It's important to be true to your own vision, but never forget that, if you write for a living, you have to make sure your fans will like it. Stephenie Meyer's target audience was teenage girls, trying to teach them that abstinence is something to be valued. However, the language she used was more for older adults. The language has to match the target audience. Flowery language is nice, but if it's too high-brow for the readers

That was why they would bite others to increase their numbers. And yet, in Breaking Dawn, Bella is carrying Edward's child? That's complete disregard for one's own lore. Further, it applies the stereotype that a girl's first time will immediately result in pregnancy. I cannot begin to tell you how completely stupid that is.
