  • Dells suck eggs bog time

  • I think my Bulldozer PC is more powerful than this but indeed xenon will always be the best for server processor

  • Bought one of these recently for $500. Insane how cheap they are now.

  • @lyokofans Yes, you got a good deal, especially if it has the RAID 10 and all the extra goodies like mine. Did you do it as an eBay purchase?

  • @adiblasi Yes bought it on ebay. It doesn't have all of the goodies, but dual quad cores and 16GB RAM so I can't complain. I assume that you have the PE2900 correct?

  • None of my friends are in the loop, and I tell them to "L" their support and read the dipissnostics panel to them all the time. Awesome!

  • @Branhower1 LOL - YES! So many phrases my crappy videos have indeed contributed to tech/pop culture (ok, used by a small handful, but whatever...); In retrospect, I'm so glad that I filmed this with my cousin Richard. Good times, and a lot of good laughs. One of the drives JUST failed yesterday on that server yesterday -- but no problem. Dell had the part to me within 90 minutes, and a tech was there to install it 3 hours later. No down time and no data loss. Beautiful!

  • @adiblasi I love DELL and Lenovo service. Although we have 3 IBM x3200m3 servers that have been HELL and can't wait to replace them lol IBM service is just horrible. Love the vids we watch them at work to de-stress. Keep up the awesome work.

  • Sucks 9000 :L L

  • very cool video i would so love a 8 core machine.

  • What exactly does "FF-class" mean? You say it a lot in this.

  • Minute 10:30 thats funny ! :)

  • Currently running windows update, on my server. Also running server 2003 on it, 107 High-priority Updates. *yawn*

  • now that was funny :)

  • Mexicans hahaha!...

  • Comment removed

  • @Inzolity With today's 2011 technology, you can probably build something 4x more powerful for 1/4 the price. Go build your dream box -- make a video!

  • @adiblasi i definitely will have one, some day. For now, i'll be saving for a macbook pro, for school purposes. And that costs as much, as decent server anyway. I Have an old p4 compaq server which runs fine (for now, anyway) :)

  • on the bus or the train lol

  • Al - still my favorite video of yours! Every time I get a call about a server problem or issue, I think "Here we go!!! Here we go!!! What am I lookin' at .. right f-n' now?" Then I have to "L" my hardware vendor for support! And the computers are usually DELL machines!

  • @djjoeyr I'm glad you enjoyed it. Rich and I laugh about this footage all the time, and we are glad to have filmed it. In retrospect, three and a half years later, the server is still running strong with very little problems. There was a failure in one stick of RAM -- it was reported on the LED diagnostic panel, however, the system continued to function properly (it avoided that bank of memory). Dell sent in the replacement overnight - no problem.

  • I find it funny that its now completely common to have an 8-core system in your home.

  • should have got windows 2008 server :P

  • How much did this cost?

  • this is good fellas makes a server LMFAO!!!!!

  • Is the SUX 9000 a real product?

  • @TheMichaelspears Its a movie reference. To Robocop.

  • @TheMichaelspears No; the reference to "SUX 9000" goes back to the original RoboCop movie. I usually refer to everything as a "SUX 9000" if, off hand while filming, I don't really know the exact model number.

  • i can't stop laughing!!! :D :D :D

  • windows server is pathetic. why run a whole graphical OS when ubuntu server does everything, is more stable and secure, and has a 12 mb memory footprint.

  • @DOMIDOOM Why Windows SBS? Because I specifically need Exchange Server as well as Microsoft's SQL Server for specific software deployment, that's why.

  • @DOMIDOOM Amateurs don't know the + / - of each server but wanting to look smart, they jumped on the hate windows wagon.

  • @DOMIDOOM Amateurs don't know the + / - of each server but wanting to look smart, they jumped on the hate windows wagon.

  • @DOMIDOOM *Cough* Hyper-V *Cough*

  • haha i would of loved being there lol

  • also, even though this is from 2008, 10-core Xeon's were announced by intel, so you could potentially do that now :D

  • I've had issues like that before, and its really annoying! Although StarTech makes some good basic stuff.

  • Did you have to buy more CALs to connect all 10 users to the domain? I ask because I think SBS 2003 only comes with 5 installed.

  • @iTech278 You are absolutely correct; I had to purchase a CAL 5-pack for this server. Still running strong on SBS 2003 R2 - no problems except that I need a larger LTO tape drive. It's getting an upgrade from an LTO-2 to an LTO-4

  • I love it when i order stuff from the company and its supposed to have the drivers pre loaded and it doesnt work.

  • An 8 core machine from 2003? oh my god, that's amazing.

  • @Inzolity Clarification - it was from 2007; and the server deployed two 4-core Xeon chips.

  • @adiblasi Ok, thanks :) Either way, It's some damn impressive hardware! :)

  • @adiblasi I enjoy the use of "deployed" in this sentence.

  • @Inzolity, so in the correct lexicon (or jargon) that'd be 8-way, instead of octo-core.

  • I would love to run my Minecraft server off this beast XD

  • Where can you get one of those servers and where can you get one of those backup systems?

  • @TheJoshuaPChan Josh, I got it direct from Dell; THAT model is now 4 years old and out of date; you can probably find them on eBay but the PowerEdge series is still an active product line from Dell. The tape backup was also from Dell - an LTO-2 tape backup system. The CURRENT version is an LTO-5. You can visit the ProVantage web site and search for LTO-5. They offer externals but you will need the proper interface. I am installing the LTO-5 on Octavius soon.

  • @TheJoshuaPChan You can get that kind of power for much less now.

I just bought Asus P7F-M WS and Xeon quadcore in a Fractal Mini. Small and blazingfast. Only get Dell if you have a business and are willing to shell out big big bucks for support, not worth it for home users.

Also, if you really need such a UPS, you are better off using a backup generator and a smaller UPS.

  • Going from building 42u servers to looking at this makes me lulz =D

  • :D

  • windows server 2003 . hmm soo new :D

  • lol SUX9000 Robocop reference. Are you sure it's APC and not Pontiac for that SUX9000?

  • @experimental0000 You are indeed correct on the RoboCop reference. I really enjoyed that movie, and I laughed my ass off when they referenced the model of the car as the "S-U-X 9000" You will hear me use that line quite often when I am referencing products. Hope you got a few smiles from this. We had a lot of fun filming it.

  • @adiblasi indeed I did. very well done :)

  • SkyNet Power Management Systems is Now Activated... Please discontinue use on the primary mainframe!!!

    LOL

  • "You can't get in here...fo' nothin'."

  • comments from end users are really funny :)

  • This is a Dual Xeon E5450, with only 4GB of memory, this is not a beast, this is a normal server...

  • @anjo2 When this server was purchased in Q4 2007, it was the best available in this particular series.

  • @adiblasi Don't you just hate it when people don't look at the date xD

I mean come on ofcorse it not top of the line anymore, after you had it for a week it was out of date, bloody PC Industry -.-, i just got a new Core i5 System and then BAM Sandy Bridge is announced a week after i got it. xD

  • @adiblasi

Intel's 10-Core Xeon Processor Shipping Soon

  • @MvTCracker 10 cores? x 2? Nice. 20 cores for me to run iMovie HD 2006. LOL! Hope you got a few laughs with this video.

  • its says 'Windows 2003 server' but what does it say under that?

  • DELL DATA SAFE KEYGEN DOWNLOAD SEE THIS VIDEO : /watch?v=n5QMp1R9u0g

  • My god! those fans!

  • Why do you need all that power? I would be rendering out Visual Effects for my assignments, I wish lol

  • trader! you use windows on a mac

  • sounds like a vacum cleaner!

  • lol i love how he asks "so where are the octo cores?" I guess he thought there were supposed to be 8 processors, sorry to disappoint you but all 8 cores are in one processor just like the core 2 duo in your macbook has 2 cores :P

  • @TokuinB It is a pair of 4 core Xeon processors.

  • @adiblasi yeah i figured as much, its just the way he says it sounds like he thinks there are 8 chips :P

  • @TokuinB Oh, we did a lot of fooling around and 'tongue in cheek' jokes in this video. We did not plan on filming anything -- I happen to have had my small Xacti video camera with me in the office, and my cousin, Richard, as we were opening up the system said "imagine if you open this around found nothing more than a MacBook Air inside" and I said "wait a minute, with that lousy joke, let's film it. Repeat it again..." and that's how this entire video was put into motion.

  • your videos get better every time i watch them

  • @shawnygz Hi Shawn; they don't -- they really don't. The reason why they 'seem' to get better is because by watching them, you are actually destroying brain cells. :)

Thanks for the compliment. I hope you continue to uncover the small nuances and subliminal jokes within my videos that make you smile. And remember to "L" your hardware vendor (or something like that, during the blue screen...) - Alfred

  • this would be a great box for esxi

  • this would be a great box for esxi

  • aplefanboys 101....

  • Whateva

  • Thnx mate enjoyed your video a lot specially the part

"l your hardware vendor for support "

    lols that was sooooo funnyyyy

  • my laptop can run 2005 server quite happily, with 15 pc's connected up, lags mildly

  • I enjoyed this video lol

  • @armmani2001 Hi Armmani - thanks; we had a lot of fun filming this, and obviously it was a lot of goofing around; I will tell you that the server has been running flawlessly since it was deployed - it's going on three years old now! - Alfred

  • @adiblasi I'm Glad to hear that ! I just graduated from College in Computer Networking and I am researching to find the right server to practice VMware esxi and get the certificate for that but these servers are really noisy for my room ! I wished I was working with you guys, its a good environment !

  • @adiblasi hey alfred, man i have to say you have still one of the the most entertaining tech etc channels on youtube. first i did not undertood why the video was rated 48 times down, then after the jesus jokes, we all know why hahah

    Jesus: "ohh Fish? AGAIN?" lol

  • looks messy better get a mac pro more sexiness !

  • i have a dell poweredge 4600 at home had also a blou screen on startup was the raid card that faile in tranist

  • Dell is such cheap and boring sludge, HP Integrity and IBM POWER blow it away with ease. I'd also definitely prefer an older SGI system.

Also, Windows? The least thing you could do is try Linux, or better yet, a *BSD.

  • this is brilliant!!!

  • Lol this is funny video :)

  • FAKE no just kidding

  • Our Dell server was a loud mother f'ker too haha.

  • that mac aka "ass handel" because of the handle in its ass

  • Use Linux and say bye bye to BSOD :-)

  • hey this is steve job your machine sucks

  • ehh, you know you are able to get 12 cores???

  • @BlasterProduction09 Yes, but not at the time of purchase - this was the best configuration for December 2007

  • can it play tetras ????

  • What a joke, a Apple II emulator :-)

  • ROFL. Mrs. Christ

  • true professionals! hahahahahahhaha!!!!

  • @AtGnat8 Oh yea. LOL!

  • wow....

  • haha this is the first vid i watched of yours a year ago and IM HOOKED!!!!!!!!!!

  • @thecooldude9999 Hey, we're still having fun. The server is still running well too!

  • caramba oque é isso ai kkkkk pareçe um avião oloco

  • hilarious, nice job

  • VMWare baby Smart guy.

  • @holyguitar90 I'll tell you -- future deployment, I might just go 'virtual' for all of the workstations, and let them just sit inside of the server -- I really like that concept.

  • @adiblasi Time for SBS 2011 Standard

  • why didnt you get an xserve

  • @macandpctips111 A good question with a simple answer. Software. I need to run Microsoft Exchange Server, SQL Server, and Small Business Server 2003

  • O_O

  • I'm like support windows server 2003 e 2008 dell

i'm liked support partiners ! is good !

  • get a couple of tessla's in there!

  • I like how you have an iMac G3 right beside this octacore hellbeast. Probably feels so inferior.

  • @tipoomaster no it probably doesn't because it's not running microsoft winblows

  • So how does DOS run on it?

  • @tipoomaster LOL DOS runs REALLY FAST!

  • awesomes ;)

  • SBS 2008 :) or codename aroura

  • Computer porn :P

  • Hahahahahahaha You say Jesus H. Christ

  • @TonysTechnology And the "H" is for... Henry!

  • @adiblasi Sorry I meant you say Jesus H. Christ too much

  • @adiblasi I thought it was Humphry!

  • @adiblasi The H is for "Holy hell, that fucking server is ridiculously loud."

  • @adiblasi i've been using jesus h. christ and i've had eleven people in the last week ask me what the h was for lol

  • @KingofComputing King, listen, I get that too. What you have to do is look the person in the eye, with a total serious face, and respond as follows: "It stands for Henry."

  • @adiblasi lol ok i will

  • that is an awsome setup, can never have too quick a server, that will run warcraft very nicely lol if you stuck a good gpu in it.

awsome vids man keep them coming..

  • @dandankarpinski222 Hey Dan - for the 15 people that are on it, it's an overkill, so that's a good thing. I don't have to buy another one for another 3 or 4 years; Hope you got a few smiles out of this. Trust me, we know what we're doing -- this was just light, tongue in cheek humor. Thanks for the support. - Alfred.

  • @nolobedeagain You're still a douche. And I'm blocking your 'again' account, since this is obviously your modus operandi herein.

Until you post your own content on YouTube, STFU.

  • "Utmost class server "

Then he hasn't seen too many servers. And his attempt at humor fails miserably

  • @nolobede Nolo, at the time of purchase, Q4 2007, this box was the highest end server offered by Dell in that particular series.

As someone who states on his YouTube profile as having a "Post Graduate degree in Applied Technologies, U of Mich, MIT", let us know your contribution to the technology and/or business sector.

Quite frankly, from my perspective, your a douche bag. Glad my nephew went to WPI.

  • I like how "silent" that Server is.......

  • mine is better.

  • Holy Shit!

  • No WOrries in late 2009 and now in 2010 I run Win Srvr 2003 I like it its cheaper

  • @Sliffer21 We have the upgrade to the new version, as part of the software protection plan, but as of right now, I don't see any reason to deploy it. Thanks for watching!

  • In the File Section of Aries-Films you can download everything you need to create your videos and go even further. Just google for Aries-Films

  • turn that P.O.S. on, lolz

  • Lol @ the G3 in the background.

  • @Armaangandevia1

    Hey! Hey!.... No!

    No!

  • @Meowmiks lol

  • @Armaangandevia1 Shitty Mac OS X Server or endless-possibilities Windows Server? Go Windows!

  • Maybe it's me, but I find some of these videos strangely entertaining and amusing. :D

  • @pacmanghostx Thank you. Look, we all know that there are plenty of quality tech reviewers out there. I create and post these videos to show a little lighter side of tech, so that viewers get a few smiles. BTW, that server is running great!

  • @adiblasi I hear you...

If anything, that's why I prefer your reviews over most others... You tend to find the hilarity in something like technology.

  • Hehe, you guys are hilarious ^^ Nice server

  • @MrDjuice Thank you!

  • What is the model # on this server?

  • @freespeachrulez PowerEdge 2900

  • I don't know who let you get anywhere near that server although it is kinda shitty server. however just for your reference you need a decent internet connection to watch youtube not a SERVER!

  • @NINO2ARMANDO I own the company, that's how I get near it.

And regarding your statement, is it a decent (i.e. 'stable') connection, or good download bandwidth to watch YouTube videos? Look at that, you almost figured it out all by yourself. Do you want a cookie now?

It runs my company, you moron.

  • Well said, Alfred.

  • a SUX(SUCKS) 9000 battery backup

  • why not load windows se7en on that machine?

  • @JakobMichaelPowell

    what is windows se-seven-en

  • window's seven

  • @JakobMichaelPowell

    That's not what you wrote.

  • that is how microsoft writes it!

  • @JakobMichaelPowell Becaue it is a client -OS?

  • I SMELL A PREBUILT!
