  • Excellent looked like fun !

  • Where can I find the guitar tabs for this..?

  • I'm impressed with the key change; not easy to do.

  • LOL at the bag pipes

  • Devine<3

  • aweeeeeeeeesomeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee :) :) :)

  • this is such a great vid!!!!

if it is true, that you play this pipes since the day before, your playing is very good!!!

    Greetings from Germany

    Simon

  • @SubbaSimmal Yes, it's true. These were my first pipes and, when this was filmed, i had only 1 day of experience with them. Of course the fact that I play whistle made things easier for me but i had no experience with using the bag and with the pressure control (as it is visible :) ). Also, these pipes were partly out of tune.

  • @SubbaSimmal Oh, and thanks very much for the compliments

  • Not many know the trials and tribulations of blowing tone with a bagpipe. after setting down a Penny whistle not so easy, And it doesnt blend so easily with a guitar either... You and Your Brother do A Fine job From the low end to the high end on the pipes yes in fact are differant amounts of pressure to blow proper tone Relax and enjoy..

  • Hehe, great video :D and bagpipeguy looks like Sheldon from Big Bang Theory :p

  • :D

  • @vinterfroest right .... !! I knew I saw this face before .... ;0))

  • the high tune is not out of tune, just not enough pressure ;p

  • ROFL im sorry guys, not bad at all..but i lost it when he started the pipes....but hell for the effort of a new instrument all good...to help though research mor eon playing..i know whenu exhale in the bag, it helps to use your tounge as a block to stop air from escaping the pipe...this may help you with the air pressur eof bag, and breathing as well...cheers

  • Maybe it's just my preference, but a low D might sound a bit better, but still sounds good guys :)

  • Where's the bong?

Just kidding, very nice. Makes me want a penny whistle. Not a fan of the pipes but your balloons made it light hearted and funny! Good job.

  • Where's the bong?

Just kidding, very nice. Makes me want a penny whistle.

  • Good job! The bubbles are hilarious.

  • jaaj evry nice guys..music and laughts,perfect pack ^^

    un saludo desde Españaa!

  • i was finding it really amazing that those were home-made pipes (i was like: wtfff, it is missing drones, and it is kind of weird), but your comments like "ouch" or "jesus christ" made me laugh, pretty hard xD

    i liked the video!

  • Really not bad

  • haha, loved the comments! :D

  • Nice Job Guys!!

  • nice one!

  • Beautiful!!!!

  • Great Video, thanks for sharing. That whistle is an OAK Classic "D" isn't it? I just bought one.

  • @rainbowplacer Thanks for the comments. Actually, the whistle is a Dixon Nickel Trad D.

  • Sweet

  • Bravo

  • Bravo . . that was GREAT and thanks for sharing. Please keep practicing and let's hope to see and hear more from you!

5***** for effort, including your sacrilegious comments.

  • you guys play awesome music.. and of course the captions are HILARIOUS :)

  • don't say Jesus Christ and Holy mary like that

  • loool that makes me laugh

Fortunately in my country we still have some freedom of speech and censorship isn't as high as in yours ;)

  • @cesarpim in all honestly i don't think it has much to do with censorship so much as the fact you are playing an exteremelly religous song and to say things with such disrespect some may find it insulting.

on a lighter note that was very nice even with all the mess ups thnx for playing

  • BooBoo, allow me to disagree with you.

Anyone can see that my words were not meant to be insulting. Something that is not meant to insult is not FELT as an insult by anyone. What happens is that some people *pretend* to feel insulted only to call attention to their religion. Such people DO attempt to censor others by saying, and I quote, "don't say (bla bla)", so it IS a matter of censorship.

    (continues in next comment)

  • (continuation)

As far as I am able, I will make use of my freedom of speech and ignore such people that are NOT insulted and only want to call attention. If someone would *really* feel hurt or insulted I would care, believe me. It's not the case.

Finally I want to thank you for your kind compliments.

  • @cesarpim i understand what u mean with the fact that it may have to do with censorship, i am religious and i felt no insult with ur comments so it may be ppl just pretending, i understand that u didn't intend it to sound as an insult, and you are welcome for the compliments i can assure you they were sincere, keep playing and master it then put the vid up so i can hear it i will subscribe so i will know thnx quick question would u by chance happen to be American?

  • Hey BooBoo, to answer your question... no, I am not American, I am Portuguese :P

  • wow thats really nice :))

  • Enjoyed watching your video! Thanks for posting.

  • funny, nice job ;)

  • ABSOLUTELY PERFECT!!! ;-D

  • iyi iyi,guzel çalısın !

  • wtf???

  • Great job!

  • afferim lan

  • dudeee, this is greatt. Ive always wanted to learn how to play bagpipes. And jeeze, for only playing them for a day, you did amazingly!

  • That was great esp since you just started playing the bagpipes.

  • I loved it- The captions were great-have to see it again...LMAS Keep it up you two are very talented!!!

  • Great! I like the captions :)

  • Muito impressionante. Muito obrigado .

  • I haven't laughed this hard in a long time!!! The comments were absolutley genius and Soooo funny! Loved it!!! Made my day : )

  • what kind of pipes are those?

  • bravo.

  • That sounded absolutely great! A couple of hiccups in there but I'm sure time will work those out haha. QUESTIONS: Obviously you knew how to play the tin whistle previously, and then you said that you'd only gotten the bagpipes the day before. Are the notes on the bagpipes the same as are on the tin whistle???? Because I've got a tin whistle and have wanted to play pipes for a while and it would be great if I could just switch right over haha!

  • Thanks! Well, the fingering isn't exactly the same but it's similar. Good luck!

  • can u give me the notes for it or were can i get them amazing grace tin whistel whats the notes?!?! and very very well played!

  • It's pretty easy by ear, it should be ingrained in your brain

  • That was actually awesome...not sure about the playing but the quotes were super funny! Keep it up!

  • haha fun to watch XD

  • Was cool this duet!

  • Very cool.

  • wow really good you guys, it sounds really nice

  • Interesting rendition... any reason you chose to play it in 4/4 time instead of 3/4 like it is originally?

  • wow good but work on the bag pipes loved every thong else you make it look esey

  • Amazing and graceful!

  • You guys rock! Keep it up. Great sound and great comments. Loved every part of it :D

  • let me try some variation here xDDDDDDD

    awesome comments :D

    keep on playin dudes^^

  • (^o^) love it!!

  • Loved it. Lol. Keep it up.

  • laughed so hard til my stomach hurt! wasn't expecting that. loved the captions.

tried to watch it a 2nd time but had to go lie down my sides hurt so bad.

can't hardly type for laughing. but thanks for posting the video. Its now one of my favorites.

reminds me of when I was learning how to play the recorder. ooh, too funny!

  • mY GOD it was fantastic :D that commentary ;p. Keep playing and gdont give up ;p

  • hahahah nice one dude.. keep it up

  • it was really good, but the uhh bagpipes really sounded wierd, they were out of tune, and u were like, causing them to uhh roll on every note, if you know what i mean, like, wiggling yer fingers? it was kinda wierd...you should get bagpipe lessons. but other than the few flaws, most of them u mentioned, umm it was really good!!!

  • Yes it's weird :) What you call "roll" is not realy roll but "vibrato". This video was more than one and a half years ago and I posted it here because I found it interesting to show what was one of my first bagpipe experiences. Since then I evolved, of course, (without classes) and the bagpipe got fixed, but i still think it's funny to see :) Anyway, thanks for watching and thanks for your comments :P

  • Out of tune... yes. Played with heart... definitely. :)

  • hahahahaa! nice wurk fellas! ^_^

  • hahha nice one.. loved the comments..even though that bagpipe was way off tune!!

  • very good...:)

  • "Jesus Christ!" - "Holy Mary!" haha, loved it! Nice playing nevertheless! had to go to my favourites.

  • I like it ... And I think it's a good start, isn't it? ;-)

  • I like the upshift on the whistle, simple but effective. Can we have Highland Cathedral now please?

  • merci

  • haha hilarious annotations... nice pipes

  • i think you did an awesome job

  • Fair play to ya lads. The captions are brilliant! Its good to have a sense of humour when experimenting. Keep up the good work - and best luck getting your chanter tuned. (if it helps any, on the highland pipes you can make minor adjustments to the pitch of notes by putting a wee skim of tape over the top of the offending note hole. hope it helps! )

  • Great work... Good music and very funny speech bubbles.

  • whistle sound very nice, and the guitar made nice consistant backing, the pipes were quite excellent for your conditions (haha)...homemade? what did you use for reeds?

  • Thanks.

The pipes are homemade but not by me. The reeds are made of bamboo :P

  • Hahahah the annotations are hilarious. Nice playing too by the way :)

  • r u better now?

  • Yes, I'm better. But it's difficult to get my brother to play with me :)

  • aww y can u not get him to play

  • beats me :P

  • Not bad with the bagpipes. I like it.

  • it sounded great boys, until u put down the whistle and started squeezing the poor tan-coloured cat LOL

  • bonito!!qué tipo de gaita estás tocando?parece una gaita del este de europa

  • Gracias. Si es una gaita caseira inspirada en los modelos del este de europa.

  • ist eine schöne version von !

    dank aller gefallenen soldaten!

  • i like this alot

  • Sounds a bit like uillean pipes.

  • What kind of bagpipes are they? smashing work!

  • Thats a Gaita

  • good. close to ryan duns

  • Boa e dificil encontrar pessoas a tocar tin whistle em portugal

  • is that tin whistle one in D Key or is that C key?

  • I think it 's a D one.

  • is there any web where i can learn how to play tin whistle??

  • Beautiful!

    Nice strumming.

And the tonality on the flute is crisp-clear at the same time mellow-sweet.

I love the bagpipes! What a wonderful hauntingly resounding. Nice color/shades of melody.

    What is gaita?

Thanks for the video dudes! I give you a heart slap on the back to you both (teach me to strum like that will ya?)

    Peace.

  • Thank you for your nice compliments.

"Gaita" is the portuguese word for bagpipes.

You'll have to ask my brother about the strumming ;)

  • The base of the strumming i did there is quite simple (4 steps):

    1. Thumb strikes upmost string of the chord i'm playing;

    2. Index finger strikes 3rd string;

    3. Middle and ring fingers strike 2nd and 1st strings respectively;

    4. Same as 2.

And once in a while i make some improvisation.

    Hope it helps!

  • nice gratz guys

    great vid

  • what kinda bagpipe is that?

  • It's a homemade one made of bamboo, inspired on Eastern European models.

  • Great stuff

  • i don't know why this song is played during funerals it doesn't make sense. the song has nothing to do with the death of a person. idk????

  • this was played at my dads funeral miss him soo much =(

    that was amazing guys

  • its such a beautiful, it was played at our school when a teacher passed

  • a great vid I dought I could get the bladder to fill, never mind play the bag pipe.

  • wow amazing

  • Lovely.

  • Its not the best but its great. I like it!

  • his whistle looks alot like cpt picards whisle on star trek

  • great vid just wish a deeper tone from the bag pipes

  • I'm sure that they are practice pipes, hence 'no drones'.

    still.....a great vid

  • It has one drone but I have it blocked with paper so that it doesn't work ;)

  • Those are called Uillean Pipes, not Bagpipes-I seen Black 47(from NYC) enough times to know what instrument it is.That being said, nice job, guys!

  • yeah.... whatever, no Uillean Pipe for sure but well, you seem to know it better...

  • The pipes I play in the video are not Uillean Pipes, they are hand made by a friend of mine, inspired on Eastern European models of bagpipes.

    (continues)

  • Some of the main differences:

    1 Uillean Pipes (UP) are bellows-blown, these ones are mouth-blown;

    2 The reeds of these pipes are made of bamboo which is not the case in UP;

    3 UP can have zero or more drones but they do not have a drone in the same octave as the tonic note, as is the case for these pipes;

    4 UP have semi-closed fingering and the knee is used for closing the end of the chanter, while the pipes in the video have open fingering;

5- The UP bag is bigger and has a different shape.

  • 6 UP can play two octaves, while these pipes can play only one.

    I hope now it's clear.

  • cool. What's mostly evident is that you HAD FUN.

  • haha quite ironic =D

  • actually I was serious :-). Didn't you enjoyed a lot doing that? I think making music is most of it all about this: enjoyng :-)

  • Of course i enjoyed. Music is just a hobby to me and I wouldn't play it if I wouldn't enjoy. It's just a pity how much the bagpipes go out of tune, specially in the end of the video.

    Thanks for watching!

  • hahahaha you play better than i do on the bagpapipes!!

    really nice!

  • didnt sound that great on the bagpipes.

  • Those of us who play NO instrument say "You did great....GREAT!!!

  • on the bagpipes ur tones goes out alot :(

  • i love the sound of the tin wistle it was so amazing

  • Muito bom!

  • Awesome...

  • I've never heard a ba dversion of this songs... your rendition included...good job...thanks

  • I think you guys did a great job!

  • so nice

  • amaazing

  • you saved yourself by making the blunders sound like inprovisation...

  • you shouldn't put yourself down, thats what we're for! Only kidding, not bad at all.

  • that was so nice :) that song always brings a tear to my eye and you guys played it perfectly 10/10 :D

  • Comment removed

  • the Half Bag is Out of tune But still you actuily know how to play it and that says a lot

  • too bad the pipes are not in tune with the guitar dudes. nice try tho

  • Yes, the pipes were out of tune even with itself. I don't have them anymore, though.

  • wow the fact that two "Portuguese" guys only play Irish songs makes me a hell of a lot more proud to be Irish.

  • ~it... it was, nice! Good try! :)~

  • bravooo

  • I enjoyed this. Guitar is good and the other 2 instruments are well on their way. I wish you best of luck and lots of enjoyment while you continue to learn. I could see how much you enjoyed putting this all together and I appreciated it quite a bit. Thanks.

  • Great effort, I loved it.

  • I thought you both were great.

  • i love this... I'm playing danny boy on the tin whistle for a band concert

  • love the tin whistle bit not so fond of the bagpipes bit though

  • Yeah to be honest, we already realized that was your 1st time with all those very odd instruments for you dude. Try practising, it's the only way & good luck next time.

  • well done sir well done

  • bundesliga!

  • :-)

  • I can see problems, but hey, how many good beginners are there on the bagpipes. Better than most, re-record this when you've gotten much better, and it will sound very good.
