He should have specified to use a torque wrench when tightening the spark plugs. Also that gapping tool is not very good, use a wire gapping tool instead.
what year f-150 do you have? i have a 96 5.0 and theres so many wires and gaurds over the manifolds you can barely get to the second to the back plug.. its a big pain in the ass i think i am just goin to rip the fender well out and make it easier haha
I have a 97 f250 5.4 v8. same engine as the 98-03 f150. Ive already figured out how to change them. I also replaced the COPs the entire process took about 4 hours and my hands were scratched up.
Ok question for the pros, what if I change just a couple at a time? Will my engine blow up? Of course not dumbass.. so Im going to change them a few at a time.
If you need direction on how to open the hood or where the plugs are located you should just drive it to a mechanic and let him handle it. And if you think you need to use a torque wrench you probably don't need to attempt changing them either.
what does difficulty in getting to the plugs have to do with how to open the hood, inability to find them or using a torque wrench to tighten them down? It's changing plugs not rocket science. I guess some people enjoy making mountains out of mole hills.
yeah like my S60 T5. I have to remove the tubro pipe going from the intercooler to the turbo which they placed right over the engine. Pain in the ass.
lol. I was going to post a comment saying the same. Why is this guy wasting time on this video explaining how to open your hood. I started crackin up.

30k miles? Thats for OLD cars. New cars go 100k miles between spark plug changes.
raymond08586 2 years ago 4
@raymond08586 how old ... like before 1990 or before 2000.
SirFightsalot 2 years ago
@raymond08586 depends on spark plugs. Iridium/Platinum tipped plugs go for 100k but regular type plugs need to be replaced sooner.

@raymond08586 But us old cars will kick your new car's ass

@raymond08586 Depends on the spark plugs, copper should be changed around 30K but Platinum and Iridium can go for 100K

i wish it was this easy on an F150. I could be done in 15 minutes. But i have to set aside 2 1/2 hours for my truck.

@indiansslugger Wait till you break a plug trying to get them out, which they are notorious for ;)

Also, if you apply some Anti-seize to the plugs' threads, they will be much easier to remove in the future.

To be fair spark plugs can be hard to get to in some cars.
