as far to say this is far better than any of the Dalek storys on TV nowadays it's such a shame....

  • back when the daleks weren't raped by moffat and gattis

  • Comment removed

  • Don't you just hate it when you just walk down the street then all of a sudden you just blow up

  • Whenever I hear this I think "f*ck the BBC".

  • We can't have the daleks being put out to pasture like it's been suggested recently. The last time they did this was over 40 years ago, when Patrick Troughton regenerated into Jon Pertwee, Despite the new doctor, the viewing figures fell dramatically and it's almost certain they will again. So let's have the Daleks back soon and with a story similar to this one, that should get the figures rising again.

  • a good but not great story.

  • @sebbrown1 Really some people consider it the best Dr who story ever whats yours?

  • The Daleks would return in 1972's Day of The Daleks, in colour!

  • @JHollowayNetwork albeit only three of them. lets hope the special edition of the story is good.

  • awesome.

  • look at 0:58 anyone else see the spots????

  • last part is funny a dalek going along and boom it dies

  • i wish they would redue this like the old school

  • jez i only wish they had tape recorders in the 60s. Dad would of recorded them and then the bbc wouldnt have lost so much :(

  • What was that gunk in the top of the Dalek who's dome was blown off?

  • @bradhig it was the kalid inside, the daleks are mutants encased in a battle shell.

  • you can download this episode off of isohunt but it sucks because only one part works

  • I suppose we should consider ourselves lucky, this is a cool scene to have survived. I really like this version of the emperor Dalek, and his personal guards, to me this was the best dalek story, a dalek story exactly the way it should be.

  • y r they fighting each other

  • : )

  • The doctor started a war, between the both groups of daleks

  • 1:12 I lol'd so hard I think i broke a rib.

  • Yeah. The Sound is how it is meant to be, though?

I was going to say, it's a pity Pat isn't around to give his memories of the episode. It could give us vital info onto how various scenes were played out, etc.

  • is that a fact?

I always thought that these scenes were a bit off, not how I always imagined it being. So are these made from different recordings?

  • they should remake this story next year

  • shame this story's missing, would have loved to see it!!!

  • I'll be honest, this is actually quite dark, this makes me even feel the suspense of The Daleks.

  • I know in actual chronology, this pre-dates Remembrance of The Daleks (McCoy) by about twenty years, but where does this fit in with Remembrance? I heard it's after...

  • I don't think anybody really knows. There was a line cut from "Day of the Daleks" (the next Dalek story after "Evil") which said that the humanised Daleks lost this civil war, but like I said it was cut. The novel "War of the Daleks" MIGHT (that's a big might: the reason I say it is because I read on a website that the Dalek Prime in "War" seems to be before its appearance in "Evil", which confuses me as AFAIK there is no Prime in "Evil) take place before "Evil", and "War" is after "Remembrance"

  • I would asssume this to be happening at the same time as Revelation, and the prison ship carrying Davros may have arrived just after the destruction of the Dalek city.

  • An interesting theory. But pray tell, why do you think that?

It would make sense as to why Davros becomes Emperor in place of the dead one... The grey Daleks rebel as Davros rises to power after the Davros tapes... Then the Daleks go to war, and end up in 60's London...

  • The way I figured it out is this: the crew of the prison ship would be ambushed by a few remaining humanised Daleks, which would then be wiped out by Davros' Daleks from Necros. Davros And his Daleks would then waste no time rebuilding the city, after which Davros would deem himself the new Emperor. In the meantime, several colonies of Daleks would receive the news of the events, and combine their recources to strike back against Davros, thus setting the scene for 'Remembrance'.

  • But it is already accepted that the Davros tapes (which show Daleks holding Davros on trial on Skaro) takes place straight after Revelation. They end up asking him where they went wrong and why they are defeated, which, unless the Humanised Daleks ambush the grey Daleks and your theory extends from that, could completely disprove your theory. It is however, very interesting, and rather clever.

Wow, 4 Dalek factions about the universe...

  • pity no nowerdays can watch the full story because of those bbc bastaerds

  • Well, while I agree with the sentiment, I don't think it's entirely their fault. Honestly, the BBC was running out of storage space and storage tapes - and the tape they used was incredibly expensive at the time. The tape-wiping was done all before the advent of VHS as well, so it's not like they knew that this would be happening.

I would love to have the full and original episodes, but I feel more sorry for those other BBC shows that were utterly wiped completely instead.

  • That is soooo dark and so much better than the very latest, glossy daleks with souls rubbish.

The music, the sounds and the Dalek industria makes this an awesome scene.

Old School Pre-Pertwee Doctor Who ftw!

  • this is from tomb of the cybermen dvd

  • MASS CHAOS!!!!! ....of dalekness. lol! XD

  • If only this were rediscovered. After Marco Polo this is probably the one I would like to see most

  • This was made in 1967. The next dalek story was Jon Pertwees Day of the Daleks made in 1972. I'm surprised people could live that long without Daleks

  • Was there not almost as long a time between Genesis of the Daleks and Destiny of the Daleks? Strange that both periods are considered the best in the show's history, maybe daleks lose their impact if they are used too much, like in the new show...

  • this may sound like a stupid question, but who are the daleks fighting?

  • They are fighting each other - the doctor turned them on each other & rebel daleks ended up destroying the dalek emperor.

  • not quite, the flashing light inside the emperor was meant to imply he was badly wounded, probably near death, but alive, because the head of drama warned producers against destroying the daleks this hopelessly.

  • hopelessly - i meant with no way out, that sounded weird lol.

  • I know...I should rename it, but it does work well... :)

  • great scene. the new series could learn a lot from this sort of stuff

  • i hear you brother.

  • wher did you get this?

  • Don't worry, its not 'missing' or anything. Anything I would ever find like that would go straight to the Beeb....

  • so cheap yet so cool!

  • Im planning to make a reconstuction using Blender, if anyone knows anything about blender animations, tell me.

  • how do you get blender??? do you have to buy it or can you download it off the internet?

  • how do you get blender??? do you have to bye it or can you download it for free off the internet?

  • this is one of the best old series serials. as the 2nd doctor said " i think this is the end of them. the final end!

  • Even from what's left of the Troughton era, I'm still amazed at the talent that went into the serials. Not only is this type of special effect surprising both for 1964 AND the miniscule budget they had to work with, but the direction makes it that much more shocking to watch. Just phenomenal.

  • Aye, they defintely knew how to to inject tension into episodic TV in those days.

  • Wow, I love those Daleks! I just love those little Daleks! This is what got me into Second Life, when I saw all those little Daleks running around, I just had to join up, because lord knows I love a good Dalek up my ass!

  • always good when the best clips survive

  • NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO(Im just jk!)

  • Did you get this off of the Tomb of the Cybermen DVD?

  • That's scary as hell! People back then must have been wetting themselves, and what is going on with the dalek at 0:39?

  • looks to me that his head has blown off and the dalek inside is still kicking

  • Emperor's voice is better than anything made today

  • i am so glad that this scene still exists. i have listened to the cd release, but nothing beats actualy seeing the dalek emporer

  • it seems mad that they would so carelessly throw away such great episodes! i mean virtualy all of the first 2 series of troughton r lost! fools! iv seen some ppl remake dalek scenes with cgi! it would work to go do that with the lost episodes i think! though what theyve done for the invasion also works

  • they actualy remade this one as a stage performance, and they are remaking the first doctors dalek epic (the name escapes me at the moment) as a play for this year as well, they may even decide to release a dvd with those things.

But for many of the other epsisodes that were not popular, and are not one of the ones missing a whole lot of stuff, they probably wont get remade till last.

  • The bbc should remake the lost episodes.

  • Using the animation studios for The Invasion!

  • According to a timeline, this battle takes place just before the final battle of the Time-War. After recovering from this battle, which devestates skaro, the Daleks abbandon the planet and attack Gallifrey. Remembrance takes place a lot earliar and was part of a dalek plan to see if Davros was controllable

  • Davros wasn't under Dalek control in Rememberance, he was the one doing the controlling, disguised as the Emperor

  • no i think im sure he created the emperor but they had a disagreement and the hated each other then i think another group of other daleks turned on the emperor but also didnt like davors 3 way abttle kinda thing i think

  • It was two Dalek factions basically; the Imperial faction, led by Davros in disguise, and "every other Dalek". It was more a way for Davros to reassert control after the Daleks deciding they didn't need him.

  • Great to see the climax of the 'wiped & lost' Evil Of The Daleks 1967 series.

  • "The Final End" - Yeah right Doctor...

  • The Doctor, must have been smokeing some good weed on that day when he said that.

  • Terry Nation wanted to off the Daleks in this episode so he could go to America and have them make a show all about the Daleks, which he was trying to do since "Mission to the Unknown". But during the Pertwee era, they made another Dalek episode so that never happened. I wonder if the 1996 TV movie showed him how Americans could screw up Doctor Who.

  • Well he ALWAYS thinks he's wiped out the daleks in every story they've been in from the old series.

  • The model shots are annoying obvious, but story looks class, shame it is lost.

  • Damn, those daleks are FREAKY !

  • I'd still like to know where this puts stories like "Remembrance Of The Daleks".

  • too bad that episode is lost

  • there is a doctor who you tube group search groups for doctor who
