A Co, 4/16th INF, 1st ID (Forward). Goeppingen, West Germany. Proud to have been a Big Red One soldier. Proud of the 1st ID to this day. You guys are my heroes. No mission too difficult, no sacrifice too great. Duty First. Infantry Leads the Way.
I went back in 08 to FOB polawada. They saw my big red one patch and said they remembered us from OIF2 the terp was from balad he said we were the best unit he had ever seen there.
Seeing this stirs me up, to think people toss the word Sacifice around, like I did not eat lunch today, or I did not buy this, but they dont know. Some people will never understand them or why they do it, For Freedom is not FREE and it has many Faces who fought and died for it!
What sad times to remember iraq 2004-2005. Hard times yet we as soldiers are called upon, we surrendered our lives when we put up our right hand and swore in. Duty calls, and yet we all volunteer for our fellow soldier, the guy to the left, the guy to our right, we sacrafice everything for that buddy. To my fellow 1st ID comrades, I miss you, You are not forgotten...SSG GARRETT, HHC 1-77AR. Mortar Platoon Sargeant, 2004-2005 Schweinfurt, Germany
